A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Thank you, Fire cat! I'm in with the Shadowlands Tarot paired with the Brownie Wisdom deck.

It's not always rainbows and butterflies. It's compromise that moves us along.
―Maroon 5

The Five of Wands is what happens when several people all have a great idea about how to develop a project or venture: everybody talks at one time and listens to no one. The problem is that folks want to be heard (even those that whisper instead of yell), because it makes us feel respected and connected. Perhaps the Sacrifice the Brownie speaks of is to put aside our ego and listen rather than striving to get our opinion on the table. As writer David Augsburger said: “Being heard is so close to being loved that, for the average person, they are almost indistinguishable.”

I am back with the Light Seers and the Seasons of the Witch Ostara Oracle 🙂

Hi, everyone!  This week will be Pride of Dragons Oracle.  Along with Seasons of the Witch Ostara Oracle.  @Christina, we're on the same wavelength!

I’ve been searching long and hard for a dragon deck, tarot or oracle, but the usual suspects just don’t do it for me.  I think I’ve been spoiled by my first dragon loves, the four elemental dragons in the Celtic Animal Oracle, Smaug for earth, Nessie for water, Pendragon for air (a pennant in the wind), and a very fiery fire-breather.  (I might have said this already, but) the newish World Dragon Oracle is such a disappointment.  I was looking forward to learning about and enjoying dragons of different cultures, but they all look alike, and the booklet has very little information.

So I found this deck, much more new-agey than my usual (involving channeling and angelic realms), but interesting, and all the dragons differ in appearance.  Most illustrations are close-ups of faces instead of whole bodies.  (I feel like this rather different take on dragons fits in with my Enchanted Unicorn Oracle, a very different take on unicorns, both conceptually and visually.  Love those silly psychedelic critters!)

The dragons are divided into four “prides,” the fallen, the earthly, the heavenly, and the archangels, and they have quirky names, such as Dreams I Dream and Gaian Star.  The back is the Pendragon, the leader of all the dragons.  44 cards.

So let’s see what these dragons have to say!

What is your most important characteristic?  Iridium Moon

The deck is a beautiful dream.  Attractive but ultimately an illusion.

What is your strength?  Serene is the Night

It has a calming, gentle effect.

Your weakness?  Heart Truth

But it might not speak actual truth.  Or emotional truth.

What can you teach me?  Angelic Wisdom

It can teach angelic wisdom, but is that the same as actual wisdom?

How can I learn it?  In Ruins

To actually take the deck seriously, I would have to scrap at least some of my skepticism and naturalism.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  The Hatching

(I want this to be the Hatchling!)  The end is in the beginning.  My use of this deck this week will be just the beginning of learning about what dragons have to tell me.

Ok, we’ll see about all that!  In the meantime, aren’t they cute?!

Can I join?  I am working this week with the Santa Muerte.  It's a deck I like in theory but have not connected to at all.

I am continuing to hang out with The Greenwood TarotV.jpeg.3a17c873082794b045822e1fca689914.jpeg by Mark Ryan & Chesca Potter.  Some of the Major Arcana cards correspond to some RWS Major Arcana cards.  Some do not.  The ordering is different.

I really love the description of the ‘I The Ancestor’ that corresponds to ‘The Hierophant’.  It speaks about the ‘Call of the Wild’:

“The Ancestor is linked to the part of our soul that is most ancient and most closely related to the Earth archetypes that represent nature.  The calling can initiate the first steps from the patience of winter to the first glimmerings of the coming of spring.  The Ancestor is a guardian of the sacred heart of the land and summons you by beating the drum to the heartbeat of the Earth and welcoming the dawn.  It is the part of you that unconsciously heard the drum and stirred to the first desire to walk the path that is at work here…”

Yes you may @Elaina! Welcome to the group 🙂

The DoW Group is a fun and enlightening way to share how your decks can work for others, to highlight new or unique reading techniques and spreads, and perhaps to introduce new decks for other members.

And welcome back @Natural Mystic Guide

I am still struggling with these cards.  I am just not feeling it.  I like the deck fine, but there's not much feeling in it.

It's reading fine, and even called me out today about being overwhelmed and lazy (I did the reading just a few minutes ago for yesterday and bed rotted all day).

Sorry about your experience! Some times we just don't click with a deck. This happens all the time with my decks. I'll put a deck away and come back to it later and it will read just fine at a later date, maybe. It's almost like they have personalities!
