Thank you, Fire Cat! I'm in with the Gill Tarot paired with The Circle this week. Don't make excuses for why you can't get it done. Focus on all the reasons why you must make it happen. —Ralph Marston The King of Wands is Fire of Fire, full of aggressive, dynamic energy. When he gets inspired, he uses his strong will to motivate everyone to step lively. He'd prefer to have everything done by yesterday and tolerates no slackers. On the plus side, he's like a lightning bolt - his burning enthusiasm only lasts for so long (which is a blessing to those working for him). Flow comes to remind the King and us that having things done NOW is not always possible; reality often intervenes. We can't always micromanage and force the results we want. Sometimes we must work with what we're given and allow time for things to develop on their own. As Matsuo Bashō wrote, "Sitting quietly, doing nothing, spring comes, and the grass grows by itself."

Hi all - I'm a new member and am very grateful to have found you all. I just finished a book length manuscript called CBM - A Fool's Journey. I would be honored for anyone to read it and share their thoughts. https://www.cbmspace.com/

Welcome to the community @CBM121 😃 The rules only allow people to self-promote in certain areas of the forum and not in the main threads as we want them to be for discussions, not just posts linking to someone's own site. The Writing and Art forum is also not for linking off site, just if people want to promote their creations there in the community. Promote Yourself is the best place for you, you can start a thread there and do whatever you want with it. Post links, images, text, whatever you want. You have to be a subscriber to access this area, even if you take it out for a month. You can update your thread there and post new posts, once every week. As well as posting in that section, with a subscription you can post links in your signature and also add links in the link directory in the forum main menu Hope that makes everything clearer about how it all works.

The Celtic Cross is a more elaborate spread than is often needed, but I do think it's a good idea to get to grips with it. If nothing else, it shows how cards link up and influence one another. It also shows what KINDS of information you can get from a tarot reading. It's just that it's not a good spread for every situation or question. I suspect most of us 'old' people started out with this spread, and worked into less elaborate spreads as we got 'wiser.' But, like lots of knowledge, it is a good place to start ...at least for learning purposes. Maybe try setting up a Celtic spread with your cards, without asking a question. Use a printed 'map' to keep you straight. Then build a 'story' from what shows up. What is influencing the current situation (the crossing card), what is past, what has helped to set it up (the foundation), what is the overview at the moment, what is likely to happen next, what will your attitude be as things develop, what aspects of the situation can YOU control, what is outwith your control, what do you hope for, what do you wish for, etc? It's all there in the Celtic spread. Working with the Celtic spread as a learning exercise using any cards is very good practice, even if the story these specific cards tell isn't relevant to your own life at the moment.

I’m in this week with the Old Lenormand by Alexander Glück. This is reproduction of the apparently oldest Lenormand deck. The cards have a really nice energy. Will post a reading with scans later.

A unique version of Reading Circle for those who would like to work through their collection of decks, participants choose decks from their collections to work with for the week. Some use one deck, others use two or more. Some combine methods: Tarot, non-tarot (e.g. oracle), playing cards, or any other divinatory method is welcome. All we ask is that you use at least one tarot or oracle deck. No collection is too large or too small. The only rules we have are the Tarot, Tea & Me Rules; Be respectful of one other. Please join us! Please post with your choice of deck(s) for the week Chat away about your deck, how you're finding it (or not), etc., it's all up to you Participants may either choose to share their readings here in this discussion thread or opt to have their own journal in the Journals Forum and link it here Yet others may even have an offline journal in paper & pencil/pen form Share as often, as much, or as little as you like. You can drop in and out at any time—reality and life permitting. New to tarot? Long time reader? Come on in! Participants fire cat pickles: Tarot de la Rea Click here for DOTW 482 (9/28- 10/4)

Hi, @skrunchpuff . I also spent most of my time reading for myself. I did learn a lot doing that, and became very comfortable with my cards and interpreting them. But somehow, it opens huge new doors to be able to read for other people, and find out how THEY read and what things THEY have learned. This is an excellent forum. It's run extremely well by the moderators, and there is no unpleasant nonsense allowed. The 'reading circles' ...for tarot, lenormand and oracle cards ...are great ways to exchange readings. Once you've been here long enough to do a few posts and interactions with others, you are okay to join a reading circle. To access these circles, go to Community at the top of the Home page. Choose Forums. Then scroll down to Reading the Cards, which will get you into the tarot reading circle area. If you scroll down further on the Forums site, you will find Tea-Other topics to discuss over tea. In that section you will find Lenormand and also Oracles ...both of these sections lead to reading circles as well. I think you'll have fun here and learn a lot as well. 😀

Do you have the spread printed on paper to reference? And, Celtic Cross is a difficult time for new readers. Consider looking up some 3 card spreads and others that are not such a deep dive. But during class, having it printed may help a lot.

Hi all, I have two questions about the Promote Yourself forum. I'm new here and want to follow the rules. I want to invite people to read a tarot centered story I just finished and uploaded to a dedicated website I own. There's no charge, no business, just a story. I want to give a short explanation and the url. Q1: is the Promote Yourself forum the place to do this, and if so, how do you start a new topic? I dont see a way to do that. Q2: Would it be better for me to do this on the Writing & Art forum? That one feels better to me but I am a guest in your country :) so I don't want do this wrong. Thanks for your help!

Hello all, I'm an old fool from NYC. Tarot found me five years ago. I see tarot as a creative catalyst for active imagination, resonating with and illuminating along archetypal, Jungian correspondences. I try not to get lost in the sauce of tarot for its own sake. The sacred surrounds all and tarot can help align us intentionality with love, compassion, wonder and gratitude. Tarot can help us be our best selves as healthy, positive cells in the lifeblood of our common soul.

Hi, @Crystalsandcards Welcome to the forum! You say you've been studying for the past 7 months or so. Is that tarot you've been studying? Maybe crystals as well? Is there anything in particular you wanted to 'find' here on the forum? The setup can be a bit intimidating at first, although...fear not! ...the folks here are very kind and helpful. BTW, I'm also in the UK ...Scotland. So we're in the same time zone.

Welcome and good luck! I know next to nothing about Essex, except for the alleged descent from the Old Norse/Anglo-Saxon god Seaxneat, the activity of St. Cedd and the alleged prevalence of chavs. Old county Essex was eaten by Greater London in the last few generations, wasn't it?
