A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at any time—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

I'm in this week with the Rider Marseille Tarot paired with the Ostinato Oracle. Thank you Fire cat! (Btw, I love the Ship of Fools!)

Rider Marseille Tarot, Emperor; Ostinato Oracle, Octtava bassa

Moving awareness from the head to the feet has the effect of settling the mind. This probably occurs because the bottoms of the feet are as far as we can get away from the head.
—Jan Chozen Bays

Uh oh, the Emperor is giving us the side-eye. He's thinking, "Why do they have to color outside of the lines? Why can't they just commit to the organized structure that's in place?" The rams on the armrests are rolling their eyes at this pronouncement; the Emperor's life may be stable, but not everyone else's is. When the world feels as if it has turned upside down - especially right before the holidays - people react in unusual and sometimes extreme ways. The symbol Ottava bassa gives some advice that might actually help. It instructs the musician to play the passage one octave lower than written, thus it encourages us to ground ourselves. Focusing on the senses, whether touch, smell, hearing, sight or taste, can help us move from the loop of stressful thinking to feeling calm and balanced.

Hi everyone!  This week for me will be The Tarot of the Sevenfold Mystery by Robert M. Place.  (The booklet for my copy is author-signed.  I got a reading from him at a Readers Studio, I think in 2014.)  I’m not 100 percent sure why it’s sevenfold.  It seems like the most prevalent theme is three: appetite, reason, and will, in text on many of the cards and symbolized on the backs by the wolf, dog, and lion.  I don’t mind having text on the cards making it easy to see the artist’s intent.  The booklet also gives a title for each card, which I will probably use this week.  Courts are Lady, Knight, Queen, and King.

Happy to be back with a tarot this week.  Let’s give it a whirl!

What is your most important characteristic?  8 Staffs, The Woodcutter

It’s a good deck to cut through the bs and get back to basics but it will take some effort.

What is your strength?  9 Staffs, The Crow

It can be a bit overwhelming, but that can be a good thing.

Your weakness?  Queen of Coins

But I can get lost in the beauty and forget about learning the concepts.

What can you teach me?  XIII Morta

The deck can teach me how to let go of things and what things to let go of.

How can I learn it?  2 Staffs, The Combined Flame (Mercury and Venus)

I can learn what to let go of using my intellect with my feelings.

What will be the outcome of our work together?  3 Cups, The Support Group

The deck will actually be supporting of what I’m trying to do and learn.  The watery cups contain and support the other three elements.

I like the card titles so far!

Welcome back @Bodhiseed and @Rachelcat!

Ship of Fools was drawn at random but seems a fitting deck to bring in the new year!

@Rachelcat, this is from Benebell Wen's website:

"The Sevenfold Mystery is the transcendental philosophy of seven soul centers that are the steps to mystical ascent."

Thanks!  A Western chakra system it looks like.  Most probably coordinated with the planets.  Something like the you add the characteristics of each celestial sphere as you descend to life and then shed them as you ascend after life.  The converse of Innana's seven veils perhaps.  I'm overthinking my mythology again!

Thanks for the info!  There's always more to investigate!
