Does anyone who reads the Mary El - using and understanding all/most of the esoteric symbols and layers - have a recommendation on where to start deciphering it all? Marie White provides a decent bibliography in the back of the guidebook but I expect some positions are more illuminating than others. Like probably the selected poems of Rumi won't give me as much as "The Chemical Wedding" by Bruce Dickinson. Maybe you have your own suggestions for the most impactful book or area of study to start with? It doesn't have to be from her list. (Sorry, if there was a previous thread like this I couldn't find it, mods feel free to move this?)

Hello! In August, I bought this deck but didn’t open it right away. Now I find the quality to be questionable. The most obvious issue is the unevenly cut corners, which make the cards stick together. Another problem is what I perceive as sloppy colouring. On some cards, it’s more annoying than on others. I’ll attach what I think is the worst example. Am I being too picky? Would this bother you?

I'm really liking my journey into the Tarot de Marseille using a Nicolas Conver deck and Yoav Ben-Dov's The Marseille Tarot Revealed. It has been difficult and rewarding so far. While researching more about pips, I landed on another tarot tradition that I was unaware of: Etteilla. Unlike the handful of highly-recommended TdM books to get started with, and countless decks to pick from, approaching the Etteilla tradition seems like trying to hug a hedgehog. There's barely anything in English and what does exist is scattered among haphazard translations, blogs, and YouTube videos. After hours of researching, I've come to the following items: On the Tarot …

I just got my Sola Busca Tarot deck yesterday and I can’t believe how much I love it. I wanted to share it with you all. For anyone who may not know much about this deck, it is the first/oldest full 78-card tarot deck that also has all illustrated cards featuring figures and not just symbols. Here is the Wikipedia page for those who want to read more. These cards take me to the past in Renaissance Italy, 1490/1491 (when this deck was finished). Holding them makes me feel connected to the people who held the original cards in their hands hundreds of years ago. The artwork is stunning and intense. I will definitely be keeping this deck in my private collection.

I saw the counterfeit decks thread and @DanielJUK was kind enough to enlighten me on a few of the shady places that are known to sell counterfeit decks so I wanted to start a thread where we can all share legitimate sites to purchase legitimate tarot decks (also DanielJUK’s idea). I’ll start: The U.S. Games website http://usgamesinc.com Llewellyn http://llewellyn.com Tarot Arts (also sells self-published decks) https://tarotarts.com/

Do YOU have a perfect deck? Do you believe such a thing even exists? Over the years I've seen various newbies or even not so newbies in search of The Perfect Deck. A hero's journey like Arthur's quest for the Grail. I feel sympathy for beginners in this day and age. They might experience pressure to find The Perfect Deck to start reading. In my time, no such pressure existed. There was the plaid-back RWS. Full stop. Yes, historically there *were* other decks out there in the 1970s. TdM. Thoth. IJJ Swiss, but a newbie in USA wouldn't know these existed. Morgan Greer released in 1979, but as a newbie you wouldn't necessarily know to look for it.…

Just wondering if anybody here uses the Tarot of Mystical Moments, by Catrin Welz-Stein. I have been tempted by this deck many times, but am not sure that I would be able to use it in readings because the images are so strange. Beautiful, but strange. I have looked at the flip-through offerings on YouTube many times and am still not sure. I actually find the Minor Arcana cards more readable than the Majors, which is not the way this usually goes for me! I think what I need is a review of the deck. I see it's listed in our Deck Library, but there is no review. Is there anybody here who uses the deck and is willing to share their opinion of it as a reading d…

I bought this deck by Barbra Moore (author) and Jessica Roux (artist) in a Llewellyn sale a couple of months ago, but I only just tonight got around to entering it into my spreadsheet, which meant taking a GOOD 👀 at it. How interesting that there are TdM touches added to what's basically RWS imagery! The cards are a little thin for my taste, but they are borderless. The strangest thing to me is that they gilded the pages of the book. I have NEVER had to crack a book before, only decks! I literally have had to separate more than one page from its preceding and/or following page. Bizarre that they didn't test that out before doing it to all of the books! I'm com…

Hello All 😁👋 I was wondering how on earth you choose which pack of cards to buy. there are so many out there to choose from all beautifully designed too. I am guessing a lot of it is to do with personal taste etc but for a beginner who is just learning about the basics of the cards decks & history this has got me stumped 🤔 any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks 🙏

