Cora Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Since I been doing daily draws with the Lenormand, I realize that it straight out tells you what’s going to happen. I don’t find it cryptic but it’s like trying to figure out the correct answer. For instance some of it can be literal. ex. clover + fish a small fortune. where some I’m left confused Ex. snake + tree medicine that’s contraband? I find it fascinating as well you really do have to analyze your day to figure out where the cards are at play. I do admit at times I let the my own combination influence me only to realize it means something different 🫣 Also for some reason I feel that this is more straight to the point than tarot cards 😆 cause with tarot I adding color, feelings, intuition, etc meanwhile with the Lenormand I just need to figure out the combinations. However, I’m still I’m still in the beginning stages 😅
DanielJUK Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 oh totally agree. It's very direct and is great for predictions and insight into an issue. No nuance, just telling you what you want to hear. However it takes practice to get used to the combinations and see the messages. You have to learn the individual cards and the system, and then see how it turns out. I changed my ideas of the cards, doing regular readings. Like it makes more sense as this than that. Eventually, it is easier to see the messages in the combos. I think this was why it became really popular, it's direct and a quick answer. Tarot is still good at going really deep, getting all the themes and the nuanced answers, it has a lot more symbolism. They both have different purposes in my view and sometimes I read with both in a reading 🙂 If you read for the week ahead.... with Lenormand it will be like "this will happen" Tarot will be like, you have these themes in your life right now and dealing with this, but this will happen It gets to the same place in the end.
joy Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Hey @Cora dailies always have to be toned down, which makes it a bit more complicated. It is not always easy to know what the cards say. Do you always ask a specific question? Your example Snake & Tree Snake is complications but also detours. Maybe when you had to go somewhere you could not get straight to that point but it was a draining detour.
Cora Posted July 14, 2025 Author Posted July 14, 2025 @joy I don’t ask specific questions. My only question for Lenormand is “what can I expect today?” But I’m planning to branch out and do some fiction reading. I have many fiction books laying around at home, so I might as well start those. I just need to figure out how to ask the questions. Also thank you for the explaining of snake + tree. Honestly those are hard and I’m trying to figure out with the Lenormand, can we use the animals traits as well do we need to use religious symbolism. ex Snake from Adam and Eve, Tree from Tree of Life, Bodhi Tree
Cora Posted July 14, 2025 Author Posted July 14, 2025 @DanielJUK So I have a confession. I honestly am not going through a system nor had I actually sat on studied each card individually. I do watch Donnaleigh videos on YouTube. I also read Rana book but that’s when it was released 😂 and I no longer have her book. I do plan to buy Andy book within this month, but at the moment I’m slowly going through Iris Treppner course (I really need to explore the entire forum since I recently found it on the forum due to curiosity). I do admit that tarot is good since there is a lot of symbolism and I tend to analyze each card. But I’m currently burned out so when I stare at it nothing comes to mind 😅 I don’t know why I did not thought that. Now I wanna read for the week ahead. I had done it for tarot but not with the Lenormand. Question How many cards are that? Is that 9 cards? And if so, I use a lady as the querent? Or I use no querent and just lay the cards?

Maybe ask how the trip to work will go, or a meeting or shopping etc. 2 hours ago, Cora said: I have many fiction books laying around at home, so I might as well start those. Lenormand is its own system, and it is better you get a book and start with the basics. Otherwise, you will get totally confused.

There is no judgement here, in the T,T&M confessional 🙂 There is some good advice about Lenormand in our FAQ here. Stick to one source of meanings because the authors have different opinions and it gets really confusing. Also I think it's worth always referring to this sheet from 1903 that was printed in a magazine for a Lenormand deck, people see it as a source of traditional meanings.... (from Mary Greer's blog) https://marykgreer.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/evening-worlds-magazine-tell-fortunes-1903-version-21.jpg @joy and I have been experimenting and think that you need to keep the cards on the Lenormand traditional idea of each card, the more you move away from it, the less accurate it gets. However that is one view, some people have modern ideas and their own interpretations but it's good to at least know the base idea of each card. Also when I first started studying the cards, I was obsessed with learning combos but really try to learn each card and all the ways it could appear. The knowledge of each card is the most important because then when you have them together, it just flows beautifully. I always go back in a reading and refer to that sheet, just check I haven't strayed too far from it in my reading before posting. When I did weekly readings (for years), I did 3 cards every Monday. I like 3 cards, it can tell you so much and isn't too much work. You can also do 5 and 7 card lines. For me, the centre card is always the core theme of the time. I used to do 9 card spreads for each month, I read all the different directions and so doing it weekly, would be so time-consuming for me! You can see the different 9 card spread ideas in the Lenormand exchange sign up threads. I personally don't lay out a signficator but I choose a card before the reading and see if it appears in the reading because that would be important. However some people find it important to choose a card for the centre of the 9 card spread as a focus for what they want to read on. But you are practising with them, so you are going to get better at them 🙂
