Hello! This new section of the forum is for deep and detailed discussion of Lenormand cards, either individually or as a two-card combination. This is the ideal place to discuss the differences in card order too. For example, a comparison between how one might interpret RIDER + MOON, vs MOON + RIDER. Higher-level analysis of multiple cards at once, for example all of the Club pips, all of the Heart pips, etc., are best suited to the main Lenormand section. We hope that, in time, this section will grow to become an excellent archive for Lenormand card meanings and how we understand them as readers. Please feel free to …

I've been thinking about the meaning of this card since I've started with Lenormand, which is only before 6 months, I was wondering if it's more like Death in Tarot which has a real but also abstract meaning or if it is about a more pragmatic, actual and permanent end. So far my experience with Coffin was more like a strong or weak transformation, not so permanent, in general a change, etc Coffin + House, Scythe was around - change of mind from ending a house contract into making another deal, Clouds + Coffin - end of partnership, Ring + Coffin - a change in a friendship, but was not a big deal and drama didn't last long In a relationship reading I d…

Happy New Year everybody! with most us of in lockdown 🙂 SO, I've been having the Child card coming for some months now and trying to decode its message, I interpreted it as my new business we had started along with my partner lately. The last 2 months It comes in my weekly draws and it comes very often with the Snake. I didn't understand the meaning to be honest because I didn;t have any tricks around my new occupation or in general with children etc, I am childless by the way. Today I broke up with my boyfriend and turned the cards about what's coming between us, the first 2 cards is the Snake and Child with a significator the Ring, they came on th…

Clouds is a problematic card in Lenormand. That's obvious. However, it brings about extra complications to me, sometimes. In these occasions, this card appears in my readings as if showing the outcome is uncertain, that I won't get a clear answer or my view is blocked and any prediction cannot be seen clearly. It acts as if the cards were saying: stop inquiring for the time being. It mostly happens this way when I'm reading a line of five and it falls on the last position. Am I doing anything wrong?

This card always confuses me. As much as I have read in books and the internet, Lily is all about age, maturity, wisdom (which comes with experience as we age) but also sex, family, virtue, purification and celibacy (purity aspect). Now according to Andy's book, Tower is about old age & maturity while the rest of the books and sources consider lily as old age/maturity. What is your personal & real life experiences when it comes to Lily and which of meanings fits the most according to you? It will help me learn more about it and hopefully, clear out the confusion. Thank you. 😊

In the process of getting more interested in the Lenormand system these days, I was looking at quite a lot of decks. As I understand it so far, the actual images don't really matter that much, since the reading is based on the symbol and the meanings it does carry - but there are some aspects, especially direction, that do seem to matter. Where do the Gentleman and Lady face, which direction does the Rider move, what side of the Coffin is covered, where does the blade of the Scythe point... and which side of the Clouds is darker and which is lighter. Looking at the two historic decks I now have - the Brepols pattern in a Dutch language Carta Mundi edition, an…

I have decided the Moon is my "work" card, as well as indicating recognition and personal success. However, I am interested in what else the Moon represents. I recently purchased Rana George's book, which for the most part I'm finding very comprehensive. However, her description of the Moon card seems to resemble a few meanings pertinent to a Tarot card, in as far as intuition, dreams, etc, etc. I'm a bit confused, wondering if these are traditional meanings, or ones that have been personally adopted. My apologies if this has been answered somewhere. I thought I read a post about the Moon but can't for the life of me find it.

I know that the Bear can, on some occasions, represent a woman - such as a mother or grandmother. Can the Bear also represent a man? And if so, in what sort of circumstances?

BASIC CORE MEANINGS German Traditional – Lenormand Meanings 01 The Rider: Message, news, something or someone incoming. 02 The Clover: Good luck, small luck. An opportunity. Happiness. 03 The Ship: travel, distance, trade or commerce. Can show leaving something behind. 04 The House: home, family, property. 05 The Tree: health, deep rooted, long-standing, karmic (but positive). 06 The Clouds: confusion, anxiety, lack of clarity. 07 The Snake: a woman; intelligence, detour, backstabbing. Context is important. 08 The Coffin: illness or ending. (First in pair, I tend to see illness; second in pair, end). 09 The Flowers (Bouquet): gift, surprise…

The Clover Card Number: 2 Energy: Positive Playing Card: 6 of Diamonds Questions to consider: How easy is it to find a Four-Leaf Clover? How long do they bloom for? ************************* Welcome Back! Today we are talking about the Clover, one of my favorite cards to get in a reading! The Clover is a very positive card, it brings success, happiness, and of course, good luck. It brightens any reading it is in, and, depending on the surrounding cards, can lessen the blow of more negative cards. This is a card that can also be position reliant. Some cards meanings change depending on where they fall in a reading. For instance, Coffin is a negative card. If …

