Lenormand, where to start?

Not yet sure how much of a help the verses are or if they are more of a distraction. Guess will find out. 🥰

Please do share your thoughts as you work with the cards! 😊 I didn't pay attention to the verses when I first got the deck, but the verses help with remembering the near/far meanings. If you're sticking with reading lines of three/five, which is what I was doing to learn the cards' essences (to use Andy's word!), they might not be too helpful unless a Significator card or the Clouds show up in the line. Just my opinion--always curious to hear what others think!

I will, and that is interesting I do read the verses though as I find them interesting!

I do, too! I've been meaning to compare my Cartamundi/Brepols verses with the French verses on an old Dondorf. I would assume they're similar, since all are based on the Philippe Lenormand sheet? But I find the rhymes/phrasing charming, for sure! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences.

Verses are a crapshoot. I hear the french ones on the Brepols are top of the line.
Worst of the worst? The Blue Bird, I would say. Both editions. And everything else runs the gamut in between.
Admittedly, I have some verses I've never translated. The Frakur German on the C.L. Wüst is...daunting. But probably very good.
But you can't go wrong with a Brepols in French!

Hi again, Joy!

I am wondering if your German Verses on your deck are the identical ones, that I have on my Red Owl deck, or if they are only "sinngemäß"= in essence the same?

Here I send you 2 Red Owl ones I got from the net:

I do not have a German version, I have this one

Verses are:

10 Scythe

O, dread the scythe, that you must, when to you it is near,

and hope e friendly environment will aid against the evil you fear.

17 Stork

Change and relocation are what the stork promises to you,

but if he is quite far away your present situation will do.

That does not translate to the German in your cards.

Hey @Mi-Shell with regards to the English/German version I did not even notice that. That is so weird and I can not remember if I had seen a German or English version when I ordered it 😆 How weird!
