Yep, it's me again---old gabby Grizabella.  I've come back to stay this time, but I'll try not to be a nuisance.  Tons of things have happened in my life since I was last here, the latest being a broken hip and a hip replacement the first week of April and now recovery, I celebrated a 40th sobriety anniversary in May and now I'm moving again within this same RV park, this time into a place that's permanent.  (How many times have I vowed "I'll never move again" because I hate moving, but then went on to move again?)  Anyway, it's the same old me, but I'll be happy to socialize here again.

Welcome back and congrats Grizzabella. Hopefully it will feel like you're slipping into a comfy (but firmly supportive) old chair.

Wow!  Thanks for all the welcome back posts!  I'm glad I'm welcome! 😅I'm such a blabbermouth that sometimes I think I'm probably just annoying.

So much has happened while I've been gone that it seems like it's been an eternity in some ways.  The broken hip was a major event and one that I never hope to have to endure again.  My phone was on the charger across the room and I was home alone, not near any window or door, so I had to figure out  how to get help if I didn't want to sit there on the floor all night.  I had no idea when anyone would come within yelling distance.  I couldn't move because the pain was agonizing if I tried to even scoot an inch at a time.  I finally got ahold of the broom and that reached over to the phone so I dragged the phone off onto the floor and then dragged it within reach.  I texted my daughter and told her to call 911 because I thought I'd broken my hip.  My son, two doors down from me, came over to help carry me to the ambulance, bless his heart.  Normally I'm not fond of being put to sleep for surgery, but in this case, I couldn't wait.  I was in so much pain I can't even describe it.  I live 50 miles from the nearest hospital and that's an hour when driving so I had to try not to cry and beg for pain relief like a big baby for the whole ambulance ride.  After the ambulance ride and the surgery, then I had to go to a rehab place for two weeks.  Then had to have occupational and physical therapy at home for a couple weeks. As of now, I'm pretty much back to normal but not as self-sufficient as I used to be.

As you know, I still just have just one day---today---to work on like everyone else. Thank you, though.  🥰

Thank you!

My life has been a challenge ever since I was born, when the doctor had had too much to drink and failed to show up.  Nuns delivered me in his absence.  LOL

How awful and frightening Grizabella 😑.  I'm so sorry that happened to you and glad you're on the mend.

Blabber away! 🙂🙃🙂.

I've been absent for quite a while too - and nice to pop back again.

Welcome back and congratulations on 40 years of sobriety! That’s amazing. Also, moving is pure hell. I get it lol

Thank you! 🙂

The surgery was a blessing.  The recuperation wasn't bad either.  What was really rough was having the break itself.  That's the worst pain I've ever experienced. Where I live, there's an hour drive to the hospital on a two lane road in an ambulance that's like riding in the back of an old pickup truck and even though I usually don't like being put to sleep, in this case, I couldn't wait.  Anything to put me out of my misery was welcome. The ball on the hip part of my femur had sheared off.  Even the slightest move was agony.

Oh my goodness, that's awful! Sometimes we have to do what's necessary even if it isn't ideal. I'm glad that's behind you and you can focus on healing!
