t\Two things I don't believe there are any standing rules for. I've decided over the years, to decide what I believe and stand by it with consistency, then I have guidelines for my readings. If the card action faces left, it is the past, action faces right, happening in the future. Dead on, timing not knowable. I haven't see any fun in doing yes no questions, purely my own years of experience, but I just did an experiment based on years of card knowledge and was surprised at how well yes no was shown to me. Based on recent questions, I figured why not use the same questions allowing me no bias. Am I alive? 6 of Coins. Yes. I can grasp gi…

I noticed that they have upgraded their Tarot kit boxes. When I bought the Golden Dawn Magical Tarot and the Tarot of Vampyres around two years ago, while the cards have been average (if a bit on the thin side) physically speaking and the companion books simply divine (they were critically lauded and were definitely some of the best in the market), the box these sets came with were an altogether tragic affair. They were flimsy, sad things that would cave in if they were stacked with other sets or books. There was a huge, near-universal clamor for tougher and hardier boxes, but nobody was really expecting anything since Llewellyn has survived for years upon years and this …

Hello, I just found out about TT&M yesterday and I am really glad to be here. In one of my tarot books there is a quote saying, "There are no bad cards in the tarot, just lessons to be learned." This quote sort of changed the way I do readings. For example, I used to think the 10 of Swords was a bad card and so did one of my querents, until I learned that the card meant the ultimate end of the situation & in the card, we see a figure laying on the ground with 10 swords in his back/spine. He's dead right? But a bright sun pierces the darkness of the blackest night letting you know that a new beginning and a new day is dawning letting you kno…

Hey dear community! Even though I have been reading for several years- I am still searching for a better way to attune to the energy of far away querents! So far I haven't found anything that noticeably increase my accuracy. While I know these things are individual- I would LOVE to hear your rituals/methods/tricks. to perhaps get inspired and try some of the ideas if possible CHeers!

I was wondering HOW you pick your cards for a spread. I always shuffle like with playing cards. While doing that I think of the question or situation.I try to imagine the personsame involved and feel the situation that they are dealing with in the present. Then I cut the cards in half.I hold the deck in my one hand and with the other I kind of open them like a fan and feel them.with my fingers and my eyes closed .while picking the card I say what position it for.ex.this is for current situation or risk is for what she is scared of ect I've seeing many videos on YouTube that he parts aren't picked out but instead after halfing the deck they just open the cards one by one…

I was reading a good article at Llewllyn by Susie Change (of Fortune's Wheelhouse podcasts and book Tarot Correspondences). It reminded me a bit of the Tarot Word Game thread we have here, where a word is sometimes a specific activity, and the next person picks a card to represent that. Here's an excerpt: I enjoyed the article and did a version of a reverse draw, going through and selecting the images that most represented how I was feeling at that moment. I was bit grumpy then, so they weren't the cheeriest. >:D But it was still a fun exercise. Then I drew a random card to contemplate. At the end of the article, I noticed her new course called Living Tarot.…

I have met a new friend who is into different things such as tarot. I did her first reading on her and she seemed to love it. We have decided to work on our spirituality and work on developing our gifts. I want to gift her a tarot deck. I want to get her the raider wait one so she can learn the symbolism. I don’t get payed for another couple weeks. Can I let her use my deck until I get hers?? As long as I cleanse it and she does when she uses it? I have other decks that I currently use. I have no idea if this is the best place for this question? I bought my deck of cards for myself to contact someone in spirit and whilst the tarot overall seems to be a method of contacting your higher self it still seems to be the best way to do this. I've been reading my cards for all of a week and I'm quite happy with the interpretations I've made from the energies that I feel as I do it. Sometimes I don't even need a question, the overall energy makes cards pop out as a I shuffle that give me answers before I start and I generally use between 1 and 3 cards max. However, as I've gone on I do get cards in reverse, which would (if I didn't ignore them as a ra…

I'm curious (story of my life admittedly...that's the Page in me coming out!). I did an experimental reading for my three mice (something I've never done before) and was surprised with the results. You can read about it in my journal if you're super curious (like me), but long story short, I asked 'what do I need to know about <insert name here>' and in each case got a surprisingly accurate description of their character as I've seen it thus far! So I'm curious. Do any of you read for your pets? What do you read about? Do you have any specific spreads you like to use? Do you find you have to change the meanings of the cards? Do you use a specific …

I've just discovered that one of my decks has a card missing - the Eight of Swords. What should I do? It's a deck that I like a lot and use regularly. I've no idea where the card could be. I take decks away from home sometimes so I can do daily draws while travelling so it may be it fell under a hotel bed somewhere 😞 Or it may be lurking in a dusty corner at home... Should I still read with it? What are the issues with reading with an incomplete deck?

