Howdy! I found this forum back in January and I was very excited to become involved. I got into Tarot when I was 13 and studied for a few years before getting pulled to the more... physical aspects of our lives' journey you could say 😄

But upon finding this forum I knew I was being called back to the cards. I just haven't had a deck in years so I was not able to offer much substance to the conversations here. Last month I was able to acquire a deck that really spoke to me from a vendor at a pagan festival known to me as my second home and since then I have been reading and studying with a newly instilled passion! I love these cards and I love my deck! I've found it a little strange how attached I've grown to them (and other objects of my magic, but these cards especially), every time I pick them up just to shuffle I feel such love just bundle me up and shoot me out like a rocket! I'm definitely channeling some Prince of Wands energy into it all as of late haha

I now feel that I've gotten back a solid grasp on the basics of the cards and so I came back to this forum in excitement to jump into the community! I've read over threads and forums here and everyone seems very nice. I am still a little nervous about posting since my technique with the cards might feel loose to some? But it seems like everyone here is very open and fluid with others' different approaches so I know my anxieties only come from an internal place!

Anyway, I just can't wait to talk more with everyone! I'm so happy this forum is around!

(PS. Would it be possible for an admin to change my name to "zedekiel"? I'm not sure i can do it myself, so if there's a specific place on this forum im supposed to go to do it i'd love the inside scoop! Thanks so much!)

Welcome! I look forward to getting to know you better! And yes, this is a very diverse and accepting place. So many different people and different approaches, and that’s part of the beauty. You will surely feel right at home!

Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you around! We have all learnt in different ways and have different paths that led us to tarot so it makes sense that we all have our own way of using them.  And the cards are just that - a tool to help us access our intuition and three knowledge within us.  Tools can be used in so many different ways - one of the simplest tools is a stick. I could use it to dig food out the ground, I could use it to spin yarn, someone else might use it as a tent peg while someone else might just throw it for their dog!  So try not to worry about how you read, everyone here reads differently, just dive straight in!

Hello! Great to have you here. I was also into it at age 13 but "physical" aspects of life has been in focus for many years until last year. This forum is great!

I think the stick analogy is a beautiful one! Thank you for sharing it, because it makes perfect sense when you lay it out like that ☺️

Hi! It's very nice to know this is a commonality in some. Bless our teenage selves for being curious enough to leap into all kinds of practices, even if we had to set them down for a bit.

Looking forward to seeing you around the forum.

Hi! Yes, my deck is the Transformational Tarot by Arnell Ando! The 2005 edition, which I believe is out of print now. The merchant I bought it from had bins and bins of decks and on one rainy day at the festival I spent about 2 hours in his tent going through them (and his book collection too). I came across this deck and two others that spoke to me, the other two had more traditional designs, although the art style was still quite original and beautiful. The other two also were in mint condition, while the Transformational deck he had was in a box that was pretty worse for ware. The cards were pristine though, and the box unopened (although it looked like after a few more festival runs it might fall apart at the seams aha). When I finally sat down to make my choice of the three, it didn't take me long. I think I was only humouring myself with the other two when I picked them out. I really liked their art, but there was no other deck in the whole bunch that felt the same as the Transformational one to me, so even with the wear and tear of its box I bought it anyway.

I almost wanted to haggle the vendor on the price ($23) because of the condition of the box (and later back in my own tent I thought maybe I should have because the cards were a bit sticky with years out in humid climate, it was nothing some solid shuffling and time spent in dry conditions didn't fix though), but it didn't feel quite right since the deck felt perfect to me, ruined box and all, and I wasn't about to play miser with perfection. I'm happy I didn't try that with him now though because after some research I realized that this deck is out of print (this edition at least) and some people are selling copies of it from 50 to almost 300 dollars! That's an unbelievable price anyway, since I think there's probably some spots online still selling for the original price, but I was still happy I didn't try to bug a man a few dollars short of what some are selling for a tiny fortune, and most in what sounds like a similar condition to mine anyway.

I also saw later that a lot of reviews said this deck was better for those more experienced in tarot, since the art was so non-traditional. I'm a bit shy of beginner in tarot, but advanced in a lot of mythos studies that relate to it so this deck has been about as challenging to learn as a general RWT would be to a complete newbie I think. The learning process has definitely been a huge source of fun for me this past month!

Hi!

I can't wait to find my first deck.  I'm new to actively being in this kind of atmosphere and experience but I'm excited.  I feel like tarot will have a major role in centering my gifts. Your story is so cool.  Every post I read gets me more excited.

Hi! I'm excited that you've joined! If you already feel a connection to tarot like that then you'll surely have a wonderful time once youve acquired a deck! I waited 7 months to get one since I knew that the festival i was going to (the one i did eventually buy my deck from) would be the best spot spirituality for me to acquire any magic items. So wait as long or as little as you'd like to set your choice of deck in stone, but people also have deck collections so your first deck definitely doesn't have to be your last. I'm excited to see where our journey in tarot takes us!

I'll definitely be waiting to get my own deck.  I want to start learning about the deck to help me understand the energy I receive from it. I'm so very excited!
