A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at any time—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Hi!  I'm here finally!  Don't you hate it when work gets in the way of tarot?!

This week will be Mindscapes Tarot, a new offering from Hay House, continuing my landscapes deck acquisition streak.  There are a few people and animals, but it’s mostly empty landscapes, with and without human artifacts, painted in pastels.

The majors have astro attributions and an artist-designed glyph.  There are two extra majors, The Catacomb and The Great Work.  The suits are Branches, Tides, Spires, and Stones.  (Spires are mountains, not human-built towers.)  The suit cards make an attempt to show the same scene over time, most obviously in the Stones suit.

The booklet provides “actions” for the majors, affirmations for the courts, and journal prompts for the suit cards, along with two custom spreads.

Let’s see what the deck can do!  Interview time.

What is your most important characteristic?  The Great Work (extra major)
It truly is a magical or alchemical deck.  It takes itself seriously.

What is your strength?  Six of Tides
The deck can take me places.

Your weakness?  The Hierophant
It’s not very traditional, which is its goal. It thinks tradition is old-fashioned and limiting.  (And smoky.)

What can you teach me?  Two of Spires
It can teach me to make my own decisions of which way I want to go.  Even if both options seem very similar.

How can I learn it?  Eight of Stones
By working at it and putting my mind to it.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  Nine of Stones
I will feel like the deck is a beautiful addition to my collection of art.

I'd love to see a list of these one day as I'm keen on getting one or two of my own.

I'm in with the Rosetta Tarot paired with the Day of the Dead Lenormand - thank you Fire cat!

Rosetta Tarot, Eight of Wands; Day of the Dead Lenormand, Book

Don't watch the clock; do what it does. Keep going.
—Sam Levenson.

Meleen describes this card as a visual representation of the electrical stimulation of the brain. Fire enters the realm of intellect and knowledge, requiring swift decisions and creative solutions. The Book indicates knowledge and education. Sometimes the cards I pull are so literal, they make me laugh. Many years ago, when my daughter was young, I created a memorial to honor our ancestors for the fall equinox. The pictures were accompanied by trinkets and miniatures that described their lives. For instance, my great-grandmother had a tiny trunk because she spent months traveling overseas with her sisters (leaving behind husbands and children). I'm lucky in that my mother put together five booklets about the ancestors on her side (the family album for the Book!). I've decided to do this again, so I've been busy reading them and making notes, but I also need to do some research on my biological father. I never included him before, but as one teacher reminded me, my life wouldn't exist without him, and that's something. He was a medic helicopter pilot in Korea and Vietnam, so I'll find a little helicopter for him. I've got until September 22 to be ready!

A list you say?  I have a list!  It's short but balanced: two tarots, two oracles.

Mindscapes Tarot, Hay House
Naturescapes Tarot, Make Playing Cards

The Bloodlands Oracle, Schiffer Red Feather
Nakisha’s Oracle, Etsy, RabbitTarot

Including this week, I've used them all as decks of the week, so check out my journal for samples.

(Thanks for asking.  I love sharing my category lists.)

Thanks. I vaguely recall the Landscapes Tarot, which I was looking at with interest last week but am not so sure about. I'll look forward to your next post then!