Political discussion is strictly forbidden on this site, so I intend this as a philosophical commentary or discussion if others chime in. Tarocchi came from Renaissance Italy and in those early cards we see light skin and blond hair often depicted. The Northern Italians were generally lighter than the darker skin and hair in South Italy. Was it political / status at all? I have no idea. These were the noble families of Northern Italy. I don't know if the artists painted them lighter for status or if they really were blond with light skin. RWS came along in the 1900s and although the Occult revival gave serious credence to the spirituality of India …

I have a deck that I traded for at a conference last year, but I only have the deck itself in a little bag, no box, no LWB. I know I saw it more than once on AT but for the life of me I can't remember what the name was. Each card (barring the Aces, I think) has both an upright and a reversed picture on it, with contrasting images. The art is rather modern and ethereal at the same time. Sorry I can't post pictures (I don't know how to download them). They're rather heavy on the red or blue backgrounds, and there are a lot of floating squares. Thanks!

Hi! I was wondering if anyone has any advice on procuring individual tarot card replacements, specifically that deliver to Ireland. I recently put three tarot cards through the wash 😞 after leaving them under my pillow (one was the Wheel of Fortune, which feels a bit on the nose) and am desperately trying to get replacements! I've asked at Dervish, a crystal/holistic shop in Dublin, but they weren't sure. I've also gone to the creator's website, but she doesn't handle the sale of the decks anymore. Someone on the forum had the same problem a few years ago and managed to get replacements delivered from US Games to the UK. I checked that out, but th…

I have affection and appreciation for P.C. "pixie" Smith; the lovely picture of her included in the Centennial deck box is framed in my reading room. With that said, however, I never have up to this point been fond of the RWS deck art. Tried to use it many times, always ephemeral attempts due to disinterest. The Thoth was my first deck, an immediate attraction that remains to this day. Yet I've always been a bit fascinated by the incredible contribution Smith made toward the evolution and understanding of the tarot system. I've been listening to 78 Degrees of Wisdom on the way to work, and have been pretty captivated by the background. …

Publisher Liminal 11 has some decks in mass market sales (Modern Witch, Seed & Sickle, etc.), but they also have limited editions that are only available through their site. If you're thinking of ordering one of those, you may want to consider ordering well in advance of when you need it if you're outside the UK (Shipping within the UK is handled separately, and I have no experience with it). Their facebook and Instagram show comments from people asking for someone to please answer their emails or let them know when they'll receive their order. For me, emails got a reply after one week, and items shipped out a little over a month after I ordere…

Meleen just completed a few years of work on Telos Tarot of 777 and will be doing a kickstarter soon. There's more info at https://telostarot.com/ Live now -- adding the kickstarter video: I post a lot 😅 about how much I'm a huge fan of Meleen's hand drawn art and knowledge of tarot. Tabula Mundi changed my tarot life. So I definitely wanted to get the word about about the new deck, now that it's finished. 🙂 This one is, "hand painted with acrylic, ink, and colored pencil." And is intimately related to the astrological correspondences used by the Thoth and RWS, like Tabula Mundi was, but this time based on 777 and the images there…

Apparently this decks been around for a while but I wasn't aware of it. I love The nostalgia of this deck, being a Baby Boomer. Its anyone using it? It so how do you like reading reading wth it. I just purchased it and did a Dewitt interview on it. I four court cards.in the 4 card reading. Two Cups. One Pentacles, and one Swords. Two setting and two make cards. So it works seem that deck will with deal with relationship issues--the two cup cards seem to mean it is good with love/ emotional issues. Anyone else used the cards and have any thoughts or just impressions. https://a.co/d/efwux8R

Meds, if this is in the wrong location ... please feel free to move it. Randomly, I've been using my Daniloff LeNormand for DotW. For some reason ... the Algorythm randomly fed me a LeNormand deck on Amazon ... which is a FAKE Daniloff deck. Alexander Daniloff is a wonderful artist. Please do NOT steal money from him by purchasing knock-off decks. The deck is on USA Amazon sold by "Axfbim". Pretty much any time you see a vendor name like that ... it's not legit. I really HATE seeing my favorite decks and favorite artists knocked-off. The legit decks are sold through his website. I've reported the issue to Amazon ... hopefully…
