Rachelcat Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 (edited) Hiya! This week will be Tarocchi Mantegna, which is neither a tarot nor by Mantegna. The deck of misnomers! It’s the last of my new acquisitions featured in Untold Tarot by Caitlin Matthews. As you probably know, it’s a deck of 50 cards, 5 sections (suits?) 10 each of: Societal estates (all men) (earth) 9 muses + Apollo (water) 7 liberal arts + 3 “sciences” (air) 7 virtues + 3 what I call “fundamentals” (fire) 10 celestial spheres (spirit) I have (pedantically) associated the 5 sections with the 5 elements and come up with keywords. Which I updated recently because I know planets better than I used to (the spheres), and I want my elements to be in order, lowest to highest. The elements also help to differentiate when there’s overlap between the cards: For example, there are both Urania, the muse of astrology, and Astrologia, a liberal art. There are no extant original cards: there are two versions of uncut sheets, now called E-series, about 1465, and S-series, about 1470. This week I’ll be using Tarocchi Mantegna, an E-series deck from MakePlayingCards.com. (I got the red velvet bag from one of the sellers of the other historicals I bought right on time!) Photos of the sheets are in the public domain, but it’s easier to buy print-on-demand. (I also have the 2001 Lo Scarabeo Mantegna Tarot, based on both series, beautifully colorized with silver foil. And Duck Soup’s Edwardian interpretation, Tinker’s Damn Mantegna Refined Edition.) Well, let’s give a regular interview a try! What is your most important characteristic? Terpsicore The muse of dance. The deck is about rhythm and health. What is your strength? Poesia It is good dealing with creativity and fiction. Your weakness? Astrologia But not as good with reality. What can I learn from you? Loica I can learn logic? From cards? Well, let’s give it a try. Maybe it goes with fiction. I’ll learn how to create logically consistent worlds. How can I learn it? Temparencia I can learn by being well balanced, and willing to combine things and move along a continuum. What will be the outcome of our work together? Euterpe The muse of music. It goes well with Terpsicore. It will be harmonious, and it will help me learn more about arts and systems. Well, that was kind of difficult. We’ll see what will happen the rest of the week! Rachel’s Interpretations of Mantegna Tarot 9-11-23.pdf Edited October 23, 2023 by Rachelcat Adding pdf
Bodhiseed Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Thank you for keeping us rolling, Fire cat! This week I'll be using the Lilifer Tarot, created and self-published by Marion Costentin. I'll also be using the Wandering Soul Oracle, created and self-published by Rachael Jean. Today's draws are the King of Wands and Higher Power: Create. Not for the money. Not for the fame. Not for the recognition. But for the pure joy of creating something and sharing it. ― Ernest Barbaric This fiery king is pulsing with electrical energy and flames; if it weren't for the smile on his face and his relaxed posture, one might think he was angry or malevolent. Instead, his passion has found a positive outlet that not only brings him joy but also makes him a more creative and capable leader. In recovery circles, a Higher Power is something greater than one's ego. It may be thought of as an essence or energy that runs through all of creation; Paul Tillich called it the "Ground of Being." When we acknowledge this power, we can tap into it, allowing it to guide all we do so that everything becomes an offering rather than just being about us and the praise we accumulate.
