Hi again, @Moon-Hermit The answers now may come across a bit hair-splitty, that's not due to me wanting to enforce anything, it's just the Lenormands - the more you go into detail, the harder it gets to talk about in a roundabout way. Here we go: It is not beneficial - it is kind of beneficial. When the mountains turn up, the situation described is challenging, it takes that flavour to the read no matter where. When to the far left of a line, it can point towards having past over the worst part of it. It is a barrier, in a sense. So long as the one you read for does not want to go back and change the situation and instead is ready to move on, it makes it unlikely that the other side takes action to interfere with that, which is kind of beneficial - the querent/client/seeker can focus on how to proceed without worries. However, that's it. If the q/c/s is hell-bent on changing the situation instead of walking away from it, it is mountaineering-time again. Somehow, the quote-function stopped to work for me right now, so the below had to be cited old-school: "I think whatever you decide on (about choosing directions in different decks) the universe or whatever is out there responds accordingly, as long as you remain consistent. That's where I tend to say "The cards do conform to their user to a degree". What I found to be important is that it has to make sense to the user. The cards (by virtue of our graceful universe) conform most to the things which make it easier for the user to grasp a wider scope of information. There's two parts to consider: Personal affinity as well as open-mindedness. It does stay a learning experience, where we make it easier and easier to deal with more and more information, in the range of human limitedness. The universe itself in its wholeness definitely is a notch above what our brains can handle, but we're getting there. Slowly, and step by step. Steady makes the race, wasn't it?

I've tried in several browsers, including the one with NO security settings, which I save for times like this. And the multiquote has sorted itself without my making any changes. But it would be good if it were chronological.

When you know - you know. Imo. There is one person with whom I was absolutely certain I had past life links. I met her one evening at a pyjama party at University in my 1st year. We were standing in line to get into the party and struck up a conversation. She was from Guadalupe, France. Our meeting was like when old friends who haven't seen each other for years, pick up where they left off as if nothing has happened. If you catch my drift. And we were fast and comfortable friends onwards, until the day she went back to Guadalupe and I never heard from her again. Maybe - this is also why I so like Our Lady of Guadelupe.

About the Follow button and opening in a new tab, this is almost certainly your browser settings. I saw in another thread you couldn't multi quote posts. You need to tone down some of the security settings in your browser for the forum, things like multi quote and thread buttons don't work with the highest security settings in browsers. You have to allow some of them and then it works fine. You can test this out by browsing in Incognito Mode / Private Browsing. If it works fine, it's security add ons / settings. Too high security seems to block cross thread things, which is why opening in a new tab makes Follow work.

Yes - I was waiting for the reading interpretations, so I could see what you were referring to about The Hanged Man. Lol. We see this table in the 1st episode with Fry glancing at it and commenting that "somebody is trying to contact the dead" - or along those lines. Interesting comment for the spread. I do like how she says it in such a matter-of-fact way (the character, Fry).

And then there's this deck which is OOP and has been on my wish list for years 🙃: The McCullough Effect Steampunk Tarot. It's the last thing I was expecting to see on my day off!

So I had an unexpected day off this week - which I spent in my favourite occult bookstore - Treadwells Bookshop, Bloomsbury, London. And I have acquired some more bed-time decks: This is the front and back of the same cards. Some of them are quite interesting.

No cards in the first episode? I had to go back and check, and this was at roughly 34 minutes in. But the coming episodes has more of it, I don’t believe she ever did any interpretations of the cards in the first episode. They were just there at the table, if I remember correctly

I'm never spoiled by spoilers. Just completed 1st episode with no cards, screaming heads and a hand of glory. I rather like series like this which have a quirky flavour. I can't wait for the next instalment...🤓

You mean it in the sense that, if, for example, a positive card comes up after it’s good because you’ve managed to get over whatever that obstacle was? Ah! This is the part I couldn’t find anywhere, or figure out on my own. So interesting, thanks for explaining it. Ooh, I didn’t know this one, but it’s similar to how I read the gaze of the Jack of Clubs. Wherever he looks signifies what he wants to pick a fight on. Though their being pissed off has different reasons; the Queen of Clubs like you said, means it out of spite, whilst the Jack of Clubs can be just hot headed and too easily provoked. This all makes a lot of sense. What I initially learned was that whatever the Court cards have turned their backs on is what they ignore— in the case of the Queen of Clubs, it’s what she misses. But what you explained here sounds logical, especially as it can also be applied to the card’s illustration. About the ending, I am going to try very hard to not do any spoilers, but I believe that the reading with the Hermit card held the key to that surprising turn of events. It was given an unusual interpretation, and in hindsight it all fits very well. I did enjoy how she interpreted Wheel of Fortune as gambling, and (if I remember correctly) the 10 of Pentacles as 'money'. I agree that it would have been nice to see the cards more clearly, but I guess we can always go back and pause to look at the cards more carefully. I too hope, and believe, that there will be another season.