Hey all, I’ve been reflecting lately on how the Major Arcana can be read as a symbolic journey — not just a sequence of cards, but a narrative arc. The Fool’s Journey is often described this way: a soul’s evolution through encounters, from innocence to wisdom. Personally, I like to tell the story in three phases: Awakening — where the Fool leaps into life and begins forming identity through will, desire, and structure (Cards 0–VII: The Fool, Magician, High Priestess, Empress, Emperor, Hierophant, Lovers, Chariot) Surrender — where the Fool turns inward, confronting emotion, solitude, and transformation (Cards VIII–XIV: St…

I have seen the expression "Waite type tarot deck", but I have never seen a definition. I would guess it's a 78-card non-pip deck, but is it stricter than that? Would the Mystical Cats Tarot or Transparent Tarot, for example, be Waite type? Does it need to have wands/swords/cups/pentacles and/or page/knight/queen/king? Do definitions need to match Waite's "Pictorial Key"? What general categories do you use to describe your Tarot decks?

I’m new to Tarot Reading, but my road to reading has not been straightforward. I’m super practical, very sceptical, and not inclined to much that’s rather “alternative”... but I have also inherited my family’s kenning, and it’s been something I’ve kind of hidden from everyone because my immediate family don’t believe in that all. I got a pack of Tarot cards recently to help channel my kenning, and it’s helped. I’ve been getting really strong readings since I started, and they all make perfect sense. Like, my cards read me the riot act, harsh truths, but they’re honest - a lot like me, really, and I appreciate the advice. However, because of my sceptical side, there’s b…

Hey there! I have been thinking about this for some time now and as I'm new to the forums I'm wondering what you think about it. Do you prefer your tarot decks to be full of symbolism, or do you prefer them to have more of a simple or abstract style? And how does this preference affect your reading style? If you prefer more symbols in your cards, do you utilize them all in a reading? Does it help or hinder your intuition? And if you are more for the simple images, do you find that your readings can still be profound? I have yet to settle down on this. I always thought I would go for the complex symbolism because I love reading about spirituality, religions, symbols …

Just performed a career spread, with the final outcome being the Hanged Man, and realized that the 9 of cups was left in the box. I indeed felt that something was missing in this spread as the results were not making sense completely. When I realized that the card was missing I performed the spread again with the ace of cups in the final outcome (celtic cross). The second spread with all the cards working as a family was completely different. Do you have similar experiences? What would you do if one card was missing without knowing?

I recently came across the Word document for a "LWB" I'd started writing for Tarocchi dei Celti, a majors-only deck with artwork by Antonio Lupatelli published by Lo Scarabeo in 1991 that only came with an Italian LWB (didn't have the benefit of Google Translate back then, although having now done that for a few of the cards it may not have been any great loss). My LWB must have been started at least 20 years ago and been slumbering in the depths of my computer files ever since. It's not so little either - for each card I'd written a detailed description of the card, then started research into the Irish mythology of the character portrayed, then the Celtic symbolism of th…

Hi all—this is my first post so please forgive me if I’ve posted this in the wrong place or inadvertently have breached forum etiquette. I’m just wondering if anyone has a deck that overwhelms them? I have three decks —Forest of Enchantment is my daily deck, the classic RW is what I use for learning and when I need to give FoE a break, and then I have the Dark Goddess deck. I got the DG because I’m working through some issues around becoming an olde woman and I was drawn to this deck. It is beautiful, powerful, and I love it. But it overwhelms me. When I last used it I started having dreams that weren’t necessarily “bad” or even “disturbing” but they sort of…

I found this quote last night by Dr. Wayne Dyer ~ "You create your thoughts, your thoughts create your intentions, and your intentions create your reality." On the table of The Magician's card are the wand (passion), cup (emotions), sword (thoughts) & pentacle (the physical realm). My uneducated mind tells me yes, The Magician card points to that we are the creators of our reality and even being so the very 1st card of the Major Arcana. But I really don't know. Or is the above quote just another example of new age gaslighting? Or is there something to it. Can our thoughts create things? Is this what the tarot…
