A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Thank you, sweet Fire cat for another week. I'm in with the Hidden Realms Tarot, paired with the Heart of Faerie Oracle:

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
―Oprah Winfrey

We have many reasons to celebrate - graduations, weddings, births and birthdays. But these fairies are celebrating just for the heck of it. Without all the plans and formalities, this spontaneous get-together has no expectations other than to have fun and share each other's company. This lively party doesn't even have a guest list; it's open to anyone who wants to laugh, dance and have a good time. The Lady of Sorrows is a hoarder of hurts. She's easy to recognize in groups because she's too busy griping instead of enjoying herself. But her resentments are like acid reflux, hurting her every time she relives them. As Wendy Froud writes, "To feed on hurts and sorrow is to live, perhaps, but never to thrive." Forgiveness grants us the light and space for flourishing.

Hi, everybody!  Happy to be here again!

I’m thinking this week will be a challenge, but I’m ready to try!  I’ll be delving into Chinese animal astrology with Tibetan Oracle Pack and Chinese Five Elements Oracle.

I’ve had the Tibetan Oracle Pack by Stephen Skinner for many years and tried to figure it out, but, even though it makes sense at first, it becomes too complicated very quickly.  The art is based on a 17th century Tibetan manuscript, but the concepts are contemporary feng shui, which has roots in the Tang dynasty (618-906 CE).  The cards have color and other image symbolism and include birth years and feng shui flying stars (number squares).  You can see how I get lost!

Chinese Five Elements Oracle, by feng shui consultant Vicki Iskandar (Hay House), seems a bit simpler (we’ll see about that!) with realistic-to-cute animal illustrations and key phrases.

The basic concept is a combination of 5 elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, water) with 12 animals (rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, bird, dog, pig) for a set of 60 “pillars,” that is, personality types, and cards.

You can calculate the pillars for your birth year, month, day, and hour.  This is often used to figure out romantic/marriage compatibility and an individual’s lucky directions, locations, and time periods, among other things.

I think the best way to do this week is to use the corresponding cards together.  And I’ll start slow and see how far I get.  (Complicated by the fact that today is full moon reading day, and rule 1 in the guidebook is avoid new and full moons because they’re all yin and all yang.  But I’ll live dangerously, I guess.)  Wish me luck!

Short interview in the spirit of starting slow:

What is your strength?  Water Rat, Focus on Your Vision

The deck helps me see what can be, not just what is.

Your weakness?  Earth Ox, One with the Universe

It’s a little too earthy or down to earth.  And there’s not ox here?  Only a sigil of one on the wall.

What can I learn from you?  Water Ox, Softness and Gentleness

But oxen are obviously important because here are two.

I’m not really a soft and gentle person, just quiet and antisocial.  So this is probably a good thing for me to learn.  Booklet says water ox is associated with late winter, the most yin time of year.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Earth Monkey, You Can Move Mountains

Earth is the mountain, monkey is the determined warrior.

I will learn this method of divination if it’s the last thing I do!

Well, we’ll see!
