Christgal1983 Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 I am a beginner in tarot. I just read through the meanings of all the cards recently, not yet memorized them. What are some good tarot books you recommend for me and why? Thanks for your recommendations!
Raggydoll Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 The New Tarot Handbook by Rachel Pollack is a great place to start. An easy read, yet it contains all the basics and more!
Nemia Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 I found Mary K. Greer's Tarot for Your Self helpful. It's a workbook that makes the cards come alive for you, and it contains a lot of information. It's a classic, and my own copy is filled with my remarks.
DanielJUK Posted November 8, 2025 Posted November 8, 2025 Welcome to the forum @Christgal1983, if you would like to introduce yourself, you are welcome to start a thread in our introductions section here 🙂 edit: you have already started an intro thread, congrats 😄 I've moved your thread to the Tarot and Media area. If you look through this section, there are loads of book reviews and suggestions. Here is a great thread full of beginners suggestions....
purinpudding Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 I'd recommend Lisa Papez's Unlocking the Tarot and Joan Bunning's Big Book of Tarot. I also personally really like Elliot Adam's Fearless Tarot--but his book is card definitions, not a beginner's book, and his definitions can be very different.
