We have the Two of Wands, starting the cycle of a new astrological year around the Vernal Equinox. The Three of Disks/Pentacles turns Mars energy into hard but joyful work. The Five of Cups deals with disappointments and plans going wrong. In the Seven of Wands, we are stuck again - this energy turns into aggression that we feel is directed against us. The rusty Nine of Swords forces us to take stock, overcome our blockades and deal with things we just stared at before. In the Ten of Cups, Mars reaches a lovely equilibrium. You might say that there are three "positive" Mars minors and three "problematic" ones. Obviously, each card holds potential and challenges, but what do we see first? In the Two of Wands, Three of Disks and Ten of Cups, the potential just jumps out to us. And in the Five of Cups, Seven of Wands and Ten of Swords, we see the problems first. On the Tree of Life, Gvurah, the sephirah associated with Mars, is the fifth "station" of the divine light on its journey from high above to our daily world, and it shines red like the planet. I really enjoyed following this. Thank you. Edited March 26 by FindYourSovereignty

I want to add a song by The Queens of the Stoneage that I find particularily epic and orgasmic: The live version of I think I lost my headache. In the last century, I did my thing as a techno DJ. My music had to blast and rumble. This tune is one of my all time favourites: The Ark – Punkadelic. So raw! Imagine listening to this on a good sound system in a car driving down an empty motorway at night. It made me drunk with bliss. I like that Ark - Punkadelic...while it isn't the same genre at all for some reason it gave me a flashback of a full-on style psytrance phase I briefly went through and had forgotten about
Babalon Jones Posted March 27 Posted March 27 I have to laugh at the Wonder Woman bullet proof bracelet thing, as I wore dual metal bracelets for many years. I still wear like 3-5 inches of tight beads on both wrists, reverting back to what I wore as a teen. They never come off. I have a very prominent Mars in my chart, so makes sense. Don't think I would ever wear the Wonder Woman get up though. But I did once create completely by hand, with no pattern, a Xena-the-Warrior-Princess costume, made completely out of pleather and duct tape, for a work Halloween party. Complete with leather studded gauntlets. It came out good and won first place, but was a little scandalous combined with the male winner's costume. He was a body builder and wore nothing but a coconut bra and an African penis gourd. Of course when they gave the awards out he picked me up like a barbell over his head, the show-off. The company had a certain gravitas, and so they had to delete the pictures from the company server, LOL. It's all very Mars though, innit?

JoyousGirl Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) For this Decan Walk I've been doing lots of reading and I'm taking an experiential approach. I'm observing my self (an Aries 'thing') and whatever is going on in the news during this Mars in Aries Decan. For my initial contribution, I'm going to offer some keywords. These probably apply across the Decan, but there's double-Mars here in my mind. Is there a global "vibe" consistent with these? Action -Adventure - Aggression - Ambitious - Aspire - Assertive - Audacious - Authentic - Battle - Blood - Brave - Bursting forth - Cheerful - Confidence - Courage - Create/destroy - Danger - Daring - Defence - Disruptive - Dominant - Ebullient - Energy - Enthusiasm - Explosiveness - Fiery - Fight - Force - Forward movement - Fun - Generosity - Head - Hot-tempered - Impulsive - Infantile - Inflame - Jovial - Martial - Mobile - Outrageous - Overflowing - Passion - Phallic - Police - Power - Primal - Quest - Racecar driving - Rage - Ram - Rambunctious - Ramming - Risk - Self-centred - Self-confidence - Shocking - Smith - Soldier - Sports - Spring (NH)/Autumn (SH) - Spring lamb - Surgeon/Surgery - Tantrum - Tumultuous - Uncontrolled - Unfiltered - Urges - Violence - War - Warmth - Weaponry - Woe. I'm still trawling through my books for a really apt quote or myth. Edited March 27 by JoyousGirl
FindYourSovereignty Posted March 27 Posted March 27 I noticed this morning that since Aries started I've been speaking loudly, almost shouting my daily mantra, affirmations, and EFT clearings firmly and with strong intention. I usually say my mantra silently in my head and the affirmations and clearings with my normal voice. How fascinating that the energy just naturally moved into a more forceful, determined voice.
FindYourSovereignty Posted March 27 Posted March 27 7 hours ago, JoyousGirl said: I'm observing my self (an Aries 'thing') Makes sense for the first house. I follow step astrology where in each house the first decan 0-9⁰ is about self, the second decan 10-19⁰ is about self in community, and the third decan 20-29⁰ is self in the world. It is characterized and influenced by the energy of the Sign. For this walk I will be including the planets I have within a decan. I'd love to include the moon, but I need to pace myself.

