Bodhiseed Posted November 20, 2023 Posted November 20, 2023 Thank you Fire cat! ❤️ This week I'll be using the Rosetta Tarot along with its companion book The Book of Seshet. This set was created by M.M. Meleen and published by Atu House. The oracle deck I'll be using is the Day of the Dead Lenormand, created and self-published by Edmund Zebrowski. Today's draws are the Ace of Swords and Bouquet: To celebrate someone else’s life, we need to find a way to look at it straight on, not from above with judgment or from below with envy. ― Sharon Salzberg Meleen explains that the lightning bolts above the sword hint at synapses and neural activity; she suggests the mind is a power that can be used for good or evil. It's force can be focused on the three poisons (greed, hatred, delusion) or the three antidotes (generosity, kindness, wisdom) in our daily encounters. Bouquet implies well-wishes and reminds me of a wedding bouquet that is carried during the ceremony and then tossed afterward to friends and family. It is a symbolic way of saying, "I'm happy, and wish this happiness for you." Now that's a great idea.
Rachelcat Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Yikes I had this all ready and didn't post it, so sorry for being so confusing, but I guess I should share after all? Hi everybody! Great to be back! Happy Thanksgiving to all! This week will be Yoginis’ Oracle, a deck of cards that features goddesses represented in 9th to 12th century circular, open-to-the-sky temples in India (not women who practice yoga). Seven such temples are extant, with the number, names, and attributes of the yoginis differing, so the creator has chosen which ones to feature in the deck (64 of them). Many of the yoginis have animal heads, similar to Egyptian gods, and many have mounts or familiar animals, similar to more mainstream Hindu gods. The book features instructions for meditation and communing with the yoginis along with divination, but I’ll be going my usual divination route. The creator even has a music/sacred sound video on YouTube to use with meditation on the yoginis. It explains that the fish on the deck back relates to a myth about a man who was swallowed by a fish and emerges with transcendent knowledge, which he shares with the yoginis. The art is bright and rough in an appealing style and includes the number and name of the yogini. All the yoginis are referred to as “sri” (holy or saint) and “pada” (lotus). Let’s go on to the interview! What is your most important characteristic? Sri Hayi-Pada, intuitive power She has a horse head (draws the chariot of the sun), seated on a lion (strength/power), holding a mala and a skull cup (meditation and transcendental knowledge). The deck is one of sunny enlightenment and power, even though it deals with some tantric, left-had-path topics. What is your strength? Sri Nirmanaski-Pada, intuitive action She has a frog head and a skull cup, and a frog below her. Book says a jumping frog relates to levitation. You have to jump before you can levitate! And it’s happy and enjoyable. Ok. Again, the deck emphasizes happiness and enjoyment even while talking about deeper and darker things. Your weakness? Shi-Shuki-Pada, qualities of the heart A bird-headed goddess gives unconditional love and protection to a rabbit, above a donkey? The book says freedom of a bird, too. The weakness is that the animals aren’t always identified! It’s more about self-actualization than serving others? What can I learn from you? Sri Abhayi-Pada, remover of petty fears Lizard-headed goddess blesses with both hands. Book says lizards live in the present, and we should too. It can teach me to be more present and let go of fear. I’m for that! How can I learn it? Bhairava, a god who asks questions of the yoginis, and their answers are recorded in scripture Well, that’s a bit spot on! I can learn about letting go of fear and seizing the day by asking questions of the yoginis. I’m on it! He only has one leg to stand on but lots of tools and weapons (and arms). So I should give up some of my certainties but use what I have to understand what the yoginis have to tell me. What will be the outcome of our work together? Sri Kaumari-Pada, colorful harmony A human-form yogini with a peacock familiar looking in a mirror. The mirror and the eyes on the peacock’s feathers help her look within and see beauty and harmony. She’s a mother goddess who encourages harmony in families. The deck will help me see beauty in places I haven’t before, including in my own family. I’m here for it! I think this is going to be a fun week with the yoginis!
