I love this place. We have the most unexpected discussions. 😁

Indeed 😂 I saw parts of this conversation when I clicked Recent activity and I wish I could say that I was surprised. But not really. Unexpected topics are to be expected here

The shape on the panther is very unfurlike.
I didn't want to do this, but:

If there was any similarity between that and a tuft of fur, my poor floofy dogs would be mistaken for having penises growing all over them.

When you have a painting differences are not that pronounced. As a cat person, - sorry, but it DOES look OK and not like a doggy penis.

I like that point of view.  I'll include it in my suggestions for a revised Dulac.

I WAS in the mood for a deck buy darn it!  Now I've de-enabled myself!  and now knowing what I suspected:  the cards w the large borders are too small for the art, that GORGEOUS ART. I've emailed LoS and I hope they will respond...   Never tried to order fm Italy.

I have several decks on hold, waiting for better revisions.  Oh wait!  The new Primordial Tarot!  I'll get that!!  God knows I waited a loooong time for it to come back!  gregory, I know you have the Origins, but do you also have the newer Primordial?

I have both. Here is not the place to discuss the merits of any deck - not even saying if I like it ! But it could be a primordial pouch you really want...

You know somebody is going to read this thread and create a Tarot of Primordial Pouches and Wrong Penises.

You are ? All power to you ! My only remaining ambition is my psychopomp deck - 3 cards done, won't happen., I expect ! :170:

Not me!
I hold the highly unpopular opinion that it's virtually all been done already. I mean, how do you follow the Thoth or the RWS? Occasionally someone comes up with a new deck that I really, really like, but for the most part, I think the market is flooded with subpar decks, *ducks blows*

A psychopomp deck sounds like fun, though. Do it! Are you going to put Vanth and Charun in it? I like those two. When we start to die, Vanth comes running to comfort us with serpents. Then Charun whacks us with a huge mallet to finish the job. Got to love the Etruscans. 🤣

Disclaimer: This post is not enabling, as the psychopomp deck does not exist. I wish it did, though, on the condition that it's well though out and does not look like anime or a "goddess oracle".

It will be photographic. Majors only. It will never EVER be for sale.

That's an effective de-enable.

SOS -- I should be saving cash but I am a huge fan of Pan's Labyrinth (the film by Guillermo Del Toro) and his other works.

He has a mass-market tarot.  Can anyone de-enable having this for eye candy?

Actually it looks a good deck for a reading after the world ended, like after an atomic war or some other massive disasters, so well... 😁

Yes. And there's no future if that happens, so nothing to predict other than when you're going to run out/be robbed of potable water, if you have any. Or maybe health readings on the effects of radiation. I wouldn't really want to know.

This Is Fine GIF

That's true. Anyway the cards are badly derivative since here the Star card which is Hope clearly shows Hopeless. You'll mislead your sitters with this deck and will lose your reputation. You really want that this will happen? 😬

I only use a few select decks with querents, this one would be more of a token item. And that my shelf space does not need.  De-enabling successful.  Just looking at it now that I've posted they scream, "novelty" item to quickly capitalize

on various imagery from the films. Thanks all.

Do you ever buy a deck for basically one card? I got a tarot sampler app and drew the 7 Swords from the Witches' Tarot. The fellow on it seems like a friend. It's a lovely card. If the other cards were so relatable, I'd grab the deck in a heartbeat, but I'm a bit on the fence about the other cards. I'm wondering if I'd connect with the deck better after some time with it.

there are two Witches Tarot. Do you mean the Reed one or the Dugan one?

Are you witchey in any way? Do you not already have one (or many) RWS decks? Do you Really Need another themed deck? What will it add to your life? How often will you use it? How many of your precious life minutes blood sweat and tears does it take to equal the cost of the deck?

I feel your post is de-enabling all on its own!

Glibness aside, if it’s the Witches Tarot by Reed, it’s OOP and good luck finding it for a suitable price. It’s a pretty cool deck but very niche, even in its use of Qabalah, and though I have a copy it doesn’t get enough use! (Mainly because it is OOP.)

If it’s the Dugan one, I would say it’s honestly just not a very attractive deck to me. And if you only connect with one card, that is no reason to buy a whole deck.

