Birchwind Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 I am a 40 something year old mother from SW Canada. I got my first tarot deck in 2004. The Gilded Tarot. I was interested in it for a bit but felt overwhelmed by the various meanings and interpretations. I have picked it up off and on over the years, more as a self meditation tool and admiration for the invoking imagery than for reading for anyone else. I always feel like I'm looking for THE deck that I will be able to read with. I'll find a deck then something throws me off - some sort of OCD with associations etc. Though over the years the foundational meanings sort of naturally come now I need to learn how to be more intuitive. I have literally sat with a celtic cross spread open for more than 24 hours because i know the story can mean something entirely different and I can't make up my mind which way it goes. (I was the absolute worst with those 'choose your own path' books back in the day too lol) Anyhow regardless of my stumbling blocks with it I absolutely love Tarot. I love touching, looking, admiring, working with them. My 14th deck Tarot of Trees should be here any day 🙂 I have been a fan of Aeclectic Tarot for years and have poured over so many threads. I was sad that registration was closed (but as a past forum owner I understand) and was happy to find Tarot, Tea and Me ❤️
stephanelli Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Welcome to the forum @Birchwind! There's lots of interesting things going on around here so I hope you get stuck in!
Birchwind Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 🙂 Thank you! I love the look of the site even at first glance. The colours, the font - hah, visually appealing. And then once I started looking through the conversations I decided I just had to join. I have stopped using Facebook and really miss forums - which to me were a far superior way of conversing and connecting.
gregory Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 How lovely to see someone else who realises that forums are far better for discussion than social media. VERY big welcome from an Eastern Ontarian who lives also in the UK. It's complicated ! I don't recommend it.

Thank you for the welcome and yes - I miss places where people converse, talk and connect and don't just reactively post to argue. I know this can happen in forums also, I ran one for about 8 years -- but the quality of conversation, the pace ... much more my style. Edited November 1, 2019 by Birchwind lazy fingers
