A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at anytime—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Thank you, dear Fire cat! I'm in with the Idiosyncradeck Tarot paired with the Mixed Emotions cards.

Suspicion comes out of the unrenewed mind; discernment comes out of the renewed spirit.
―Joyce Meyer

"Don't make any major decisions for a year" is advice often heard in the rooms of recovery. It usually takes that long for the brain to recover and come back online so that we see and understand reality clearly. The Moon suggests a pause as well, either because we are physically exhausted, emotionally drained, or currently in the middle of drama or chaos. Vulnerable suggests we are unprotected because of a lack of discernment. We're not processing information and facts accurately at the moment, and should heed Lao Tzu's question: "Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?"

Hi all!  This week I’m going to try a Divining Poets deck without pairing and see if it turns out differently:  Divining Poets: Clifton.  Lucille Clifton is an American poet who passed in 2010.  I’m pretty sure she spoke to my college women’s literature class in 1980.  Our professor gave us photocopied samples of her poems to review beforehand.

The deck box claims she used a spirit board, and the backs of the cards are an illustration of a hand and planchet.  The decoration on the fronts is an illuminated eye.  The quotes are shorter than those of the other decks, so we’ll see how that goes too.

Interview time!

What is your most important characteristic?

it is the light in us

it is the light of us

The deck emphasizes that the magic is in us, not in the cards.  And the magic is not something alien lodging in us, it’s a part of and the sum of us.

What is your strength?

someone calling itself Light

has opened my inside.

I am flooded with brilliance

Well these go together!  All one has to do is open to the light and it’s there.

Your weakness?

the small gatherings

gathered in sorrow or joy

The deck is more personal, less helpful when talking about groups and others.

What can you teach me?

some of us know

we have never felt safe

That’s a hard lesson.  I generally feel safe, but others never feel safe, whether it’s real or imagined danger.  (It’s probably upbringing.  I grew up literally safe but was also 100% convinced that my parents would do absolutely anything for us kids.)  I need to recognize that in others and not downplay their feelings because mine are different.

How can I learn it?

somebody need a map

to understand you.

Pay attention to the maps.  Try to understand even if it’s hard.

What will be the outcome of our work together?

All ride out on the

empty air

I have nothing to go on but the “empty air” of words.  But I can definitely ride on that!

I'm still in with the LeNono Fortune telling cards.  HOpefully this week I have time to share my final reading (for now).  Next week I shall visit my friend from Australia who gifted me the book and who regularly uses these cards.  She prefers these to Tarot.  Me?  I'm more of an intuitive reader, there's not much here to work with in that regard.  It is fun, though.