I have bought decks for that “one card,” and I have given away all of them. (Probably could stand to get rid of even more, honestly...)

I hope this helps 🙂

An no, not the Reed... and what a pity as that's a lovely deck. It's the Dugan. I think definitely it's a personal thing, isn't it, as I can see a lot about it that would be perfect for others but just doesn't resonate. Ah well.

I almost feel I need to splurge, buy some (readily in print, so I'm not committing sacrilege) decks, and make a frankendeck. There are always some cards I don't like, so it's usually a case of having a 'majority' that I do.  Sometimes I just wonder about the choices artists make!

Oh these are great questions. I've gone in and out of witchey phases but I've limited belief in the power of intention, which is what a great deal of witchcraft boils down to. But I'm constantly drawn to it. My mother had a bit of the second sight and that kind of old-fashioned stuff was always part of my childhood - you know, tossing a bit of salt over your shoulder and not dropping knives. Generally I feel a little more connection to Druidry... but then I'll borrow another book on witchcraft ahhh I don't know....

Interestingly these questions still apply as I'm looking at a video on the Witches Wisdom tarot, and OMG it's GORGEOUS and I really like a lot of the concepts in the deck. However... do I need to learn another system? Are these rather unique individuals going to help me on my journey more than the archetypes in my old favorites? *sigh*. I guess it's a bit of retail therapy there, isn't it, and that need would be better resolved by some time spent working with a deck and learning instead of adding a new one.

Witches Wisdom tarot

Reading this thread has been delightful. I read through all of it just to make sure I didn't post about a deck that had been deenabled already, and lo and behold, there's the Del Toro deck, the Witches Wisdom, and the Witches tarot by Dugan. All decks I've contemplated in the past. the latter two because I'd been hankering for a deck that felt witchy... But in thinking about it, I deenabled myself, because it's the act of using my decks and practicing my beliefs that makes me feel witchy, not a deck of cards that I really just don't connect with.

The Del Toro would probably sit on my shelf next to my Penny Dreadful deck, which I snapped up after seeing it on the show, before I really asked myself "Why does this period drama horror porn show use a modern tarot deck? Why is it all purple and cream, when purple wasn't a readily available color (if memory serves me correctly) until later?", and before I realized it basically didn't have a guidebook of LWB, it has a card insert with keywords provided for each card. Do I love the Hellboy movies? Yes indeed I do! Would I be able to understand the other cards when I haven't seen Pan's Labyrinth? Probably not at all.

So consider me deenabled from all the decks mentioned here, thank you! My wallet thanks you as well.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask. If it isn't, can you let me know where I should post instead?

I have too many tarot decks. I'm out of space for them. More important - when I have time to read, I spend so much energy figuring out which deck to use or finding the deck I want, that I don't have time to read or I have to rush the reading. When I've asked about this on tarot places before, not here at T, T, & M, I get a bunch of people asking why I want to get rid of them, saying I should keep them just incase I change my mind, and I start questioning myself and pulling things out of the donate pile. My son asked how many decks I had. I assumed between 40 and 50 (I have tarot, oracle, Lenormand, playing cards, and a few others). I counted 95. That wasn't including the ones I've boxed up and told myself that it's time to let go of. If I read with one deck a week, it would take two years to use all of them. I've done amazing with letting go in other areas of my life but any suggestions for letting go of decks? I've always wanted ALL THE STUFF! If one circus themed deck is fun, then seven are better (two tarot, one Lenormand, three playing cards, and one oracle.) I don't even like the circus that much. I do, however like layering my readings with more than one deck and I like them to coordinate, but not match. Which is how I end up with seven circus decks.

I am fortunate to have more than I need. I am blessed to have options and I like having options. But I'm so frustrated with myself for giving into the FOMO and still not being able to let go despite a decided lack of fun with the situation. I don't like having decks hanging around and not getting used. What's the point of having them if I don't use them?

Before anyone asks, most decks are in great shape (because they don't get used a lot), I don't have most of the boxes (if they were the large boxes), and I don't know that most would be worth trying to sell (although a couple might). Any words of wisdom or de-enabling advice? I can provide info about specific decks if that helps.
