What are some good tarot books, which deal in the meanings of the cards?

Prefer keyword based meanings as that is easier to remember.

Rachel Pollack’s 78 Degrees of Wisdom is a good one. Also, Theresa Reed’s Tarot Coloring Book, and Sami Main’s How to Deal: Tarot for Everyday Life.

Kim Huggens: Tarot 101.

ANY of Barbara Moore's books. Your Tarot Your Way might totally fill your bill !

*cough* does this place not have a books section ? It could use one. I wrote a longer post about this ages ago and can't find it !

one of my faves for Tarot Meanings is Biddytarot's The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings. It was an ebook for years on her website but you can buy it as a physical book format on amazon now as well. I learnt with it and find it helpful for reference now. It has her interpretations of each card divided into sections, like love, career, general and also has reversals and some spreads and combinations / numerology articles. I am not the biggest fan of her other books and courses, I think they are overpriced, but the original meanings book is excellent and worth the initial cost to have a reference large encyclopedia you will refer back to forever.

All of the big tarot names have a book about meanings but they all have a different approach and so if you like an author's work, it's worth looking for their book on meanings. A lot of people have learnt with 78 Degrees of Wisdom. If you want to use reversals in your readings, my essential reference for them is Mary Greer's The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals. Other ideas of popular learning books - 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card by Mary Greer, Tarot: A New Handbook for the Apprentice by Eileen Connolly is a classic book with a lot of Christian perspective you might like, Tarot for Beginners: A Practical Guide to Reading the Cards by Barbara Moore another idea following on from gregory's suggestions.

Many good books have been suggested here (and I own most of them), but I would like to add yet another that really worked well for me. It’s Tarot Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis. And it’s exactly what the title says, page after page of keywords, plain and simple.

Sacred Tarot by c.c. zayin.

It's the most concise I have ever found, for a single book.

I liked Kitchen Table Tarot by Melissa Cynova very much but I'd already read cards many years before so I had a familiarity already. But returning to them after a few years' absence, it was really nice to read a book where a reader really tells the story of the card in a relatable way. Because so many are drawn to more modern cards, I feel book helps bridge a traditional knowledge with the process of actually "reading" cards.

This was the first book I read on Tarot and things clicked in place for me with it. I reference it daily and love it too.

+1 on "Biddytarot's The Ultimate Guide to Tarot Card Meanings" as suggested by @DanielJUK. It looks a little simple in the lay-out but I think it is profoundly written.

I also want to second the 21 Ways To Read a Tarot Card by Mary Greer. I'm only about the 3rd chapter in but can tell already that it's going to be very insightful, and I'm looking forward to sinking my teeth into it.

I would like to ad Nevill Drury's The Tarot Workbook.

for beginners it has short and concise explanations for the RWS imagery, the meanings of the cards and also a self devlopement/ prompting exercise for each card, that brings the feeling of the card meaning to life.

The ones I use most often are Marcia Masino's Easy Tarot Guide, and the companion book to DruidCraft, which is traditional RWS with a Celtic twist and is well written with a nice visual way of presenting keywords.

I also use 78 Degrees of Wisdom (mentioned above) and Robert Place's The Tarot: History, Symbolism, and Divination.

There are a handful of others that I use also but the above are good for general reference.
