White Block Text

This is probably really obvious and I am missing it but I have seen some people do posts and some text is in a white box. Not spoiler posts nor quoting, it is just a white box around the text with the background,

 

I cannot work out how you do that, anyone got any clues?

I don't know if I think about the same as you, but for example, in circle readings, we copy the link to a new thread and paste into the sign-up thread. Just paste the URL (link address) and maybe put a space at the end, then you get such a box.

I think you could be right Kai, I think it's someone pasting from somewhere else, not quoting in full but a box of other text it does white blocking around it. It doesn't seem to be a text entry option but I keep seeing it around the forum posts and was trying to work it out

@gregoryyou need to copy text from another post, a message or elsewhere on the web. Paste it in a post but do not change or edit it and keep it as rich text, then you get the white box. If you edit the text or convert it to plain text it don't happen 🙂

 

It seems to happen a lot when people paste the original post in circles I notice.

I did exactly that. To no effect. Look:

paste it in a new post

(you might need to add one space right after the URL)

AH. I thought this all referred to actual text. What it seems to mean is if you link a thread, you get a sort of image of the first post (or the post you link) - something which I WAS aware of. Like this. Dan's actual post.

 

I thought the idea was that any quoted rich text would show up in a box !

it's about copying and pasting text, not linking.

Text that is copied and pasted from other sites, such as Facebook I suspect, will show with white backgrounds. A dead giveaway.

Oh, now I understand what you mean, @DanielJUK

 

The white background that you see is not visible with the Uniform Theme.

If I switch to Chameleon theme, I see the same as you do.

This is probably a bug in some of the themes I guess.

this makes a lot of sense, I have Chameleon theme and the background of posted posts is not white, it is off white on all colours!
I can see people copying and pasting from other posts here and also from private messages, if they do not edit it or turn it to plain text, you see the border 🙂 I couldn't work out why I kept seeing it and thought people were doing it somehow to show different text, that is why I started the thread originally. It is probably a bug 😂

Actually it offers that in the edit box at the time you paste.
