Hi I'm Mikey,

I started with the cards back in 72.  More recently I have been giving readings, I never offer but am sometimes approached, for about 5 years now.

I use a combination of Jung, an Open Reading, and subconciousness to read.

I love to discuss Tarot and have been looking for a Friendly place.  I hope this can be it.

As my grandfather said, if you don't learn something new each day, you must be dead!

Great to meet you @Mikeyc. Yes, you have found a friendly place.  I think what Edgar Cayce said applies here, namely "If you wish to have friends, be friendly". That doesn't mean some of us aren't opinionated (speaking for myself as a Centaur - but hopefully one of the good types).

I must say I like a bit of Jung, and I am curious to learn more, so I very much look forward to your contributions.   Welcome!

I am curious as most threads seem long dead,  Where should a newcomer start here?

Yes, this forum is definitely smaller than the old Aeclectic. Other than getting starting with the introductions threads, a good way to meet people is to join the reading circles.

You can always revive an old thread. Your new comments may spark renewed interest. And once you have 5 posts you can start your own threads as per your interests.

  • Get yourself used to the forum as it's a bit like a rabbit warren. That will show you topics you might be keen on contributing to or expanding on. Knowing where to post saves the moderators having to move things as well. (Thanks for your work moderators!)
  • The activity tab at the top of the page will show you the latest conversations.
  • check out the rules here  if you haven't already.
  • As Mysterei said, reviving threads is a great idea because people like you and me weren't here to join in the conversation at the time and might have something to contribute.
  • Be willing to suggest/start a study group or something so that people can engage. By that I mean, if you wanted to start a study group about Jung and the cards, for example  😇 I'd participate.

I have just joined this morning, and wanted to say hello to everyone. I've been looking for an online forum, (I did belong to Aeclectic,) and really miss the community.

I've been using the Tarot since I was in my teens, and my first deck was the Hoi Polloi. My go-to deck is the RWS, although I still have a Hoi Polloi which I also use. It's a bit precious, though - it's difficult to replace damaged or worn cards, so it stays at home if I take my cards out anywhere!

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Why not start your own introduction thread and then we can give you welcomes for you there? 🙂
