Hello everyone hope your all safe and well, I’m just wondering how many cards to you pick for yourself regularly, I know there are daily card pickers but are 3 cards too much on a daily basis for yourself? Thank you

Hi everyone my question is can you learn tarot from sources such as books, internet or even a tarot teacher or is it a gift? Some people are naturally gifted to read the cards but can they be learnt and interpreted if you have a great interest?

Do you think the quality of the reader/deck "relationship" is pre-ordained by the intent (or perceived spiritual authenticity) of the deck creator? Also, how much of the deck/reader experience is actually influenced by the "author", as I would naively imagine that the illustrator is the predominant influence on how a reader engages and experiences a deck? I'm really curious about people's thoughts on this one. My own background is that I have recently acquired and am quite enamored with the Wildwood Deck, it really speaks to me deeply. I am also aware of some (but not all) of the baggage behind Mark Ryan's dealings with Chesca Potter and the Greenwood deck whi…

Hi Everyone, Just joined in the past week, really grateful for everything and everybody here, feel really inspired by this a thoughtful and mature community. I have recently been visiting a number of Tarot social media sites (problem #1, I know) in order to get high(ish)-volume practice at reading with a new deck that has really captured my passion (Wildwood). My experience with this deck has been really profound, and it feels like it really cuts at a deep level (both with my personal work with the deck and in my readings for others). I'm curious if others feel disheartened or "pulled down" by the fact that 90-99% of Tarot interest/traffic seems to be focused …

Hi all, I am completely new to tarot and am trying to learn the cards and their meanings whilst also trying to let intuition guide me rather than simply memorising things. I am currently pulling a card a day for myself and trying to write my intuitive thoughts first and then looking up the meanings after. Wondered how everyone else started out or any tips for the best way to learn as a complete novice.

Hi Everyone, New to this group and loving it. I'm wondering how experienced readers handle deck differences, for example the 5 of Vessels from the Wildwood Tarot vs. the RWS 5 of cups? And...what do these differences say about the underpinnings if why Tarot works, is it like speaking two similar languages, but one has a slightly different alphabet? All perspectives welcome!

Happy upcoming New Year, TT&M family! 🥰 I am currently on pain medication for some major medical events that have transpired in my life recently, but today I had a fulfilling reading experience. However, reading while not-quite-sober is a jarring experience for me. I am someone who loves to feel in control, so though I am pretty lucid today, the fact that I am dizzy and experiencing some side effects of the medicine has my mind racing a bit when I am reading. How do you manage the responsibility of a reading alongside being sober, or not-sober? I am just curious to hear about others' experiences and thoughts on this topic. No judgment whatso…

This is something I wrote up about a month ago and posted elsewhere but it didn't get feedback which left me a little sad. So let me try it here. What does everyone think about Types of Tarot Spreads? Do yours all fall into one of these categories? Is there another I should add? Relationship-Based ReadingsAbout 80% of the time, tarot readers are asked about relationships, especially romantic relationships. Relationships with people at work or in the family or friendship circle are pretty popular too. I feel like a psychoteric approach is best when it comes to using the tarot to talk about our relationships with people. Psychoterica (as a subset of esoterica) is basi…

Hi all! I wonder how do you guys link cards together? I use RW tarot cards and am not a pro (also new to this forum as well). It has always been hard for me to link them together to read cards “like a story”. I know that I’m supposed to find things in common but sometimes it’s very hard to do so! any recommendations? thanks! yalda

I asked what I needed to Avoid in order to work on my current problem, the problem was the temperance which resonated with me but when the problem it told me to avoid came up as Ace of Cups I was a little confused. What are some possible meanings on this? Perhaps avoiding a new love interest?

To my knowledge, from perusing this forum and others, it's an agreed upon thing, that there is no explanation as to how the right cards show up in the right place at the right time. Here's an idea I had about this: Imagine, for the sake of argument and this theory, that on the etheric/energy plane, we carry with us in our being, an energetic packet of information, that "law-of-attraction-like" magnetically pulls to us experiences that we need in order to grow spiritually. This packet automatically brings us experiences that our Higher Self/God/The Universe knows will benefit us and push us to mature as a spiritual being. Then imagine a piece of technology that c…

I just wrote this for my personal tarot journal but thought others might enjoy it. If I've posted in the wrong place, I apologize in advance! I've been drawing a single card every day for a few weeks now and yesterday I drew the Devil. This was at 6:00 am so I thought, "Well, my day is shot." I was wrong. Like the other cards I've drawn, I looked at it and asked, "Ok buddy, what lesson do you have for me today?" Once I got past the obvious stuff, my mind went blank so I set the card up beside my monitor and got back to work. Or I tried to. I stopped and glanced at it all morning looking for an insight that resonated with me.…

A discussion I had in my readings exchange thread with another member prompted me to develop a new layer of understanding to the Majors. I'm sure this has been written about in many books already and it's nothing new to you seasoned readers, I would like to get additional insights to this from others though and see what your take might be on this. So my cascade of insights started with the other member noting that Death is in a sense the opposite of the Emperor. After mulling that over for a while and trying to understand this from an energetic point of view (how I tend to categorize my way of "getting" stuff), I applied this template of thinking to all Majors…

Hello everyone, So I am experimenting with a technique in finding squares and challenges in my birthchart, pairing the planetary aspects with the Tarot and seeing what insights I can get. I wanted to see your opinions on how the cards Judgement and Wheel of Fortune could create turmoil or opposition in their pairing.

