katrinka Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Some of the main offenders ARE gone *fistbump* (and we need to keep watching this, they might possibly reappear) But there's still ten that I'm seeing.
Babalon Jones Posted March 6, 2020 Author Posted March 6, 2020 I see ten too last time I checked. That is down from 26 though. But they could be temporary take downs, like mine. If she disputes them, like she did mine, Etsy will relist them in TEN BUSINESS DAYS unless the creator or publisher files a federal court order. Which I am going to do come hell or high water, because , as the Dude says "This aggression cannot stand!"
gregory Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 It looks suspiciously like Pyroskin. Are any MRP ones up there - as Karen has had pyroskin in court more than once, I believe,
katrinka Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 (edited) Yikes, I got my Lasenic from Pyroskin! And the stock is very nice. When someone wants a Lasenic, I always post a link. But if they've been messing with Karen, or if this is them, I won't be doing that anymore. ETA: I didn't see any MRP decks there. I'd have noticed. Edited March 6, 2020 by katrinka
gregory Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 That says something.... But MAYBE it wasn't pyroskin. I do know they pirated the Dore Moonchild (was it ?) had created on AT. I had bought it before I knew.
gregory Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 (edited) And she says: I actually think they aren't the same people. The people who were counterfeiting our decks (and blatantly copying our tarot bags - and on top of that claiming theirs were silk when they were clearly polyester!) were the people who also did leather stuff. There is so much of this counterfeiting around now. We think it's ruining tarot - just not worth someone putting in the months or years of work to make a good deck when it's promptly ripped off. Very depressing.I will report that Etsy shop though - every counterfeiter that can be taken down is a good thing. And so I think it WAS pyroskin who pirated their stuff: https://pyroskin.com Look - leather ! Edited March 7, 2020 by gregory

I missed THAT particular fiasco, BTW. I do remember the Oranum one, when they were selling a pirated Victorian Romantic. Oranum is a total sleaze outfit, BTW. I signed up with them in 2013 or so to do readings, but soon left because the clientele expected sex cam stuff. Worst place ever.
DanielJUK Posted March 8, 2020 Posted March 8, 2020 I'm sorry you had this @Babalon Jones makes me think much less favourably of Etsy than I did before 😞
Babalon Jones Posted March 9, 2020 Author Posted March 9, 2020 Checking in to see if anyone has contact info for Lo Scarabeo. Two of their decks are still listed there: Masonic Tarot by Patrizio Diaz Silva, and El Gran Tarot Esoterica, by Luis Pena Longo. They might want to know.

I remember cases of people scanning decks and selling the scans for people to have printed up themselves. They've let it go for so long that the thieves are getting bold, as we see with this woman and her cardboard decks that cost more than the legit ones, and her denial that she's doing anything wrong. It’s so sad. I like Etsy — I get my card wraps and silks from crafters on there as I like supporting small independent creators — but you do see a lot of copyright issues. There was people selling canvas prints of images copyrighted and if you look for Lenormand... I ordered a replacement Carta Mundi and it’s was a Blaue Eule that was so badly printed.

I'm utterly torn. I want to support the people selling things they made, and vintage things. But I loathe supporting Etsy. I haven't completely boycotted them at this point (yet.) But my purchases there amount to a widow's mite. Everything is so dirty these days. I miss ethics.
gregory Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 (edited) I only buy on Etsy from people I have checked on and KNOW they are for real. Like - Eugene Vinitski is on there - his website even takes you to his etsy shop. The Efflorescent was there too, and a good few others I believe to be OK. (then again Bonestone is on there.... ) But I have reported the shop in question. ETA there aren't many left. but one is USGames. I have alerted them. ETA and they have reported it. After the Lenormand incident — it was in a red Jeu Lenormand box but Blaue Eule cards — I ceased buying anything other than the wraps and bags. These two sellers I use. It’s becoming harder as alternatives are narrowing. You have to dig around. I’ve got are several independent book shops, card dealers (antique and second hand), animal charities’ shop, et cetera. There’s an antique shop that always lets me know if he gets good antique glass floats. But the list gets smaller each year. However, if we try, there are vendors and sellers we can work with.

I found Pyroskin from your recomendation for the Lasenic and squeeled when I saw the H.R. Giger deck for sale. I thought Id lost my chance forever. When it arrived I remember thinking the box or stock didn't look like what I had seen online anywhere else and worried. I kept it in the back of a cupboard and forgot about it because I was so disappointed in it. I just got around to buying the Lasenic from them and then I immediately see this post. Welp. (It isn't your fault Katrinka, you didn't know).
gregory Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 Hm. The Wildwood is still up there, along with four oracles I know nothing about.
Rupicapra Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 28 minutes ago, gregory said: The Wildwood is still up there Maybe nobody complained because it is actually cheaper if you buy a proper copy? Cheeky f***ers put their own logo on some of the photos too. Strange too that they put the weird and high price on the oracle cards.
reall Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 (edited) @Babalon Jones Sorry to hear your Awesome selfpublished deck got pirated ! Also sorry to say but I give up on Etsy long time ago when they raised their fees on selers simply because they CAN as it seems people still trust etsy over selfpublishers & prefer ordering from Etsy instead directly from author! On our Tarot creators fb group we had this etsy copyright shop case where same shop is still selling plenty of well known mass printed decks just changed name & charge double & triple of legit deck price & still have over 500 positive reviews even authors & evryone else keep reporting numerous times! Etsy is still not taking it down! (Just type Ancient kingdom tarot in etsy search tool & that's the shop & Mucha Tarot & plenty more renamed!://) We had talked about this new etsy politic that seems to actually promote piracy! & big printer names don't seems particulary interested to work their lawyers & stop this disgraceful practice? @katrinka will hear what USG will say?;) Only thing we as publishers can do is create our own official tarot shop platform alternative to amazon ebay & etsy where people will be able to order legit deck directly from author Roxi Sim started something but not many people joined so far! Other than that maybe just raising awarenes etsy is Not what it used to be/legit handmade craft platform but pirated same as ebay! I was thinking of starting this topic... If there is no link to official web or author info don't buy on etsy! & yes they take listing down but renew it after few days,,, !
Eugenie Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 The nerve of these people! I went and checked, out of interest, and they sell Barbieri Fantasy Cats Oracle for $118 whereas it is $18 on Amazon. And it is also most likely fake, right? it is listed as "handmade" which is nonsense since they are not the authors. I will report them and leave them a review on their FB page.
