Illuminated Earth Oracle for me, thanks vg!

Thanks for hosting @VGimlet! I will use Dark Mansion tarot and CBD TdM.

Can't wait so I start a couple of hours too early. I read somewhere about doing a line spread on 5 or 7 cards without having any question in mind. I've never tried that before.

Shuffling the decks
Dark Mansion Tarot is a little hard to shuffle, a little too thick. And the matt finnish make them hard to put out in a fan shape or equal. The CBD TdM shuffles soo easily.

I will not write down here about my exact interpretation but interestly, some cards repeated themself in the second spread (TdM).

I got sort of confused (especially looking at the pip cards in the TdM, I got ZERO associations, I need to work on this) so I draw a clarification card from Dark Mansion and got STRENGTH card (again).

I looked at the cards and then looked up the keywoords in Wen's book and wrote them down. Then I wrote the meanings from the TdM LWB down. Btw, that LWB is neat, much more neat than LWBs usually are (well written, good structure, font that is not hard to read, a friendly tone). The meanings don't differ really but they are a bit more "clever" imo. For example 3swords: LWB (of CBD TdM) says e.g. "Victory. Overcoming a weak opposition" while in Wen, it says "Strife, loss, heartbreak". I think overcoming a weak opposition gives a much more meaning to that card. Of course there might be much more text about that card in Wens book, I'll look further into that.
I will spend the next couple of days to just sometimes contemplate on this spread. Strength is something important here so I will study that virtue. And the whole family (court cards) of Pentacles must mean something.

Oh and btw, the Dark Mansion Tarot doesn't come with a LWB.

Back to work on Monday, wanted to spend much time on the Tarot this summer. This forum is great. I hope to keep it up...

I will be here - again with the Stone Tarot.

This week's project: wrapping my head around the 5th suit called Sna'tha.

It is definitely strange, to read with a deck and then come across a card from a whole suit, that I know nothing about😲

Wow, just noticed 3 of swords in the spread came at the same position (second from right) in each row (=deck). How did I NOT see that from the beginning?? Interesting..

Since I used the "Raident Wise Tarot"  aka RWS deck last week, it is quite fitting this week I'm using the Millennium Thoth Tarot.   💚

I am very happy working with these decks. I started with Tarot when I was 13-14 ys old and could only afford the cheapest deck then which was Crowleys Thooth. A couple of years later I couöd afford the Mythic Tarot which sort of killed my interest. Last year I took up the interest again an bought some decks that weren't too simple read either. I have spent last 4 weeks on reading a lot on Tarot and it sort of pays off. The Dark M tarot is so easy to read. I finally admitt that RWS type of system is good for beginners. I enjoy the process of preparing to do a spread. Collecting energy and focusing until it's time to do it.

Today I chose to do a "Hegel" spread; thesis-antithesis-synthesis. I read that 3-cards spreads are a nod to Hegel so why not use his terminology explicitly and name it after him?

Second row is the same spread repeated. I don't see that row as a clarification but more as a anchor (I use the CBD TdM because is the afore generation deck system compared to RWS) to the modern RWS Dark Mansion Tarot.

I find this spread very meningful to me. At the second row: king of coin....is equipped by 3swords and transforms to king of sword. Amazing how well this set up work for me.

Oh, I have to add that the CBD TdM cards are so nice to shuffle and hold. Their width is perfect for my hands, and I have normal-large hand size.

I'm very excited about the quality of the new U.S. Games printing of the Tarot Grand Luxe. So much so, that I posted this review on Amazon...

Tarot Grand Luxe is my favorite Ciro Marchetti deck, and I am overjoyed to report that U.S. Games has produced a genuine tribute to the out-of-print original limited edition. This is a gorgeous mass-market publication -- almost a twin to its self-published sibling.

The thing I’ve loved best about reading with the Tarot Grand Luxe is the way the cards interact -- symbols meet one another across cards to create wonderful aha moments. I began discovering these symbolic connections by turning over pairs. My process is to go through the deck fairly quickly, not stopping to meditate. I just take a good look at each pair, reshuffle and start over — the stories reveal themselves.

