AeonHorus Posted June 30, 2020 Posted June 30, 2020 Just reconditioned and reproduced my second historical deck. I know that you were saying you wanted to see it @FindYourSovereignty, I also figured you'd like a sneak peak @Merrick , @pacificwaters , @Flaxen @iMoodyCrab & @Aldor44 😉 I got it from the French site you linked in your thread @Morsoth and I can't thank you enough for that! It is the Tarot Italien 1860. It was in quite a bad condition and I had to use some PS skillz to get it back in order lol. In some cards half the text image was missing and I had to rebuild it up as you can see here below. Before:~ After:~ It took time and effort but it was well worth it I can tell you, a really great way to connect with the cards on a much deeper level! Fulfilling to see the result on screen but I can't wait to get the deck back in the flesh. I have oped for the Linen finish, a tad more expensive but it is my baby so she's worth it 😉 Here are a few more examples I love the way this deck goes against the grain a little and actually names the 13th Card. Ugualianza roughly translates from Italian to "The Equaliser" which brings a whole new concept to my table. and the Re di Bastoni I changed a little a. to personalise it as my own and b. because the original felt a little unfinished and I just not for love nor money, could I get the ink to sit right in it. I felt is should be orange and not left blank with the print. Left blank just looked well see for yourselves and let me know. From this... To this.... I overlaid the coin from the ace of coins into the shield itself them stamped the face from Mr Luna a top of that. To my eye it looks more in place.... Anyway 🙂 let me know your views love it or hate it I am very interested to hear your opinions. Aeon

I like the bonding that must evolve from this activity and I especially like your efforts to make it your own. Without seeing the other cards, I am not sure how I feel about the white coin change in comparison to the deck as a whole, however, here it looks well done and creates a connection with this card to the moon. And being a Cancer child, I love the moon. Thank you for sharing!
Albadawn Posted July 1, 2020 Posted July 1, 2020 This really is gorgeously done! You must be so excited for the finished cards to arrive with you. I'd love to see some more pictures when they do!

I had an e-mail just this afternoon telling me that they were in production already and should be here 2 to 3 business days. So before Saturday I am hoping 🙂 Will definitely keep you posted.

AeonHorus Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 Well what a lovely surprise I got when I got home from work this dinner time (that's lunchtime as I am a Brit lol). I had been in no longer than 20 mins when my phone rang and yes there is was... The delivery guy... Mr Tarot Stork himself... My deck had arrived 😄 As promised here are the images.

reall Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Beautiful!:D I like how well you make these look while preserving authentic vintage viba!:D small remark i would restrain from *correction as purist may not like that with their original vintage marselj deck?:) or you can have 2cards original & correct variants so we are all happy?:)
Morsoth Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Wow! That's really impressive! You did a marvelous work on this! I slowed down on these projects, because I had other kind of projects I wanted to do, but I'll get back to doing reproduction of vintage tarot cards very soon!

Where I get the cards printed an 80 card deck and a 78 card deck is the same price, (oh how I wished I had checked that BEFORE I'd placed the bloody order lol)so yes I would in fact include the "corrected" & the "original" cards in future, as indeed I did with the last deck I reconditioned... 😄

Make a title card and include the modified card as the 80th card, and that's it. This is was I did with my Petit Etteilla (with and without the tax stamp):
reall Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 you are welcome!:) happy you find my comment helpful & we all like extra cards!;D

pacificwaters Posted July 4, 2020 Posted July 4, 2020 Wow, I was seriously blown away after having a look at the cards. Sorry I couldnt reply earlier since I was travelling, but your work on this deck is very enviable. Though I am of the types who could be a purist myself, but your work with that coin in the Re Di Bastoni was commendable. There is definitely this shift from the original for the coin, but your color selection and its amalgamation was so fantastically done that its difficult to say that you have done some edits. The cards of Chariot, Devil and World are eye-catchy as also the Aces. Great work @AeonHorus I am a serious fan of your restoration works!!
