Greetings, I'm Sophie and I'm from the Southern part of the US. Please don't hold that against me. I've been battling the idiotic idiosyncrasies all my life. Needless to say, I'm used to being "different", an outcast, a loner. I've always played well by myself. I purchased my first deck in the late 80's sometime and hauled those cards around with me for decades even though I couldn't read. It just never clicked with me. I lost track of that deck even though I can still see them in my mind. I think their demise was due to a neurotic roommate but that's ok. That was back in the dark ages before the interwebz and we had to go to the library and suffer the scorn of checking out a real book from the Occult Section. Anyway, I've been inspired to get another deck (or 3) and start my Tarot journey for real. And I'm so looking forward to the insights, challenges and joy that is on this path! So happy I found this forum too.

@JustPeachy, hi! :animated-smileys-waving-065:

You might find we’re many here whom vibe to a different tune than most!

... And, whose first tarot deck once upon the days, wasn’t exactly an informed choice!

I hope you find one or many great new decks that you come to love and that speaks to you personally, (and that you find a kind internet community to be part of, here!)

It’s nice to meet you! 🙂

Thank you! I'm excited to start this new adventure. I feel like the time is right for me now. It only took several decades. 😄 And I've been reading, and reading and read some more. I started doing a daily single card draw first thing in the morning after I meditate and that's been interesting. It seems like at first I don't know what it means then I read the description and go off and think about it through the day and more stuff comes to me. It's been interesting to say the least.

Ha! Yes, that's me about 4yrs (late 60's). This is an old Olan Mills photo that my Dad carried in his wallet until he transitioned in 2000. To answer your other question, I do have my grandmother around me now but we weren't like BFF's before she died in the early 90's.

You know, I just thought about it and my Grandma might be hanging around me here the last few days. I've been sewing a new top and she was an excellent seamstress. I also have 2 of her older sewing machines although I don't use them. And I've been thinking about her when I've been doing detail stuff lately.

I know I'm late to the party, but welcome to the forum @JustPeachy!

I know what you mean about being on a different vibe to others!  I suspect there are as lot of us!

Hello and Welcome!

Your baby picture looks almost exactly like one of my sister's photos of that era, and hers was done at Olan Mills too. That pose! And she had the exact same haircut. So innocent were those days! 🙂
