Preparing to do a tarot reading (for someone else).

I never do anything elaborate to prepare myself before doing readings, be it for myself or for someone else, because the couple of times that I did so it just made it harder for me to interpret the cards for some reason (though of course if you're feeling nervous doing a short and simple breathing exercise beforehand can help). I just sit at my table, shuffle, pull the cards and interpret them; I do a lot of readings for my mom as well and she's quite demanding (she's always excited and wants answers quickly! 🤣) so that's influenced my reading style on a whole, I guess. If I'm doing multiple questions or reading for many people I take a break (maybe fifteen minutes or so) and then come back. Of course if you feel really exhausted it's better to just leave the cards where they are and return when you're feeling like it; I've had a few instances of feeling drained after readings as well, though interestingly they occured mostly when I was reading for people with whom I didn't have a blood connection--- I rarely feel like that afterwards when I'm reading for family or for myself. If you're planning to read cards professionally and charge a price, I think that determining how many clients/how much you could put into it regularly would do you good. I don't, so that's why I'm a bit more easy going in my practice I suppose.

    Card Directions in Lenormand

Hi @DanielJUK, thanks for your reply ❤️ Yes, I'm aware of the fact that they differ from deck to deck (that's why I don't rely on images and for instance just see it as a rule that the Scythe always cuts to the right--- otherwise I'd have to rethink it for every single new deck!) and are used sparingly. I have already went through the threads you've posted and took notes. These three cards specifically are just bugging me a little bit because I couldn't find much about them anywhere 😅...

    Card Directions in Lenormand

There are some old threads on the forum with ideas about this. Summarising them..... There is no agreement on the facing directions, apart from Clouds (sunny side / dark side). Each deck does it differently and so you might need to work it out per deck if you want to use them, or notice when doing the reading. Card Directions has become very popular in modern books / decks but are perhaps not the most important thing in a reading, like they might be helpful when you see them but are not the whole reading. Readers use this differently, some more so, some less so. (some of these discussions are about other cards but the later posts are useful generally) This thread begins with a discussion about Signficator card facing but evolves to any directions....
  6. Worth looking at local groups and tarot associations in your country @MouthOfTheLion. They often have meetings and ways of meeting others if you want to do it in person. Otherwise you can now (at 5 posts) offer exchanges here and do join in our monthly reading circles where you can practice with other members

    Forest of Enchantment

There's a past discussion about the Forest of Enchantment Tarot.... The Oracle only came out in August 2025, so is fairly recent. I don't think there have been past discussions about it, but we can have a thread discussing it now 🙂

    Forest of Enchantment

I feel like I have seen it depicted in threads, and I tried to do a forum search, but for some reason the search function didn’t work. (I didn’t get any results, even when I searched for ”and” 😁)

    Forest of Enchantment

I've been trying to find the Forest of EnchantmeOracle here but for some reason, I can't seem to find it. Normally I haven't used oracles hardly at all but I've enjoyed my Forest of Enchantment Tarot so much that I decided I should also have the Oracle. I've been trying to find it here in the Oracle section but haven't found it so far. Does anyone else have it? Surely I'm just not looking in the right place because I can't imagine that nobody else has it.
  11. Lately I’ve been working more with card directions, but a few are still unclear to me. Any help would be deeply appreciated. 1) What does the Snake’s head vs. its tail signify? I guess the tail is the source of the treachery and the head points at what’s she’s biting? But I’m not sure. 2) The Mountain. This one confuses me a bit because most of the time I use the Dondorf deck and there’s no clear open/closed side on the Mountain card (at least to my eyes); or are directions read in another way here? 3) The Key; I already know that it says yes (unlocks) whatever comes before it and affirms the message of the following card as certain (locks), but I’m curious if the cards above and below have any significance as well, like what we see with the Cross, Book and Tower cards?
  12. Serge Pirotte is offering another Intro to Lenormand class this September. 7 weeks, $140. https://www.laetitiacartomancy.com/classes-1/p/learn-lenormand-with-lenormand-expert-serge-pirotte-f8c7m (I’m not affiliated with this class at all, other than as a happy student — I took this class and one on Belline from Serge last year. I’m taking this one again to strengthen my skills — Serge is SO good.)