So I'm interested in hearing other peoples approach to this. Where do you start from in a reading? Do you first look at the cards and try to catch the overall message and hope for an intuitive hit which will give you the starting direction, or do you start by going "so I see the 4 of Swords here which means that maybe it's a time to step back and take a break" and try to trigger the intuition that way? I know it's probably the most basic question ever but I'm interested because for me (in my practice readings for imaginary people) it seems to be both. Sometimes I directly get a story/concept popping into mind and I work from there, and sometimes I'm just listing off the k…

I wondered something. Let's say I'm in a moment where I'm having a lot of fear about something. I do a reading during that emotional state, and the cards I pull tend to validate my fear, which makes me more afraid. But if I calm down and come back to the question later, I may get a totally different result. Maybe a positive one that puts my fears to rest. Do any of you ever experience anything like that? And if so, what do you make of it?

Recently I started a small tarot business as I have been practicing on my own for some time and am trying to make some money before moving out. So it’s been about two weeks and I’ve had three readings I’ve done now for three separate people where I start to get a lot of anxiety out of no where. I’m not sure if it’s just me or if I’m picking up on their energy because they’ve all been trauma readings with the exception of one which was for a girl asking if she’d get back with her ex soon. So I’m a little concerned as to why this anxiety is coming out of nowhere and if it’s something that I should or shouldn’t be experiencing during readings. Any insight would be appreciate…

I grew up in the Midwest playing good ole Euchre and IDK if that’s a contributing factor or what, but I hate overhand shuffling. I’m not sure if I’m just too acquainted with playing cards or just plain old superstitious but overhand shuffling doesn’t feel satisfying or “right” to me in any way. Every time I shuffle my cards overhand style I always re-do it; the never feel properly mixed or blended or whatever to me. so...as a result, I riffle shuffle and bridge all my decks (Judge me, I know) and PREDICTABLY, that beats them up pretty badly- especially any with sub par card stock. For a while I was just considering it “the gauntlet” so to speak, like if cards cou…

Is there a way to determine in what part of your life an event will occur? Let's say it comes out of your reading that you will experience a financial windfall and you would like to know from which direction it is coming. Or you will receive some bad news. Or where will I meet my future partner. Like when you read your horoscope and you have work, love and health. I could see pentacles as work, cups as family/friends. What about arts for example? Wands? And Swords? Or maybe other parts of life that currently slip my mind. I could just try to read the card I pull, but not all the cards have distinct 'part of life' feeling about them. But I'm looking for a simpl…

So, I can't really post the readings cuz they're for other people and I wanna keep their stuff relatively private u_u Last night, I was getting cards for some readings I was doing and I hit some bumps in the road. In one reading, I got two identical cards. This is fine, since the deck itself has duplicates, so I can use the alternate card. However, usually, I wouldn't include the alternate designs since that's A Lot of Cards to shuffle. I didn't think too much of it, but then, in another reading, I got the same card twice, which wouldn't be possible with a physical deck. Should I include these cards, or use the alternate versions? If I do include them, how shoul…

One of the bloggers I follow, someone who also helped publish the Normal Tarot, is working on creating a deck that's entirely made up of existing cards from other tarot decks. I was wondering if you guys knew of any public domain decks :0 Heres the general tag for info on the project if ur interested, and some more specific posts about it ( X and X)

i've been entertaining the idea of doing some free readings in public (yes, i know we're in the middle of a pandemic, i've thought about safety precautions-- a topic for another time!) which brought me to this question. i was curious how often, exactly, do most readers cleanse their deck. if, for example, you are booked for a party and do, say, maybe nine or ten readings, would you wait until after the party was over to cleanse your deck? would you do a mini cleanse in-between sitters? after five people? alternatively, when do you know that you need to cleanse your deck? are some people's energy more "sticky" than others?

Hi all. I am a seasoned tarot user though not a professional and I've only used them for self-exploration for a long time now (I am 47). In fact, I've recently come back to tarot and have been enjoying exploring decks I hadn't seen before. I came across the Mary-El and loved the artwork, so I purchased them. I still love the artwork, but when I read the book I struggle to understand many of the cards as I feel the meanings deviate significantly in some of them. I struggle most with the minor arcana. I'm not bothered by non-traditional decks - favourites in my collection are the Thoth, Prisma Visions and the El Goliath.I suppose I'm after other people's experiences wi…
