VGimlet Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) Oops, must have been slow posting the first one...or brain fog...lol Edited June 6, 2021 by VGimlet
Amberjune Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 thank you for the new thread, VG! I'll be working with the Animal Woman Tarot (a new favorite) and the Sacred Sites oracle cards (an old favorite). Happy week to all of you.
vulprix Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Hi all!! I will be using my newly acquired Brady Tarot!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Way too excited about this deck!)
Amberjune Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 @vulprix The art in the Brady is just stunning, the coloration is breathtaking. I'm very fond of the deck, also because the Kickstarter for it (both editions) was really great imo. Very impressed with Emi Brady. Hope you'll have a fun time getting to know it!
Mi-Shell Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 I had a rather strange find - in a box - while cleaning out one of our outside storage spaces. among other things, given to me by the family of one of my clients, who passed on, also were a few Tarot decks........ one of them I did not know, what it was See here: Now, I will make this deck my DotW ♥
Bodhiseed Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 I'm in this week with the Da Vinci Enigma Tarot paired with the Insectorum Divinorum. Hope all of the DoWers have a great weekend!

AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 Druidcraft for me VG. This deck has lost some of it's shine for me with the direction the Carr-Gomms are going so I'm making myself get it out and use it.
Bodhiseed Posted June 6, 2021 Posted June 6, 2021 This week I'll be using the Da Vinci Enigma Tarot, created by Caitlin Matthews and published by Connections. Along with it, I'll be drawing from a self-published oracle created by Esmeralda Rupp-Spangle called the Insectorum Divinorum. Today's cards are the Ten of Air (Swords) and the Nightcrawler: Dimmi: What do you have to relinquish? Da Vinci's sketch shows a hanged assassin; though he managed to murder his target, things did not turn out the way he imagined. We all have our pet opinions and viewpoints that we guard ferociously and grasp tightly. Even when presented with facts that debunk our ideas, we rarely relinquish them. Often only hitting rock bottom makes us question our perspective. The Nightcrawler is an earthworm that provides natural aeration of soil, allowing water and oxygen to penetrate more easily into the ground. It suggests that perhaps we should prop open the door of our mind, allowing the fresh air of a more panoramic view. Renunciation, though often understood to mean “giving up,” is, more accurately, the willingness to experience things as they are, not as we want them to be. —Ken McLeod

Mi-Shell Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 @AJ-ish/Sharyn @VGimlet Yes, it is a cool deck- with more of an Oracle feel, as the individual cards IMAGES are not readily recognizable as Tarot. So to find out, what card I am looking at, I HAVE to read all the wording. usually I am not keen on decks like that, but what interests me here is, that this wording shows me - - one step further evolved than the regular Tarot meanings...... Bad wording by me, but it is a bit difficult to explain.... But someone that is reallllly good at explaining things is Bennebell Wen! She did a magnificent and very detailed review of these cards a few years back and it is AREAL TREAT to read this and so get introduced to this Taroracle ;0 https://benebellwen.com/2015/08/10/guardians-of-wisdom-universal-power-cards-a-review/
Madame Squee Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 @VGimlet Thank you for the thread! 🌻🌻🌻 I'm in with "Create Your Own Tarot Deck" (Sirius Publishing) and the Oracles of Oddities (Claire Goodchild). I've started coloring tarot decks before but always grew so critical of my efforts that I wouldn't finish them. This time, I'm feeling better prepared to have fun and committing myself to making no mistakes, just having happy accidents. 🌲🌲🌲
Bodhiseed Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 @Madame Squee, I bet even your happy accidents will be lovely. 😄 (Love Bob Ross!)
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 One of the ways I've kept myself out of the black abyss is watching Bob Ross shows on youtube. I am making a deck (not tarot) of collage cards and recently made a Bob Ross card for my Council suit This is what I wrote in my blog journal. There will be more over time. Happy Little Trees, what can I say. He began painting while stationed in Alaska as a young man. His entire series is available on youtube and his family has stores licensed to his name brand paints and tools. He used three unusual brushes and favored a wide fan. I never picked up a brush but due to his influence I always felt I could. His enthusiasm was contagious!

Bodhiseed Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Love that collage card, @AJ-ish/Sharyn! Bob Ross is more soothing than a soak in a hot tub of bubbles. I didn't know much about his history until recently. He said after being in military positions that required him to act tough and mean, he decided he would not raise his voice when he left the military. What an impact he had, in more ways than just painting.
vulprix Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 I have been getting to know the Brady Tarot through daily draws of two cards. I have not really done daily draws for years, but they have proved useful to get to know this deck in particular. The Brady Tarot is extremely dense and really packs a lot of the North American animal kingdom into it. Today I drew the 2 of Roots (Disks)—Equilibrium and the 6 of Arrows (Swords)—Passage. Equilibrium speaks of a sacrifice for one person being a benefit for another. Something new being introduced (like the invasive mimosa tree in the picture) quickly becomes a part of the balance of the environment. The 6 of Arrows card depicts an owl flying away from a lush environment due to burden—a falconer’s glove dangling from its left foot. Who thought to try and tame such a creature, with a much stronger grip than a falcon? I have been getting the 6 of Arrows card consistently ever since I got this deck last week. The deck is helping me through some heartbreak. I hope that the owl and myself can make it to another shore and shed the burden safely, and establish a new equilibrium that feels safe and works well.
Bodhiseed Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 (((@vulprix))), hang in there, it's a process. Letting go generally occurs a little at a time. That glove however brings to mind a saying for those who refuse to try: "let go or get dragged." I've been the glove, and it isn't much fun.
vulprix Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 Thank you for your kind words, @Bodhiseed. I will be trying my best.
VGimlet Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 My niece loved Bob Ross, and did a report on him for school. 🙂
Mi-Shell Posted June 11, 2021 Posted June 11, 2021 ♥ @vulprix ♥ The owl broke free from her captor. Persistent pecking will get rid of the encumbering jesses. Mushrooms speak of healing Medicine Owl in and of itself in my Siberian traditional world view is the Healer and the one who speaks true during trance and dreams and guides the shaman towards a healing/ cure that is needed. Waguish the Fox is an animal of the East, a new morning and new beginning. here he catches the rabbit of hidden fears.....

Your perspective on these cards and their noble animal (and fungi 🙂) figures is healing to read!
