I wasn't able to sleep last night because of that sweet sweet California summer heat, so I checked the kickstarter and in the literal last hour of the campaign, I saw that someone dropped their early bird pledge, so I quickly switched mine and got it. Woo! those 7 bucks are certainly worth saving.

 

I'm very happy we're getting the seal. I'm a dork and I like stuff like that, makes me feel fancy and aristocratic. I'm really curious about how the gold and silver foil are going to look together.

Lo sarabeo said clearly that this kickstarter campaign will be the only occasion they are going to sell this deck.

I can't find that. I read a couple of places where they said it was only going to be available on Kickstarter, but that leaves it open for them to include leftovers on other campaigns. I say this because anyone who missed out and is now regretting it (or regrets it come February) may still have a chance at a new deck.

 

And if you aren't regretting it because you backed it, have a read of this explanation of the deck if you haven't already. Very illuminating.

I can't find that. I read a couple of places where they said it was only going to be available on Kickstarter, but that leaves it open for them to include leftovers on other campaigns. Exactly. Per their KS page: "Please understand that this edition of the Visconti Modrone Tarot is ONLY for Kickstarter: we will not sell it directly to any distributor or retailers, and every request to sell the deck outside Kickstarter will be denied."

 

The bolding of "this edition" is mine, but it certainly leaves plenty of room for interpretation, and I personally believe, a mass market produced edition will come down the road. 

 

Anyway, no regrets here LOL  ;D

No idea, it's a bit cryptic.  But I hope anyone who wants one can get one!

There are lots of places to get wax, including flexible sealing wax that will survive the rigours of the postal system :)  My favourite is handmade by Atelier Gargoyle or J.Herbin.  Gouletpens.com sells both, as do plenty of other wonderful retailers.  The most important part definitely is the seal itself.  I can't wait to see it and use it.  <3

Wow.  :o  So there goes that statement of "this edition" not being available outside of Kickstarter right out the window LOL. And the video shows the box with the book (in colour), coin, seal and wax in it. So, does that mean we will get the wax after all?  The perks aren't really clear (at least to my eye, anyway) since they're using the same photos from the Kickstarter.  No mention of the silver and gold foiling either.  Interesting.  So, I am assuming the Indiegogo supporters receive the same deck as the Kickstarter supporters?  It just says it will have gold foiling, a nice box and a book.  Oh well, I guess it's another opportunity for people to get their hands on a beautiful deck, who may have missed out on the Kickstarter. 

 

And, as Queen of Nothing[/member] said, an additional 2 months is a good, long time frame to make sure everyone who wants one, will get one.  I often wish that Kickstarters had longer windows. Sometimes, I want to support several and financially can't always do it, so a longer window would be helpful for probably a lot of folks.  Heck, I may order another one or two to give as gifts.  I just want to know if we're going to get the exact same deck and perks through this campaign as we did from the Kickstarter. I think I'll reach out to them and see what they say.

This is the link to the Indiegogo here that they put on all their social networks. There is confusion about this though, customers are asking if it's the same as the Kickstarter with stretch goals included, no reply yet.

I think they probably added indiegogo as they can't actually start work without any money (they are a small company) and also KS always has a cut off date - and at that date they release the money - assuming a campaign was fully funded.

 

MANY people still wanted in, and so they added indiegogo, as they couldn't add people via KS. About the stretch goals I have no idea. But the indiegogo just refers to preordering, so I would suspect not.

They are replying to customers on social networks today to say it will be the same as the KS version with all added stretch goals. They want as many people to benefit from this deck as possible, but maybe like gregory says have as much money to get started on the production of the deck. I think also a lot of people missed out on the KS and been contacting them as a company.

While the blurb is the same as the KS, I don't remember that video (did I miss it?). If they make such a feature of the wax, I think they have to be planning on including it. Perhaps that's one of the reasons they want the extra finance.

On a slight change of topic, does anyone know the right way to pronounce Modrone? In my head it's been mod-ROH-ney. Like they say padrone in the Godfather. Only I saw a video on it in the other day narrated by an American and he said mod-ROAN.

If it was Italian it would be Mo-dro-ne.  Type it into google translate and choose Italian then you can listen to the pronunciation. ;)

Second asked me to make sure I filled in the survey it had just sent. What survey?! As both were sent from a "no-reply@" address, I'm at a loss what to do. Anyone else who got these e-mails and understood them, I'd really appreciate a steer.

Yes. But how? I can't see which button to press to let me enter my address. I need some serious keystroke by keystroke instructions to let me enter new info. I didn't register with Kickstarter so I have never entered my address. I need to do so now or I won't get the deck.
