A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck.

No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us!

  • Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week
  • Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you
  • Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here
  • Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form

Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at any time—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in!

Good morning, Fire cat! Thanks for the new thread. I'm in this week with the Badgers Forest and my Gemstone Oracle.

The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
—Dorothy Parker

Curiosity is what gets this Kit/Page out of bed every morning. It's not so much that he craves certainty, it's just that the world is so interesting and surprising that it pulls him like a magnet.  He follows a mystery, asks questions and reads to find answers, only to discover another wonder to uncover. Moss Agate symbolizes growth and natural cycles. As Frederick Douglas said, "Inaction is followed by stagnation." Our minds work the same way - if we think we have all the answers, they become closed and inflexible. As Socrates said, "Wisdom begins in wonder."

Hi, all!  A new week already!

This week will be Maya Astro Cards.  I found it on Amazon after seeking out the older Maya calendar deck I had long ago and then rebought and used here in December, The Mayan Oracle: A Galactic Language of Light.  Maya Astro Cards is by a German author who has refined a system for reading with the Maya calendar, so her explanations and interpretations seem to make more sense, but the art isn’t really my style.  I like the bold art of the Mayan Oracle much better, so I’ll use them together this week.

She calls the 20 symbols “seals” and the numbers 1-13 “tones.”  She has added the four elements (called “root races”?!) as color names to each seal.  The extra cards are the elements, Portal Day, Wave, and some sun and moon cards.  I can’t figure it out from the booklet, and I’ve googled around, but I don’t know how the “portal days” are calculated, which I’d like to know because according to the booklet my birthdate is a portal day.

Because I’m so new to this system, I’m going to do a birthdate reading for me here instead of an interview and then the current day cards reading for each day this week.  Let’s see how that goes.

I guess I shouldn’t publish my birthdate, so trust me bro!

My birthdate: Red (earth) Moon (seal not planet), Tone 7 – Resonant, Portal Day

Summarizing the booklet:

Root Race Red:  Earth element; powerful, doer, want to direct and take responsibility, physical wellbeing is important.

Red Moon:  Very Taurus.  I’m Taurus rising and Taurus moon, so the text makes sense.  Sensual, passionate, physical, celebrate life.  Prone to drama, which I’m totally not; I try to avoid drama as much as I can.  Love knowledge and education but maybe share that too much, acting like a know-it-all.  I’ll definitely accept that accusation!

Tone 7 – Resonant:  Easygoing and laissez faire; know what’s important without stressing about it.  Not sure how that equates to “resonant,” but maybe we’ll see.

Portal Day:  My soul decided what life I wanted to be born into so I could experience it fully.

This is the new age concept that turned me completely skeptical on all spiritual ideas (as I already was for Christian/religious ideas).  This is obviously nothing but wishful thinking, a desire to feel like we’re in control of things we don’t have any control over.  AND it can easily turn into victim-blaming.  “You’re having a difficult time or life because deep down you really wanted it.”  Such terrible bs.

Ok, off my soapbox now and ready to have fun with this deck.
