Yes, the number 3 jumped out at me, reaching for my throat --and I swerved to the right, just missing certain death!

Seriously, though, the Three of Wands (good!) = 3, the World (even better!) is 21, broken down 2+1 = 3, and the Six of Wands (you rock!) = 2 x 3, then adding 3 + 3 + 3 = 9, dividing 9 x 3 = 3. Holy cow, I just felt that three is your lucky number in your job interviews.

Please let us know the outcome when it's here. I love feedback, as I learn from it. Anyway, others here may have a different view of things. Good luck!

Hello, Gizmocrystal

The ability to pose a question does not warrant the acquisition of an answer or (in the context of fortune-telling) the discovery of the truth.

While being ever mindful of the aforementioned statement, you may benefit from expanding upon the list of significations that you assign to each card. from altering the list of significations that you assign to each card, or both.

For example, in the Pictorial Key to the Tarot, Waite notes that the three of wands could denote effort and certainly, the acts of preparing and distributing a curriculum vitae, of contacting a prospective employer, and of attending an interview constitute an effort to find employment.

When arranging tarot cards in rows, you may benefit from attempting to combine the significations of two or more cards for the purpose of forming short phrases.

For example, using my sequential method, which is intended for use with any pattern sheet that is comparable to the Tarot de Marseille patterns, I might interpret a pair comprising the three of batons preceding The World as denoting multiple answers, as denoting multiple causes, or as denoting multiple responsibilites.

If I were you, I would have drawn a card with which to pair the six of wands and with which to modify one or more of the keywords that I will have assigned to the said card.

Regards

Kevin

This is one of the dangers of doing readings for ones self. Seeing what you want to see in the cards.

You wanted the job and were inclined to read them this way - the cards themselves may have other ideas. The spread you mentioned seems more like feeding your desire and energy into landing a job, a reminder that practice and focus are sometimes key to new beginnings - but you can feel confident in a new era beginning (can't ignore that major!).

When you read for yourself (and you should!) do your best to do so dispassionately. See yourself from an outside perspective, like one of the cards looking at you. Then see what comes to mind.

Cor this is really hard!!!!

Thanks for the info. I feel really stuck! My intuition is rubbish and some people use this to help them with the interpretations.

Any ideas on how I can practice?? I do a three card draw every morning, sometimes it makes sense looking back on the day......mostly not though!!😫🤣 xx

It sounds to me like you're doing the right thing, @Gizmocrystal. A daily practice, a reading and then reflection on the reading.

But outside of that, I recommend patience and being forgiving to yourself. There is a 'rush' that comes with Tarot. An, "Ah-HA!" feeling that is immensely satisfying and makes you want to run with it. But slowing down, and accepting that it may not come quickly is very important.

After that, it's really what works for you. I devoured 3 whole book on tarot in less than a week - but that's me. I'm a weird-o. Finding a book might be your path, YouTube videos, or audio courses... or simply meditating on the cards and absorbing the symbols there.

Plus, you're in what seems to be a fine place to ask for advice. There's a "newbie" circle taking sign ups now. I did my first one last month, and it was a really positive learning exercise. @Cobweb is running it this month, and is super cool - so mayeb give a shot?

you are doing great @Gizmocrystal you are practising and learning 🙂

First of all, prediction readings are not easy, you have to be so careful how you ask the question and it doesn't always turn out you expect. I do predictions a lot and it can be very interesting how the message appears but you have to think it all through, often I am like, wow I could never have got that before it turned out! Secondly I am not a fan of yes / no readings, it traps the tarot which wants to tell you so much into a binary! Why not change the question to an open ended one like, what do I need to know about this job application / job interview? Try to make sure it doesn't end in the simplistic yes or no, it will give so much more! I always find yes or no readings that I do for myself give me inaccurate readings.

