I'm just learning a bit about the enneagram and not sure how I feel about it.  Multiple tests can't seem to determine whether I am a 5 or a 9 or a 4...i get and even number of answers for each LOL.

anyhow,  found this book (a full chapter is available on her website (http://www.enneagramdimensions.net/tarot.htm) and I found it extremely interesting, notwithstanding my lack of knowledge about the enneagram)  and wondered if any of you had read it?  When I google enneagram and tarot quite a few interesting links show up.

I don't know much about the Ennegram at all, and certainly not in connection with Tarot, but the book you linked to looks very interesting. 🙂

doesn't it though?  I know very little about the enneagram but regardless the chapters you can see through preview on amazon look fascinating,  particularly for those interested in the self development aspect of tarot.

Yes, and the fact that you don't need to understand the Enneagram to use the book might make it a good intro to the Enneagram, possibly. The author has 20+ years experience with it, so she likely knows her stuff.

What drew you to the Enneagram, @Halcyon?

I follow an author on twitter named Hannah Paasch and she has been promoting her new book Millenneagram (sp?) and so I decided to look into it.  That led me down the internet rabbit hole,  and then I wondered whether any authors had explored the interplay between the Enneagram and the tarot and .... Voila.

Anything that helps me understand myself and my role on Earth better is of interest to me.

I first heard about the Enneagram through a podcast but you had to know something about it to understand what the presenters were saying. Then I heard about it through Cynthia Bourgeault (who's involved with Contemplative Christianity) and that piqued my interest because it was unexpected, but the resources she recommended require a lot of study and I prefer to devote that time to Tarot!

So, for me, Enneagram working with Tarot, that's worth another look!

Are you thinking of getting the book, @Halcyon? You could write a review here for the site. 🙂

I don't connect as readily to the enneagram stuff as I do to tarot.  It doesn't click in the same way.  But as a tool for self growth it seems very interesting,  so hopefully weaving tarot into the explanation will entice me!!

Let us know how you get on, especially if you have any insights!

HI there-So, I received The Fool's Excellent Adventure, and would like to do a series of posts about my reaction to it--where would the best place to post that be? Thanks 🙂

I can't help with your question, but I wanted to say that I am really looking forward to your posts, Halcyon!

I've seen similar stuff like this before.

I know some of each, and I can see the connection between them.

All spiritual systems are related in one way or another, and this is very connected to the law of three and all.

Which puts it right into Tarot territory I guess..

The Enneagram structure is excellent for exploring court card aspects.  What's a fun koh-ink-e-dink is that the book Personality Types by Don Richard  Riso is on my desk at this very moment as a reminder.  This work in particular is considered a fine text for initial Enneagram study.  I am going to recommend it as a mentor during the next exchange with my student.  It's a wonderful and beneficial thing to study in general. Tests to determine your personality number are free and readily available online.

From what I've heard the creator of the system channeled the structure in solitude, although I cannot verify that right now.

I'm a type 7 (The Enthusiast) with a strong 8th Wing.

Share yours.
