gregory Posted January 21 Posted January 21 So - Nuosu Egg Divination. Again - all the information on HOW is here, but you need knowledge and experience actually to DO it. They half fill a lacquered bowl (painted black inside) with water. They then ask the client what illnesses or problems they have. The technique is generally, but not exclusively, used for health issues - and in general these illnesses or other issues are believed to be brought about by ghosts or spirits in the homes or environments they live in. Some diviners rub herbs over the shell of an egg; they then summon their spirit helpers and the guardian spirits of their client's household to help. They then hand the egg to the client, who may blow into it to help it discern where the problem comes from by the egg "inhaling" the issue. They may also rub the egg on their bodies to further the inhalation. The diviner then cracks the egg into the bowl and scores the yolk into quarters using a knife or the broken eggshell. They may then scoop up some of the water and pour it back, to create bubbles in the water. From these bubbles - size and position - they will know which spirits are causing the issue, and will point everything out to the client, wither with their knife or a twig. The client may also ask about a specific bubble - whether, say, it represents a ghost they have suspected is involved. The whole process takes a while and then there are clearing up rituals.

Let us know what you think when you get it! My apologies for the very late reply. It’s been a while since I’ve visited the forum. This is an art book with academic-style text and gorgeous pictures, similar to the Taschen books (which I also collect). It’s lovely to poke around in and to keep on a coffee table for guests to peruse.
