VGimlet Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 (edited) I'm in this week with the Circle of Life Tarot because I didn't use it my minimum of 4 days this week. (I only read tarot 3 times, so I'll be doing another week.) And sorry guys, usually I start this thread on Thursday, but I'm so burned out from work I basically just vegged from when I got off work Thursday at 8 pm until just now. I'm taking 3 weeks off starting the 23rd, my first vacation days this year. And I am counting down the hours, almost, lol. I am fried. Edited October 10, 2020 by VGimlet
Bodhiseed Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 VG, we just appreciate you starting a new thread each week, whenever you can. Hope the next few days fly by so you can relax during your vacation! I'm in this week with the Morgan-Greer Tarot paired with a combination of the Gods and Titans with the Goddesses and Sirens Oracles.
Gardener Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Hey VGimlet, I want to second Bodhiseed's appreciation for how awesome you are to post this thread every week. It's a lovely little place to come and geek out over new decks. So kind of you to keep us going! I'm sorry work is utterly sucking you dry. Two weeks until vacation! You can do it! Two measly little weeks. And then you have three huge entire long blissful weeks of VACATION. Are you going anywhere? Do you have plans? I hope you have a wonderful time, and feel refreshed and happy. So glad for you to have time off. I want to live vicariously through you. I'm still on with the Tarot of Sweet Twilight. Due to general disorganization, I have not yet started the October 31 day deck challenge from The Fee Lion, so I'll have to get going with that soonest. I can do what Fee did, and match up a whole passel of cards on a single day. Maybe tomorrow... Bodhiseed - I'm looking forward to your postings - you always have oracle decks I've never heard of. I still don't know how to use oracles, but it's fun watching you!

Amberjune Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Thank you for the new thread, @VGimlet and may the next two weeks pass quickly, and the following three be filled with many relaxing, replenishing and joyful hours for you so that your batteries are fully charged and overflowing 🙂 This week I'll be using the Shimmering Veil Tarot by Cilla Conway and the Illuminated Earth Oracle by Claire Mack. Happy readings!

But I'm doing NaNoWriMo as usual, and it will be nice to have 2 weeks to devote to it when I'm not trying to juggle work and home. I'm so looking forward to my time.
Madame Squee Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Thank you for the thread, VG! I am so glad you have a nice break coming right up! This week, I'm in with playing cards. I'm trying a new divination system developed by Stephen Ball. His book is Playing Card Divination: Every Card Tells A Story, ©️2020 by Stephen Ball, Llewellyn Publications. Basically, Mr. Ball has written a fairly elaborate and memorable story for each card. The stories are based on the themes assigned to each suit and the mythic roles assigned to each number. I've never done roleplaying games, but this seems like it might be something like that. He definitely brings the cards to life! I actually purchased the physical book and the Kindle version for my iPad -- so I could get started right away. I just don't have any time to waste. Lol. We shall see how it goes!
Bodhiseed Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 @Madame Squee, Ball's book looks like fun! I'll be interested to hear more about it and your readings.
Bodhiseed Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 This week I'll be using the Morgan Greer Tarot, created by Bill Greer and Lloyd Morgan and published by U.S. Games. I'll also be using an oracle made of a combination of two decks - the Gods and Titans along with the Goddesses and Sirens. Both of these were created by Stacey Demarco and Jimmy Manton and published by Blue Angel. Today's card draws are the Ace of Staves and Loki: I am convinced that we humans do better when we have something to ground us, a deep source from which we can draw wisdom, insight, and inspiration. ― Lawrence Levy (former Pixar CEO) Inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do something, especially to do something creative. Read the work of poets and it is often easy to see what inspires them by the threads that run through their work. For Mary Oliver, it was Nature; for Langston Hughes, it was social injustice; and for Jane Hirshfield, everyday events became moments for reflection. But nothing gets done until we grasp that stave and run with it. Loki, a trickster god from the Norse pantheon, is a reminder to keep our sense of humor and to take things lightly. Approaching something with stoic seriousness and rigid expectations will make our inspirations turn into dry corn husks. A creative mind is a playful mind.
vulprix Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) @Bodhiseed I love that draw! What a great read to start the week 🤩 I’m reading with the Numinous Tarot this time around! (Why not edit instead of double-post? Here is some Numinous Tarot eye candy. I adore this deck.) Edited October 12, 2020 by vulprix
Madame Squee Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 (edited) Re: Playing Card Divination: Every Card Tells A Story, ©️2020 by Stephen Ball, Llewellyn Publications. On Saturday, my first personal 2-card reading under this system turned up the Queen of Hearts and the Queen of Spades. (Queens = Luck, Hearts = Triumph, Spades = Folly.) My take: don't press your luck. That's actually a good reading for me every day. I should frame it. Sunday's reading turned up the 4 of Hearts and 4 of Diamonds. (Fours = Smiths/Blacksmiths, Hearts = Triumph, Diamonds = Gambit.) Since the 4's are about work, my interpretation was that making changes to a project already completed will be successful. And so it transpired before the end of the day with DH and me enclosing this summer's bed of hens and chicks in a "cage" of grids to prevent them all being eaten by a certain squirrel. Bonus: rat terrier can no longer hunt and eat the crickets from amongst the rocks. (It was terrifying.) The more time I spend reading and absorbing the book, the better I like Stephen Ball's system. However, it will be awhile before I can dispense with the book. (Old dog, new tricks.) Edited October 15, 2020 by Madame Squee
Bodhiseed Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 @Madame Squee I was looking for the fluffy and feathered hens and chicks - took me a minute to figure out you were talking about succulents. 🤣
vulprix Posted October 16, 2020 Posted October 16, 2020 Hi everyone! Happy end of the week! I pulled some cards to help me decide which book to read next—what I could expect from each. I took each card to mean as follows: Eight of Bells (Swords) - I will have trouble finishing this book because of my own walls I have put up around my past experience with the author distracting me. (I did read the first page and am excited to try the book, though!) Four of Bells (Swords) - I should wait to pick this one up, but when I do, it will be satisfying. The Numinous - The most intriguing of all, as it’s the extra major arcana card in this deck! But it is reversed—I took this to mean that this would be the winner for now, but that it may become foggy and I may not necessarily finish it. I would be very down to hear different takes! 🙂 I do not much enjoy reading with reversals, but I have read them well with this deck for more important inquiries in the past.