This reading does look like a yes on first glance so it's tricky it didn't work out. I wonder if you went for a job that you didn't quite have all the skills, experience or qualifications for yet, Both the 3 of Wands and World have an expansive quality to them, perhaps the jobs needed more requirements or skills and that's why it didn't work out. But this reading is a positive message, why not get the skills and expand your knowledge base to give yourself the best chance? Look at that 6 of Wands, they have confidence as they ride in because they know they will get rewards for their accomplishments. I should also say that the 3 of Wands and The World are big mutual cards about global (international companies, placements), going abroad and trade. I am interpretating your reading in this area as a learning example to show the technique as I would do it. It's sad you didn't get this job but let this motivation push you to get more knowledge, experience and skills, build up to this for the future   So the answer was no you won't get it because you need to expand your skills, experience and qualifications so you can walk in to victory getting it 🙂

@and_it_spoke Yes I think I may need to read. It's the linking cards together and knowing how they affect each other which is so hard. I dont think I have enough confidence to join the circle yet but I will do after more practice🤗xx

@DanielJUK Yes!!! the feedback that I got was they found someone more qualified!!! I cant really get anymore experience as it is training on the job and I left my last job before I qualified. I am going for trainee positions which I am over qualified for but not qualified enough for the qualified jobs so I am stuck😵🙄😊xx

Hi @Gizmocrystal! I must say, I personally have been doing this lark for a good while, and I still find the old "Will I/won't I?" questions lead to the most ambiguous answers. In fact, I avoid doing them, in that form. I know that some people develop skills in reading yes/no answers, but if I understand it correctly, they need to have a system firmly in mind before that can work clearly. So, looking at it here, what do I see..?

Firstly, you've asked one question, for three cards... but what was actually in your mind at the time? Were you focusing intently on that precise question, or were your thoughts flickering between anticipation, hope, concerns, ideas of dream jobs..? If you weren't focused directly on a precise question, it can easily end up answering something else that drifts through your mind instead! Even a slightly different phrasing of the question can lead to very different answers...

Second, I would personally have let the cards answer in a different way. For example, asking how you will feel when you hear the result will allow the cards to give an answer that comes naturally to them (they work mainly in the currency of emotions and experiences) rather than trying to force them into a less well-suited format of absolutes.

Thirdly... you've interpreted the Three of Wands as 'waiting'. This certainly can be an aspect of the card, but it's not a foremost meaning. Therefore, this meaning has come to you through intuition. That's how it works: suddenly, you see a meaning in the image, and that meaning is the one that is relevant in that particular case; learn to listen to that voice, and you'll soon be on much better terms with your subconscious! So, it suggested 'waiting' to you... and it was right. You're still waiting; your ship has sailed, and you're left standing on the cliff watching it.

The World and the Six of Wands are harder to interpret, especially without knowing exactly what you were thinking at the time... Do they come after the events of the Three, and suggest that you will get another job that involves a lot more travelling? They do seem very positive in comparison to the first card, anyway...

I think the lesson here is in learning how to focus and phrase your questions, rather than in the reading itself... that part is off to a fine start!

Whenever asking for help with a reading, the deck you used is really helpful, because some of use read the images and different decks have different images. It also helps to include the actual layout of the cards because how cards interact with neighboring cards can affect how they're interpreted.

In the reading you did, it would've helped to know if you use reversals. One way of using tarot for Yes/No answers counts the number of upright and reversed cards (with an odd number of cards), with the center card counting as two. If you do use reversals, then all upright cards in a three card reading (count of 4) is a resounding yes. If you don't use reversals, the fact that all the cards are upright doesn't necessarily mean anything.

@53rdspirit brought up a great point, and I see you got where they went with their interpretation. 😉

Whether reading for yourself or for other people, you have to accept that sometimes the cards are only going to make sense in retrospect. Most client's aren't going to be happy with that answer, but when reading for yourself, you have to understand that sometimes you won't know what the cards are trying to tell you until after the event occurs. Then it's your job as reader to figure out what part each individual card in the reading plays in what actually happened.

