I think Katrinka will have a migraine that I mention this, but I find the The Legendary Lenormand by Carrie Paris nice; well nice isn't the right word here because it has something creepy, but I don't dislike it (of course a derivative deck I'm afraid)....

Maybe it's because of the bat on the back of the cards which gives a particular vibe or atmosphere. I don't have it but thought about this Lenormand this morning.

I HAVE the Legendary.

It gets a pass because it's intentionally crazy. It doesn't pretend to be correct!

🙂 Ha ha yes I knew that because you said it in another thread in the past. With its particular touch I find it nice, really.

I just got the Green Glyphs Lenormand this pas week and I must say, it's an amazing deck!  The cardstock is nice and thick and it feels good in the hands.  I'm excited to learn Lenormand with it.

I took a glance at this deck and it looks interesting, the images are modern and get to the point, which is fine with Lenormand.

I saw casually a very nice Lenormand deck which looks really appealing. I hope it isn't a derivative deck though; actually it's something I don't know because I only looked at a few cards online: the Alexander Daniloff Lenormand. At first sight I find the art lovely!

Someone bought it? I think it is new (and it seems a limited edition too).

EDIT  here we can see a lot of cards (but not all): http://www.daniloff-art.it/Tarocchi gallery/Lenormand Oracle.htm

I've come across the name Daniloff before. Apparently he's got some Tarots, too.
That Lenormand is very nice! It's jazzy, I like it. Maybe a little busy for GT's, but it looks like a fun deck to use for smaller spreads! And I had a look at the PDF, the information is good.
It's not a good beginner deck, since some of the images are misleading (that Fish card for one, lol.) But for you, Decan, nothing is forbidden. 🤣 Let us know how the stock is!

Well, I appreciate a nice Lenormand deck when I see one around, but I'm not ready for another Lenormand presently to be honest, because I already have several decks that I love but don't use often!

And my purse! Oh boy, I need to be wiser, and actually I even plan to do some prayers at the very end of the year to become a kind of miser for 2020... unless I can't resist, it's always possible I'm afraid! 🥴

It's too bad they don't show the Fox card, this card works often on me (I noticed that before) like a diabolical temptation somehow! 😺

I need to tighten up, too. Plenty of decks and no nest egg. Or rather, the decks ARE the nest egg..
We need to be more like this guy:

For the Daniloff Lenormand, well, I saw a few more cards and the ship seems important in this deck because we find it in several cards, like the Fish, the Anchor, and in the Stars card too. There are not one Key depicted on the Key card but 3, which is an interesting variation I guess.

In front of the house on the House card there is as well a nice park, interesting variation too. I wouldn't have added a chicken (and a cage) in the Birds card though, but it's just my view here.

For the art, what I liked is probably because it reminds me illustrations for child books. But yes, "jazzy".

OK, now it's starting to sound nonfunctional. 🤨

hi guys! @Decan and @katrinka, you were discussing "derivative" lenormand decks and can i just ask the dumbest question which is: derivative of what? a lot of the popular lenormand decks seem to me to be very similar to one another so i'm curious about what criteria would make a lenormand deck derivative!

Well you know the "canon" like the Tables of the Law of Moses lol 😁

No, more seriously, the rider is male and not a female figure, the Tower isn't Big Ben or the Eiffel Tower (at times we find that), and so on...

Creativity is fine, but...

Just my opinion though!

I went back and re-read...Decan used the term "derivative" when he was talking about the Legendary. I think what he meant was that it was derived from Lenormand, but it's not a proper Lenormand.

It's silly, and it's intended to be. I reviewed it here https://fennario.wordpress.com/2016/05/10/the-legendary-lenormand/

I wouldn't recommend it as a beginner deck, for that you'd want a proper one.
As a rule, I would define "proper Lenormand" as a standard, uncrowded one that has no need of titles on the cards. It shouldn't be "innovated" or any of that. Like Decan said, the Rider should be a man on a horse moving along at a fast clip. Not a woman, since it can be a young man or rival male. Not a bicycle or a car or any of that, as it can stand for large animals, knees and feet. See how that works? The best decks don't contradict the method. And Lenormand IS a method rather than a deck.

I just got the Maybe Lenormand and LOVE love love the artwork. They do have more cards but I took them out for now. I love how the Lenny's are so direct.

My favorite Lenormand is a deck I don't have (but I will):

I LOVE the artwork and it looks like it's easily readable.

The second one that I found just now as I read this thread is the Danilloff. His tarot deck is my favorite (I realize it's not everyone's piece of cake - but mine is!)

Concerning the artwork appreciation with regard to Lenormand decks there will be always differences, and it's natural! 🙂

Since your are not a beginner (I think) you can allow yourself this or that deck that you find attractive. Actually even a beginner can do it but it will be more difficult to learn the method maybe (of course according to a traditional perspective); I know now it's possible to approach Lenormand according to a free perspective somehow.

Concerning Tarot I'm more in a free perspective I think.

And we can always test this or that approach too! The results with readings is finally what is the most important!

Decan, for the most part we're on the same page, but what you're saying here confuses the F*** out of me.
A good, functional Lenormand is like this:
The Paths branch off into a fat one and a skinny one.
The Coffin has a drape pointing left.
Ideally (and this is not always the case) the male cards face right.
The Rider, however, as a rival, faces left.

Lol yes, and you are an expert Katrinka!! 🙂
Actually I absolutely agree with you, but presently I'm also aware about practices with Lenormand, so I keep my mind open even if for myself I stick with the Tables of Laws of Moses somehow.
It's not that I agree with everything either, it's just that there are already many practices, therefore it could be more (from me, not an expert) about to be like the Buddha and to choose the middle path to don't hurt or discourage people who can be interested in Lenormand.

For example there are things which shock me, like to use reversals with Lenormand, but I can't insist on that too much to don't upset people, since I don't consider that I have the ultimate truth too.
My previous comment is more about that, not exactly what I consider right (for myself).

I love the Dreaming Way Lenormand deck as well as their tarot deck.  Whimsical and brightly colored.  I also use Sawyer's Lenormand deck.  It is one done by an artist that has representations from her own life.  Like the rider is a guy on a motorcycle because her husband rides one.  The dog is their dog, etc.  Colorful and fun deck.
