So for anyone who's looking to work with the cards today on Eclipse day I thought this could be a great spread to work with! This is a linear 3-card spread, laid out 1-2-3. I created this spread in thinking about themes related to spring and Beltane, although it can be used any time of year. But what was really fun about this to me is I based it on lyrics to a Led Zeppelin song! This is a spread I had come up with a few years ago when I wanted to combine the 3-card "Mind - Body - Spirit" with the 3-card "Past - Present - Future" spreads. It gives a way for you to look at how things have changed for you, and where you're going. I have a really hard time expressing myself. I get an idea, but it becomes all jumbled up when I try to put it into words. Most of you know that I'm not a fan of 3-card readings since I think they take too narrow a slice of the deck and tell too shallow a story. If I use them, I prefer to extract the cards from a larger population of drawn cards using some kind of a "pointer." In this case I'm relying on the nominal "facing" of the figures or landscape features on the cards in each of three positions to determine which of them to read in the columns. I came up with this spread based on a seasonal reflection writing workshop I took last week. I can’t take any credit for the idea, because I just put together some of the writing prompt questions given to us by the workshop leader, Randon Billings Noble, and turned them into a tarot spread. I found these questions so powerful to reflect on and write about, and I think they will work well in the context of a tarot reading as well.