Hello Lenormand readers out there! I am just getting started on this wonderfully different system (from my Tarot perspective), and I am really fascinated by it. I downloaded the Treppner course and bought Andy Boroveshengra's book and installed the Dondorf app on my ipad, so I have a pretty good base for the moment I feel. When looking at decks, a question came to mind. If there are second Man or Woman cards in a deck, to read for gay or queer folks, they often seem to be a duplicate of the first Man or Woman card, sometimes facing the other direction, sometimes exactly the same, but in many cases with the same numbering and the same playing card …

I saw a person interpret the fish as a soulmate in a relationship reading. Does anyone here do that, if so why? I also saw the anchor being interpreted as an open relationship. I'm trying to understand why cause it's not logical to me. I would love your thoughts on this!

So, some days ago I had a client for a reading and through her reading she told me that she was wondering if the ex of her partner has made a spell or something onto their relationship cause the ex is into witchcraft etc. and it reminded me the older card readers we have where I come from. In the past we were always told if we had spells on us from someone in a card reading and if you find a reader here who follows the local tradition of the occult arts they will tell you, you don't find this anymore in modern readers and myself I haven't ever learn in Tarot a way to spot spells. SO I was wondering if there are any cards or any card combos in Lenorma…

Hi! I would love it if we all could talk a bit, and start a list, about the purpose all the cards have. What they do (deal with the surrounding circumstances in their own unique ways) For example: Whip- Its purpose is to correct and revise Flowers - Its purpose is to arrange agreements Fish - Its purpose is to "lubricate", facilitating exchanges. Snake - Induces/seduces What do you think?

Hello everyone 🙂 I am just beggining to try learning Lenormand. I am reading the Treppner course and also Lenormand thirty six cards (or as you sometimes call it here, Andy's book). I haven't finished either, so I still have several questions. I have been doing 3 cards and 5 cards readings, and I'm still not sure if I am doing it well, though often the reading seems to make sense. Then I got "bold" and decided to try a GT. I decided beforehand that whatever I got from it, I wouldn't take it too seriously. I mean, I am very much a baby when it comes to Lenormand and I don't want to be scared or intimidated by a wrong reading. Of course, I'm approac…

I am still very new to Lenormand and am probably overlooking something. I have no idea what to do with these cards when they show up in a spread. I have read that they are supposed to signify the querent or someone in the querent's life, but I am having trouble getting past the binary genderedness. All of the other cards have keywords I can work with like strength and message, but if these two have useful keywords, I have not figured them out, so when these cards are in combinations, I can't read them. For example, I pulled the cards fish-key-man, which looks like a man is the key to my prosperity, and that's just insulting, so I really hope I'm misunderstand…

Could the Paths & Clover represent going camping? Or a trip in the country? What do you think about this combo?

Lets talk a bit about the Garden please, I am having a difficulty to understand this card, From what I read and have experienced till now, is about public spaces, communities, social networks, gatherings, places where you gather people physically or digitally, also from my readings I understand that it has to do in general with social environments and that it is a card that is a bit neutral until it is modified but other cards. I find it difficult though to read it in some context because we don't always ask for something that is relative to the social environment. What if is a relationship issue, or a money issue? Also, could the Gard…

Should one take into account the facing direction of the main significators? I seem to remember that this is only relevant in Kipper but can't access my other books because they are all packed. If the Man has his back turned and is facing away into the distance to the right of a card, should extra weight be placed on this? Or should one simply read the combo as it is?

Most texts give the meaning that Mice + Mountain = long-term anxieties or long-term stress and losses. Sutton says specifically something along the lines of the mice don't eat the mountain to mean that the double-negative of these two cards remains negatiive. Yet Treppner gives this combination as: Obstacles dissolve. I recently had Mice + Mountain appear in a daily draw where it applied to 2 different situations [one financial, one personal]. In the financial situation, the obstacles dissolved. In the personal, not so much. BOTH were true. Hmmm. I don't know what to make of this.

I've just started an exercise, going through each card, writing down what they could mean. I wondered if Rider could represent a police officer. I confess this is due to the image on the card reminding me of the recent mounted police involved in protests here in Australia, which is tarotising somewhat. If not the Rider, who would you use to represent a police officer?

Do the Stars represent electricity and if so, why? What's the reasoning behind it? Has anyone had any personal association with this meaning in the cards?