I am no astrologer, thanks for this snippet. It is a good thing to be mindful of in the practice for the cycles. Wheels within wheels and worlds within worlds sort of thing, ya know.

Nice. These are evocative of feelings I associate with Mars. (Except possibly Jovial, only because it was derived from the word Jove for Jupiter, and I can't seem to get that out of my head.) But seeing things like rambunctious and sports and unfiltered help fill out this decan for me. And Infantile is one I hadn't associated before, but it makes a lot of sense! Thanks for adding.

fire cat pickles Posted March 28 Posted March 28 For these first Mars decans I'm following my personal astro transits in the Mars aspects. I won't be posting details, but following up here with some patterns that are noticeable. Mars is trine with all my planets except Jupiter tomorrow. (I don't follow "modern" planets and luminaries beyond Jupiter, by the way.)
Nemia Posted March 28 Posted March 28 In the Hebrew calendar, Aries is called "taleh" טלה which means lamb. It belongs to the Hebrew month of Nissan that starts tomorrow (with the New Moon). Nissan is the Passover month. So we're on the last day of Adar today. I've always been interested in calendars, and the Hebrew calendar is interesting. It's a lunar calendar, but it corrects the inconsistencies by adding an additional month from time to time. And it's aligned with the zodiac more closely than our Gregorian calendar. This is a floor mosaic from the 6th century in Bet Alfa, found in an ancient synagogue. Instead of the months, you see the names of the mazalot, the "fortunes" of the zodiac. In Hebrew, the zodiac is called "galgal ha-mazalot", the Wheel of Fortunes/Lucks. Each zodiac sign is a mazal, a luck all of its own. Another calendar I find strangely interesting is the French Republican Calendar, this totally mad and artificial idea of changing everything to make it more rational. It was in use only for a few years and would probably have run into all kinds of problems. Well, today is the 8th Germinal, and doesn't sound that nice and germinating? So according to that calendar, we have moved on from Ventose, the windy month, into Germinal, the month of germinating seeds. When the revolutionaries designed this calendar, they gave beautiful and poetic names to the months. They even went so far as to give lovely names to each day - today is Jonquil. My mother just sent me these pictures from her home and garden - an old farm where I grew up. How fitting.
Ferrea Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) While in university, I wrote a term paper on Italian Futurism. I find the diction of the manifesto (1909, by the way) unforgettable. Besides making a love for dynamism and a pioneering spirit palpable, it exposes the shadow side of Aries/Mars: a deep contempt for anything Yin, basically. Here is the first page on Wikipedia. A sculpture by Umberto Boccioni (1913). Edited March 28 by Ferrea

And Emile Zola's classic novel, Germinal, named after the month, fits too. Miners go on strike. Wikipedia quotes this from the novel's ending -- Men were springing forth, a black avenging army, germinating slowly in the furrows, growing towards the harvests of the next century, and their germination would soon overturn the earth. FindYourSovereignty Posted March 29 Posted March 29 As we near the end of the first decan of Aries, I am crowning myself with the following truth: Protecting the boundaries of my dreams, Self-Love is my Power, Listening to my Heart is the cue, Believing in myself is the key, Knowing where I belong is the result. My mind works for my Heart. Receiving is essential. Intuition is my ally and my guide. Committing to BE-ing authentically me, I act on BE-coming the person I am here to be. I am Sovereign. I am Whole. I am united in the WE-go.