    Ana Cortez’s System

Thank you @Marina I have the first version of the cards and an accompanying book. I don’t know quite why but the art style turned me off , I don’t mind different or dark, this was something else I couldn’t pin down that turned me away. The Alchemy deck looks a bit better, I will look at the Somlipith deck and see how that looks. As I told @Moon-Hermit above I am studying not her deck but when I do move onto this will will let you know if you like. Thanks again !

Preparing to do a tarot reading (for someone else).

Yes, I am on the hunt for local people to practice with. Some of the people in my social circle are suspicious of tarot but use oracle cards or are open to receiving readings with oracle cards, I'm not sure if it's worth it to go down that road or not. Oracle cards don't interest me as much as tarot, but I would be getting practice with the physical aspects of sitting down with someone and doing a reading.

My work as a gifted psychic

Hello @Donna24 welcome to the TT&M Family

What's your favorite way to get to know your decks?

The questions, of course! I know he doesn't care what the other cat thinks of him.. though he might be interested to know how to get the dog to stop sniffing his butt. 🤔😆

2 & 3 of Cups as symbols of polyamory

Yes it can. 2 of Cups + 3 of cups could indicate a couple inviting a third person. The latter just means sex involving multiple people, it doesn’t say anything about emotions or commitment. Some polyamorous have group sex (or so I have been told, by a polyamorous person 😄), others don’t.

My work as a gifted psychic

After years of training within the Academy of Sorcery, I finally gained my in depth knowledge as to my true psychic abilities and how to foresee the present through the on goings of the past. Through tarot divination mainly, numerology and crystal gazing, I am able to foresee love plus relationship resolutions, career and financial breakthroughs. My current favorite deck of cards are Waite tarot cards.

2 & 3 of Cups as symbols of polyamory

It could also indicate group sex. The way I understand both polyamory and group sex, polyamory indicates committed (on some level) relationships with multiple people. Group sex would mean sexual activity with several people at once but no real deep romantic commitments with the added people.

  26. In considering the 6 of Cups as the energy between a couple, I'd consider it to mean that the energy was not predominantly sexual. That it was a healthy, well-rounded energy that included shared interests and activities they had in common. If there is a sexual relationship it wouldn't be the main focus of the relationship, it would just be a healthy, reasonable part of their lives. Their energy as a couple would be very positive and I'd expect they would continue in that relationship for a very long time.
  27. I view the Major Arcana as a series of practical processes for shadow work, spiritual development, and awakening. They form the most concise manual for self-realization I have ever come across. Note: The work of manifestation is simply a byproduct of this process. To understand how that works, look at the Major Arcana cards arranged in three rows: Row 1: Spiritual Development (The Magician to The Hermit): The journey begins not with a question, but with an objective. The first row of the Major Arcana establishes what we need to achieve—the ultimate goal of the self-development process. Before we can change how we interact with the universe, we must first understand what an awakened state of being actually looks and feels like. Row one is that gold standard. Working to embody this row is the core of spiritual development, where manifestation occurs either as a natural byproduct or with a little extra focused effort toward what we truly desire. Row 2: Shadow Work (The Wheel of Fortune to The Moon): If the first row is the destination, the second row is the road trip. It represents the how—the exact process of achieving that higher state. This row signifies ego-dissolution, trials, karma, and rebirth. It is the practical, often turbulent methodology of awakening that teaches us how to navigate change, surrender control, and dismantle false constructs of the self. Furthermore, it reveals exactly what lies behind our actions, relationships, and suffering. Row 3: Fulfillment & Integration (The Sun to The Fool): True awakening is useless if it only exists while meditating on an isolated mountaintop. This row is entirely about integration. It maps out how to live a fulfilled, luminous life by bringing this radical new understanding back down to earth and into our everyday conscious awareness. I would love to hear from you: Does this arrangement sit well with you? Have you ever dug deep into shadow and spiritual development work using the Major Arcana?