At times, I've also found that the colors and patterns in Ciro Marchetti’s artwork suggest something surprising — an answer or message originating outside the traditional parameters of the card’s meaning. And while this observation could be applied to most tarot decks, I’ve found that the Tarot Grand Luxe is especially rich and evocative compared to many other decks in my collection.

U.S. Games packaged the Tarot Grand Luxe with a LWB in a beautiful sturdy 2-piece box. Happily, the lid features those crescent cutouts that make it nice and easy to remove the lid.

The magnificent King of Swords adorns the cover of the 56-page LWB. And in it, Ciro Marchetti writes about his use of symbols and shares his thoughts on the meanings of the cards. A black and white thumbnail image of the card appears with each description.

The cards are not only gorgeous to look at, the deck is  wonderful to hold. The stack is thick (I measured 1.3 inches). The card stock is heavy, not flimsy. The surface is a smooth silky matte finish — slick, but not overly so. The cards slide easily against one another. I’ve riffled them, and I’ve mixed them. Perfect.

The deck contains 78 cards, no title or ad card. The card dimensions are 3x5 inches, which is large enough to allow for appreciation of the lush artwork and yet a manageable size for shuffling. The colors are treasure chest of jewel tones. The images are true and sharp.

My takeaway: U.S. Games is offering a fabulous, high-quality, standard Tarot Grand Luxe for about 30% of the cost of the limited edition.

squee and katie, thank you for sharing your cards.

Squee, I'm distracted by the CM flying out the tower window. Does he sign all his cards like this?

I've been making an effort to leave reviews on Amazon this year. One year I made it my 'thing'...and did three ... pitiful.

Katie, that is one strength lady with attitude 🙂

I have to honestly say, I am disappointed.

I did have a busy week and did my daily readings with the Stone Tarot deck. OK< I love the images -  and can always use my intuition to derive at a meaningful reading,

BUT: I wanted to learn and USE the new, different Tarot System, that A.E. Stone developed, which differs greatly from anything I have seen in Tarot so far.

therefore I have to learn and get used to HER meanings of the cards = written in the LWB and on her web site.

And - honestly, that is always ending up in a depressing / oppressive reading.

I am not one for fluffy / all wonderful card interpretations in the so called "gentle decks" but the "verdicts" I got following this new system and its card interpretations was downright depressing.

And more often than not, the meaning had NOTHING to do with the Animal image on the card.

so this morning I was in the BEST of Spirits and for my morning reading - drew the 3 Snake cards the deck offers.

NOT good

Gluttony and oppression,  Attonement and paying the price for it, and ignorance and disappointment = break your attachment to a cold situation.....

So, there you have heard it.....:(

Now what??

The best thing I can do is crawl back to bed and hide......

Hey @AJ-ish/Sharyn :bubble_blovekiss:

Three reviews is great!! It just takes me way too long to write and edit, write and edit to even think about doing another one anytime soon. It's quite a chore.

Yes, the CM appears on all of the cards. I made peace with Ciro's monogram years ago. In my mind, it's part of the artwork. Now, I enjoy finding it in new images in a new deck. However, it must recede and blend when I'm reading, because I don't see it. In fact, when I read your observation that CM was flying out of the Tower, I thought, no way, and scrolled up to look. Yep, there it is, flying out the window as if it were a puff of smoke. It took me a long time to re-locate it in the 4 of Coins, however.

My favorite King and Cups...

Oh, I just love to show my CM deck Fin de Siècle to my kids and let them try to find his signature hidden in the picture.

So, Friday today. I have though about the spread in the book the Stockholm Octavo. I like the part of it that is the idea that you make a spread and every card represents a person who is going to show up. I made a 7 card spread 7 days ago. I don't want to get into details but wow the spread is exactly this week. Situations where Strength was needed showed up as ever before at my work. Very interesting. Many people I've met this week are represented by the cards.

And I loove to combine those 2 decks. They are so different but also alike.

@Mi-Shell I am so sorry your Stone Tarot deck is making you feel like crawling back in bed and hiding! I've been there, and I think you were right in the first place -- use your intuition, respond to the artwork in your own way, forget about the rules, or even make your own rules.

That is very true, Madam Squee! ♥

It is just, that I bought this deck in order to learn and test this/ her new system.

That I am wasting my time came out in 3 different readings.

Now, I can use this one as pretty Animal Oracle, which I most likely will not.... 😞
