ilweran Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 After reading 'Your 'Go to' deck' thread I'm wondering if people have decks they haven't read with but would really like to get round to properly using them. I'd have to say the Dark Goddess and Tarot of the Crone. And, going off-topic on my own thread, but a deck I started using and didn't get very far with is the Dreampower, I do wish I'd just left the uninspiring minors in the box and carried on working with the lovely majors, they were the first cards I felt an intuitive connection with, but it was in the early days of me reading tarot and the thought of dumping most of the deck didn't occur to me 🙄 You live and learn! (I also want to use the Linestrider and the Wild Unknown, but I've barely had them any time at all so I don't feel like they count yet!)
Nordica De Spell Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Oh Gosh, yes!! There’s so many new ones I haven’t had the time to read with only look at, and a few un-opened ones too. I.e I haven’t gone in deep with the Dark Mansion or the Jolanda yet, and I got the Everyday Witch for my recent birthday, and I haven’t even touched the Osho-Zen and the Celtic Shaman’s Pack, though they’ve been in my cabinet for a good while! (But I’d also like to go into deeper study of some I already read with, and to re-visit some that I’ve spent less energy on in the past...) I guess the truth is, even though I can’t afford to bring in more decks right now, it’s probably a message that I should spend time with the ones I’ve got... 🌷
Flaxen Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I’ve got quite a few ‘one day’ decks in my collection. They have a deep system but don’t follow the more familiar Golden Dawn philosophy. Navigators of the Mystic Sea, Mary-el, Haindl, the Matthews’ Arthurian, Pythagorean and Tarot of the Holy Light are just a few I can think of.
Guest Night Shade Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 I would like to use the Paulina Tarot more, because I love its imagery, but when it comes down to reading with it it doesn't quite resonate with me. I'd also like to use the Celestial tarot more, but all the astrology symbolism make it hard to read as well.
Guest Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Oh definitely, decks I'd like to invest more time in... I would have to say The Dreamkeepers Tarot. I was part of the kickstarter and received the deck, fell in love, then put it away. It's a beautiful decks, some of the court cards feel flat, especially the male courts, which is a shame, but I would love to use it more and read the guidebook to really get a feel for the deck. Another deck would be The Medieval Scapini. I love that deck to pieces and would never ever get rid of it but I hardly ever use it. Lastly, I add The English Magic Tarot. It's just been sitting in my tarot drawer since I got it a couple years back. I appreciate the art, the theme, and everything, but I just haven't had the time nor the inclination if I'm honest.
Bookworm Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 The Arthurian is one of mine. It's lovely, but it always seems like so much work! Although I recently reread some of the legends, so I ought to jump on it before I forget. I would also like to dedicate a few months to using my TdMs exclusively. I have only ever dipped in here and there.

It’s so rewarding when you devote time to them. Such a rich reading experience and you’ll soon be converted to non-scenic pips.
McFaire Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Quite a few in my collection. Me too on Dark Goddess, Wild Unknown, Celtic Shaman, Mary-El. Also Celtic Wisdom Tarot comes to mind, Rosetta, Jungian, Golden Dawn, and a dozen others.
HermitWriter Posted May 21, 2019 Posted May 21, 2019 Probably my Minchiate and Lenormand decks. I haven't decided if I should try to read with the Minchiate or use it as a game or study deck. And tarot itself is so deep that I'm dragging my feet on trying to learn another system of cartomancy with the Lenormand. I also fully endorse time spent with Tarots de Marseille! They are definitely my go-to decks.

Thoughtful Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 My Fin de Seicle Lenormand is one that has sat idly for quite a while. l really must get round to studying and reading with it. In fact writing about it here has peaked my interest again. So who knows l may yet bring the lonely little thing out of hibernation.
ilweran Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 Go for it @Thoughtful 😁 Despite having more than enough on my plate at the moment, I may have to revisit the Dreampower, ignore the book (I seem to recall it was very 'you will use the cards THIS way, and THIS way only'), possibly ignore the uninspiring minors and just give it a go!
