I read or heard that the Devil's Mirror isn't very popular in Russia, and depending on the region a few variations are possible.

I tried it as an exercise and I found this difficult; but I also got the vibe that with a constant practice it could give good results.

The Russian Classic is popular, even if there are likely regional variations too. For me a bit easier, but you need the context with these cards, if someone wants a quick answer and doesn't want to speak about his/her context, I'm afraid you can go further.

I HAVE been working on it, @Decan. I have my official cards from Russia 😄 as well as many notes on meanings taken from Dan's YouTube videos. Last night, I watch Dan's Devil Mirror video (stopping/starting the video and sketching/jotting down notes in my spiral) and believe I am ready to try it out when I get some time. I had one question on Knaves/King combination to which I commented on Dan's channel and he responded right away--amazing man/teacher that he is!

As a constructive remark regarding this method, I find the meanings for the cards a bit skinny, this can be challenging at times to adapt the meanings depending on a particular situation. And it's cartomancy here, it's not about "to feel", but more about to create connections between the cards and deduce this or that; it's not that easy.
Otherwise the spreads are generally large, involving a lot of cards.

At the very end of the year I plan to do a Russian Classical Spread for 2021.

Since this is a large multi-steps spread just once a year will be enough 🙂, and otherwise it is something traditional to do it for the year to come between Christmas and the new year if I remember things properly.

Actually I will probably need to think about this spread during an entire week!!

 

But I won't do their Devil Mirror Spread, I tried once but this made me near crazy, so it's safer if I avoid that 😄

Just to let you know that I found out recently that Dmitry Korolev removed all his videos from his YouTube page, well...fortunately, I took notes from the videos available in the past; nothing is eternal with the internet, so the morality of the story is to take notes!

Yes, it's what I also suspected.

Too bad because the videos on YouTube were good but made some years ago too (I don't remember when but he was younger, now his attitude changed, what surprised me a bit).