I have just seen the last episod, couldn´t belief the ending... But it was a good tv-serie and I hope that there will be more episodes. Wish they would have showed the cards more open...

I'm happy to say I've just discovered it and will be watching it tonight!

@Moon-Hermit Most of what comes now won't be news. It is neither "da best" nor generally binding. Its how I fare with the three cards you mentioned above: the Key, the Mountain and the Snake For the Key I take note where the bit points, that is the card unleashed; the locked one is the one on the side of the shank. They do differ per pack, indeed - Dondorf and Blue Owl open up the right side, the Brepols the one to the left - and then there are cases where it is ambiguous, such as with the Game of Hope. If things are not so clear, I default to sequence of layout, that is, read the card to the left as locked, the card to the right as unleashed. With the Mountain, I mind the sequence as well, say if I lay the line out from left to right, a mountain to the left is less troubling (sometimes kind of beneficial, even) than one to the right. Same with top and down. Mountain atop is much heavier than one at the feet. So, not much going by picture with that one for me. And the Snake. Depends on - Where's my dictionary? - how much "to the fore" she is, concerning the read. If she's just sitting there at a distance, I do not care much about what she is facing and where, save for the moments my attention is somehow captured by her - when she's close, I do observe what she wants to get (direction she's facing) and what matter she complicates/clings to (card behind or the side where the tree is). The card she's looking at can also be something she's pissed about. It is a deduction from what she wants to get - rid off, in this case. Why exactly she wants what she wants I read best from whats above her head if there is anything, if not: see below. Card No.7 has a strange feature: There are few decks where the Queen and the head of the snake face in the same direction. There is a tendency to read what is at the back of the head of a court card as, well, what's at the back of the head of the person represented by it, in other words, their intention or reason. I find it works, however, with the snake I have to watch which one appears more striking to me - the Queen or the Snake - and read accordingly. With the Brepols, it is the Queen, with the Blue Owl, it is the Snake. No idea why, though. Still works. The old Dondorfs are particularly nice in that regard, they look in the same direction. So to her left is her target, to the right her reason (in a line) or the matter she complicates by clinging to it, which will most likely have something to do with her reason.

Okay, I don't know why I didn't notice this earlier but I came across it in Andy Boroveshengra's book (mine is the new 2015 edition) and here is what is said about the Snake: "Why would this woman want to deceive you? To discern this little detail, we could look at what the Snake is facing." This is mentioned in the section on how to build combinations, under the heading "by direction". I think for the Mountain it is also mentioned that some decks illustrate one with a peak, so the side which you would use to climb up to that peak would be more difficult than the other one, in my opinion. I am not sure yet. It would kind of make sense though, as the deck I use (Dondorf) shows the rising side on the left and the falling side on the right. If the mountain shows up in front of/after another card, it would be a more difficult obstacle than to the card that comes after it. It blocks whatever comes before.

I just finished watching the first season of the British crime series called Cooper & Fry. It is based on the books by Stephen Booth. Many of the episodes contains British folk lore, and there is also a character (the mother of police officer Ben Cooper) who does multiple tarot readings which tie into the cases that the polices are investigating. I really enjoyed this series and I feel like the episodes kept getting better and better. In the beginning I was a bit unsure about the interpretations that was given about some of the cards, but as time went on, I could see that they had put effort into understanding tarot and doing something clever with it. I also found that the readings gave clues about how it was all going to end. If anyone else has seen it, it would be fun to hear what you thought!

I overhand shuffle and what I do, is just to turn a pile of cards for my reversals and shuffle them in. Just take a random number of cards and reverse them. I've seen some people make piles, like you make 4 piles of cards and then turn whichever piles call to you. You can make as many piles as you want. Also I've noticed on here that people turn some cards, and at the end of the reading put them all back upright. They seem to want a small amount, like maybe 10% of the deck. Personally I have some decks I use reversals (mostly RWS) and some I don't and I keep the reversals in. So I turn a pile or two whilst overhand shuffling and I never know how many are upright or not, this is the random shuffled order of the cards for the reading for me. It's not as hard as it seems, try out different ways and find what works for you. There are no rights or wrongs here
