@Starlight I used to be like that then I went and got myself a whole lot of coloured pens when I started (along with a shed load of different washi tape!) so I end up wanting to use them every time lol assigning specific pens for different things definitely helped. For example majors are always metallic purple, Swords are always copper, coins are always metallic green. Makes it easier if I'm trying to see any patterns, I can just look for the right colour 🙂

My first tarot journal was a bit of a hot mess lol washi tape and stickers and a whole lot of my too-much gene everywhere.

Surprisingly, all it took for that to calm down (aside from me lamenting over all that too-muchness) was getting a black fineliner and doing a page plan in pencil first. Now my too-muchness wants all the doodles and all the fonts all the time but that takes too long and I end up spending way too much time trying to find just the right one for what I want lol

OK, I know I've been afk for far too long but now I have waay too much time up my sleeves so.... I'm baaaack 🙂

Thought I would share where I'm at with my tarot bujo journey.

I fugured out pretty quick that I like things to have some kind of order without too much forward planning. This is what I came up with...

I decided to colour code my index to make it easier to find specific things, like spreads I like or readings.

I wanted to have visual cues for each card so assigned them all symbols and colour code them too. I used Pinterest a lot for this so I wouldn't have to make them all up myself so some cards went through a few different iterations before I was happy with the symbols I was using.

Another thing I wanted to do was at least one full spread a month. Enter my Year of Spreads page. This is a kind of master list of spreads I wanted to do this year. I left room to add other spreads too.

At the start of the month I do a new title page so it's very clear when I looking at a new month's worth of stuff. It's also a great place to add any quotes I really like too. Then comes the daily draws pages. I've discovered (with my first bujo) that I hate having to write something about my daily draws every day, mainly because I forget more than half the time! So I now do a monthly double page thingy to record each card and any repetitions etc that occur during the month.

I wanted to be able to track lunar phases and events throughout the year so that got its own two pages at the start of the journal. The phases I also add to my monthly pages so I can see what cards I'm pulling for each phase.

After that, any new spread I do gets its own spot. I take a note of the date and the deck I use and write any thoughts I have about each card. I'm thinking for some spreads I may need to leave some room so I can go back to them and add more insight after the fact.

I took some pics so you can see what I'm talking about. Bonus: the Vintage Spread at the end is actually one of my own creations 😄

Another little update...

I decided I wanted to be able to look back over a years worth of daily draws to see if there were any patterns and which cards/numbers/suits etc I drew a lot of. Plus I wanted to try out Dutch doors so this seemed like the perfect excuse...

That is such a good idea. You've got the pattern right there in front of you!

I love the dutch door as well. What a beautiful journal you're creating! (Do you ever feel sad when one journal is full and you have to close the cover and move on?)

I'm glad you like it 😁 I actually wondered if anyone else had done something similar but couldn't find anything.

I was so nervous about doing the dutch door! I don't normally voluntarily cut books op and it was going against everything I'd ever been taught lol I glad I did it though.

I did have a spiral bound art book that I was using as a tarot journal that I never finished. I'm really bad at not finishing things like this. But I'm determined to finish this one. That's part of the reason I've set tarot goals for myself this year. The daily draws and monthly spreads are forcing me to put the work in. I have dreams of having books dedicated to spreads or readings or tips or meanings. Not sure if I'll ever get that far though, I'm only a third of the way through one book of everything so far, so we'll see

I love you Tarot bullet journal. It’s so pretty and well organized. I wish I can be like that, but I tend to be chaotic and messy.

I plan to start a Tarot journal soon, but I can tell right off the bat that it will lean more into artistic/cartoony style. I tend to do comic strips and so far I have an idea of putting Tarot and comic strips together. But it just a thought process since I have so many ideas. I just need to pick a deck I want to work with. Thank goodness I already bought a blank journal.

My first tarot journal was all over the place and in no way organised lol. This second one is a little better but I'm still figuring out how I want to use them so things are still relatively disorganised. My next one will be a bit better because I now have a small list of things I want to have at the front of the book (like the Year at a Glance pages).

I'm sure I will eventually end up with a handful going at once. Like one for spreads, one for readings, one for daily draws, one for card meanings... I'm not there yet though. I'm sure if I really wanted to I could have a book for each card or at least each suit, but I'm not really sure I want to lol.

Tarot comic strip sounds like such an awesome idea. I'd love to see some if you do any!

I had tried keep a tarot journal before, but I never finished it. I gave up and hand no idea what I did with the book. The only book I did kept was my 3 ring binder that had notes of one of my previous deck. It’s on top of my bookshelf 😆

I love drawing comic strip and if I do end up going with the idea, I’ll post it here 😀

@TheFeeLion I like the way you set up your spread in your journal! I started bullet journaling a couple of months ago and a couple of weeks ago started recording my weekly readings in there. I have a separate Tarot Journal, but I draw in a sort of analog version of the cards into my BuJo. I geeked out a little when I saw a post about bullet journaling 😄

Just realised I forgot to reply 😱

I'd love to see pics if you end up doing this! 😁

@TheFeelLion

Well my Journal journal isn't very visually interesting but I do some journaling about my past week and where I'm at at that moment and if I think of something specific to do a reading about. Then I write the name of the deck I'm using and draw 3 little boxes (more if I end up drawing more cards) and label which cards I drew. I use the space around the cards to write down observations about the relative visuals on the cards. Then I journal some more.

I've put my readings from the above process in my BuJo 3 times, and they've all looked a little different as I learn but here's the latest:

bulletjournaltarot.jpg.b3dfd8938d9a127d2d66c6a54e58ffa2.jpg

The top is the number, then a color for the suit, then the title of the card where applicable and then if it was reversed, and maybe if I ignored that it was reversed. After that is an explanation of what's on the card, and the lower (empty in this photo) part is for a sum-up blurb of what its telling me. I had a hard time with this step on that one. I took a guess and filled it in and then immediately regretted it and ended up making a note to that effect.
