Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Do you know any good resources for finding images for entire decks? Now that I no longer have a scanner, this would be so helpful. Tarot.com does have some complete decks reproduced. I can find some individual card images on Pinterest.com or by Google searches. Thank you.
Raggydoll Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 The reason why you will struggle to find such resources is because it violates the copyright. It’s also customary to only show a limited number of cards for review purposes. Pirated decks is a big industry and no one wants to make their work any easier.
KaiNO Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) Quite a few here. Edited September 28, 2019 by KaiNO I removed the link for copyright reasons.
Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 I totally respect copyright. People who work so hard to create decks deserve to be compensated. I didn't know that pirated decks is a big industry. How sad. I always get permission from the deck creator/author or publisher before I post anything for an article or on my blog or in my newsletter. I don't think that this is necessary, though for one on one readings for a client, do you? I like to get the best quality image and always credit the deck creator.
Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Much Thanks for that information, KaiNO. Yes there are many decks here. I did find one that I have been looking for. Thanks.
gregory Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Albideuter is the only site I know of where all decks have the permission of the publisher/artist. You can use any of those - and also Lo Scarabeo has said several times that they are OK with anyone using any old scans - but I think Solandia was wise not to allow links to such sites on AT at all. I think Little Fang would be very wise to do likewise. The risk of the forum being done for copyright is too great.
reall Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) I have my fav it's great resource for Tarot & Oracle!:D as i'm picky libra & like to see All cards!^^ & imo it don't break any copyright/represent *copyright break if img are so small resolution it cant be printed?x,x +this all have watermark as far as I know?x,x Eta; find better link with few decks recently will pm as these are better quality!;) Edited September 28, 2019 by reall
Guest libra Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) I use a scanner app to get the images onto my phone. I don't do this with all of them, but the ones that I use regularly for readings, I do! Or just the cards that come up as they do lol. It turns out we'll enough imo, like this was a card I used in a reading fairly recently. (the wooshyness of our is in the card image itself, lol. Maybe not the best example image!) Which only allows up to 10% for review and education purposes. More to the point, I don't want to see Little Fang in trouble for allowing links to these places. Edited September 29, 2019 by Raggydoll Removed Realls link that showed up in the quote
reall Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 ok, agree with your point! I forgot it's book rule you can *preview only 10%?x,x facepalm then hopefully will get this topic disappear soon?;D

Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Thank you libra for the advice re. using a scanner app. Do I need a tripod to get a good quality image? When using a camera, I just cannot get a perfect image. Much Thanks, NMG

So I start the image on one corner, and move my camera over the whole thing, corner to corner, and it gets a clear scan with no glare, even in bad indoor light conditions.
Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Neat! I'm game to try this. I have an iPhone. Which scanner app are you using?

katrinka Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 A scanner app? For Android? WOOT! Generally, while laws regarding Fair Use vary from one country to the next, I don't worry about any of this. For instance, I put this on my blog recently, and yes, it's very old Public Domain images, but I would - and have - done the same with new decks. I just happened to have this handy on my hard drive: Nobody could reproduce that deck - or even those nine cards - in marketable form from that photo. And that's just it - if somebody can download your images and make a deck to sell, you might be on thin ice. Otherwise, post away.

I don't WORRY about it (lord knows I use all those sites myself, and I share links to them - but privately.) The risk I see here is posting links to them on a forum. There are publishers who mind very much. Getting a note "take down my image" sent to you, Katrinka, is one thing - you'd (presumably) comply. But where a forum owner is effectively promoting them by allowing links is something else. Solandia's a smart cookie; she didn't allow it for that reason. The dragon place I'm on had had the same kind of issue with people posting Pokemon images; the Pokemon people took a very dim view, and all the artists there had to redo the whole place under threat of it being closed down.
Natural Mystic Guide Posted September 29, 2019 Author Posted September 29, 2019 Great discussion. Thanks everybody. I am looking for high quality perfect images. I never share a whole deck (just would love access to the scanned images of one.) I just send these to clients and friends. I like a perfect image that fills the screen so that someone can then zoom in on details of a card and clearly see everything. It adds a great dimension to long distance readings. Most of my work is long distance. I agree that we want to protect this lovely site from any problems -- I have such a honest and beautiful mind that my mind just never goes to the bad place of how people could abuse these images by violating copyright laws ... This has been very informative. I have an iPhone, so I am guessing that i will need an iPhone scanner app. I'm sure that they are out there -- and experiment and see if I need a tripod or not. I live in a tropical island paradise with so many plusses. One of them is not access to good shopping, even online. 🌺💜🌺
Raggydoll Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Just to make it clear: TT&M does not allow or condone the linking to pages that breach copyright. Such links will be removed. If we ever miss one link (it happens, we can’t catch everything) then please just report it to us and we will fix it. @gregory is right, we care a lot about the rights of artists and creators. Thanks everyone for understanding this!

No worries from this quarter. I've sent out MANY DMCA's, copyright theft is a peeve of mine. I have a serious axe to grind. It's not that my online content is particularly profound, it's that people will steal LITERALLY ANY CRAP YOU POST. My old Keen ad blurb showed up on some woman's blog. She'd discovered Lenormand exactly two months before, and didn't know it well enough to write her own ad copy. Yet she was reading "professionally" and selling readings using MY text. I posted the DMCA right there in her blog comments. B*tch. My Kipper meanings are still floating around on Scribd, as are other assorted dumb things, complete with the contents of my blog sidebar from years ago. Scribd is a horrible place that should have died long ago, one of the main offenders. And that's just text. I can't imagine images. The pirating must be OFF THE HOOK. I wish you did fartbook, gregs. You'd be an extremely valuable member here https://www.facebook.com/groups/pagansagainstplagiarism/
gregory Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 (edited) Fartbook is a big part of the PROBLEM. A nasty place that (what was it a mate of mine said when she signed up and then quit) "exposes the vile underbelly of people she thought she knew." I have actually been flamed there by name by someone I thought I knew, and totally falsely. And I'm not even there to see it so I didn't quite get the point - I'd never have known had it not been send to me as a "courtesy" by someone who felt these things should not be said of a woman and a grandmother... I'm also not sure I technically qualify as a pagan ! Edited September 29, 2019 by gregory
katrinka Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I'm decidedly not a pagan, either. The group is a kind of clearinghouse for reporting copyright infringement of anything cartomancy and/or occult related. It's just misnamed - a lot like the way Tarot is assumed to be "Wiccan", so bags and spreadcloths are always plastered with pentagrams and triple moons. And yes, facebook is flame central. Not so much the card reading, pet, etc. groups, but the political discussion is not for the faint of heart!
gregory Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Well - closed group, and I will never be there, so... If I see something I'll give it to you to deal with !