To illustrate the points about deck-specific imagery and not understanding until after the fact, when I was doing a deep dive into Clive Barrett's Ancient Egyptian Tarot, I did a daily 3 card reading the night before for the next day. One night I pulled the 3 Swords along with two other cards. All day long, I'm waiting for heartache or a harsh truth or something really negative to happen. At the end of the day when I'm looking back over the reading before doing a reading for the next day, I was just about ready to give up on what the card meant, when I remembered that a coworker had tried to engage me in an argument. I wasn't really having it and I disengaged myself from him. In the 3S in that deck, the man has turned his back to the woman in the card. She's sitting on the bed unhappy and possibly crying. (I can't get to that deck right now to check.)  He's standing in the doorway of their hut facing out into the night where it's raining and you can see lightning.  Just like I disengaged from my co-worker, he disengaged from his partner. Under no circumstances would I have come up with that interpretation if I had been using the Rider Waite or a clone of it! And I didn't come up with that interpretation before the event happened.

It's all after the fact now, but your spread wasnt telling you if you will or wont get the job.

The spread was telling you your ships didnt come in this time. You need to try something different, take a risk, try harder next time like sit on the edge of your chair during the interview to show the potential employer you are eager to work for them and they will see that and reward you.

Next interview, dont ask the if you will get the job.

>> Ask the cards HOW you can get the job.

But as I said, it's all after the fact now. I wish you the best in finding a job my friend. It can be tough, but dont give up.

You've received a lot of sound advice here, so I'll just add my take. On the face of it, these cards certainly imply an unequivocal "yes" to a yes-or-no question. There are a few echoes of "three-ness" in it: 3 of Wands; World (2+1 = 3); 6 of Wands as the "doubling" of the Three; and the roll-up of all the numbers, which comes to 30, and therefore 3+0 = 3, the number of the Empress, usually a strong positive. Three is a number of growth, signifying momentum, development and opportunity. But what we see in the individual cards may only be the tip of the iceberg. In a question about an initiative or enterprise, I would be more inclined to see the RWS 4 of Wands as "your ship has come in," while in the 3 of Wands it has just set sail and there is as yet no certainty of a profitable voyage, even though hopes are high; hence, the "waiting" connotation. I sometimes see the risk of being blindsided by the situation because the merchant is too absorbed in his anticipation of success. For me, it can be a cautionary card of the "don't count your chickens" sort.

The World is also normally seen as a successful conclusion to the matter, but earlier interpretations typically see it only as "the matter itself" or, at best, "the end of the matter;" this simply means that you will get your answer, one way or the other. It has a connection to astrological Saturn, and one writer noted that this can mean delay, opposition, inertia, patience, perseverance, and persistent stubbornness in difficulty. So the advice is that you may not make it on the first go, but you are likely to get there eventually. The old "If at first you don't succeed . . . " cliche.

Then we come to the 6 of Wands, once again often interpreted as a hero's triumphal procession and a powerful indicator of success. But I tend to see envy in the face of the man in the background, and sometimes read this card as "beware the competition," which can overtake you when you least expect it. I find that very little can be taken at face value in the tarot, especially when we bring free-association from the images to bear. I should note that this approach doesn't work as smoothly with the Thoth deck, where you have to "intuit" from the mood and color of the artwork, and hardly at all with the TdM, where you have to get really creative to see "stories" in the cards (or have a very good memory).

If I were you, I wouldn't use tarot to try and predict your future. I find Tarot is really good at guiding you. I would ask more questions that could be used as an advice. For example, you could ask: How can I increase my opportunities in getting a job? or something like that.

it took me 5-6 years to feel moderately comfortable with Tarot, and I have now been doing it for 35 years...and still feel like a noob sometimes!! The thing to remember is to be patient; to learn from "mistakes" and to not be afraid to keep trying.

As many have said, I would avoid - and still do after 35 years - doing personal predictions. I do follow up readings after an event, or as a summary of a day. I ESPECIALLY do readings that allow me to understand things like why I am in a certain place, and what to look ahead to as far as pitfalls or positives. I actually never even do predictions for others, but more analytical reads.

The big thing that helped me when I was learning was studying the symbolism and history of the imagery of each card while also doing readings. I would do a card a week, and I started with the Major Arcana. This endeavor was so enlightening, and refreshing. I was learning about new religions, faith systems, magick systems...it all combined into allowing to better understand ALL aspects of the cards, not just the divinatory nature of them.

In fact, this year, I am redoing this again with some new decks, and it is really cool to relearn, and rediscover many elements that the cards have still hidden from me!!
