Audelia Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Hi all, It's been a while since I was around these parts and I'm checking in today with a topic fitting for the new year: What's your personal card for 2020? How do you calculate it? I take the day and month of birth and add it to the current year. So 4/9/2020 (following a DD/MM/YY format) becomes: 4+9+2+0+2+0=17 (The Star) which can be further broken down to 1+7=8 (Strength). I'm interested to see what your card for the year is and how you feel it's likely to interact with the energy of The Emperor, who is governing 2020. For the record, I'm currently experiencing my first Temperance year EVER! Which is sort of exciting 🙂 So, let's chat!
Jewel Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 My 2020 is the year of the Hanged Man, hoping for a year of introspection resulting in positive change/transformation. It will suck if it ends up being all about sacrifice! 😆 As to its interaction with Emperor ... that could be really tricky as it is introspective so do not need anyone else trying to guide me or put me on the road they feel is right for me, so I see some discernment on my part which goes back to being an objective observer to know my motivations for change.

Endy Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 My card for 2020 is 16... The Tower. All I have to say is that I am not actually surprised! This year has already been one of upheaval, but not actually in a sudden way (more like something was building up over the last few months and finally came to an end). The year is still young, though! A lot can happen. I hope that I will be experiencing more of the break-through and revelation aspect of The Tower rather than the chaos and destruction...

You do seem to have the right attitude so that will make it a more productive and less chaotic year for you already
xTheHermitx Posted January 25, 2020 Posted January 25, 2020 (edited) my numbers are 6+9+2+0+2+0 = 19 (The Sun), and broken further down to 10 (Wheel Of Fortune) and even further to 1 (The Magician) just found out that mine is the Magician...who is trying to decipher the Wheel of Fortune in the light of The Sun... I definitely feel like right now, I am that guy, who has all of the tools on the table, and the desire to get some big things done, but am not sure of the plan yet - beginning of the year for sure. I am at the beginning of (The Fools) journey for this year, and having turned 50 last year, I am at the beginning of this pretty big decade of change. I am not too scared of making big changes - I figure i have been through some pretty big lows and highs in the past 50 years, so I am actually sort of interested in what challenges the Wheel is going to give me, and how I will spin those threads into a result. I am not too scared...possibly the influence of the Sun here, and almost always have bbeen able to make positives out of all situations... I am planning on making some changes to how I do things at work; our youngest is leaving for college, so my wife and I are talking about finding our final home...(I HATE moving, and want the next one to be the last). Our middle kid is graduating college, and will hopefully be getting into the first steps in her career path. I am sort of hoping that one of my bands gets some bigger gigs, and that we continue a plan that we have made to have some magic happen as far as gaining popularity. Alright I'm 7/21/2020 So mine came out to 32, I don't think one can determine a 32nd card in the tarot cause we'd be in the minors by that point, but if we break it down to 5 that's the heirophant! If it was the upside down heirophant that would make sense to me cause I'd be like "Yeah! The year I let go of all my religious brainwashing alright!!!" But... I can't just interpret it in reverse can I? lol Maybe it means this is the year I will find structure and purpose... Well now that I think about it it could also mean this is the year I find my spiritual community or find a group to belong to.... Not sure how to interpret that, anybody wanna chime in?

But because I'm feeling very pessimistic those months and all the current things happening in the world (fires, virus...), I'm kind of afraid this time lol.

The very fact that you've been feeling so pessimistic and worried makes this card even more fitting. It's like it's giving you the explanation as to WHY things have been so scary, and letting you know it will be ending soon 😄😄😄

I remember the feeling my last semester (after a 30 year journey) and knowing that that milestone was no longer a distant image in my mind. In fact, just thinking of it now gave me a shiver in a good way.... just remember to dot all the i's and cross the t's in the last few months on the logistical side!! I think I did 3 degree audits the last 2 months to make sure that everything was turned in etc...

I looked up the meaning of this card in "78 Degrees of Wisdom" which is the Tarot book I'm currently reading, and it was pretty eye opening. She says that while the surface meaning of this card has traditionally meant structure and religion in a kind of... organized way, the esoteric or occult view of the card as was seen by people like Alister Crowley or the Order of the Golden Dawn, was that it represented initiation into the mystery teachings. And that is both cool and fitting, and also very exciting, cause like... that's the trip I've been on, dismantling the BS and then trying to find my particular esoteric path or... path to discovering the great mysteries so.... yeah... if THAT'S what it means... Maybe I'm on my way....

But as you get older...more wise...you start the path of learning about the secrets that the Hierophant is holding/protecting...that is scary both to you as the new learner because you are gaining independence, and it is scary to The Establishment for the same reason. You are starting the journey of your own establishment in a way...

I recently self-dedicated myself to my new spiritual path which has taken me 13 years to find... and last year was a Death year for me so it’s all been rather fitting. In the year of the Emperor I see this as being about me taking back control of my life fully and deciding for myself what my values are and how I will live. Good luck to us both!! 🙂

Well, so much has been spinning and changing in my life of the past year, at least I can rely on that unreliability? But its aleast a momentum I've felt positive about coming into this year. The Magician... Maybe that's who I should aspire to be in this whirlwind year. I have started down this tarot path... I think I like my combo. 🙂
