GreenFaerie Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 I will let you know. :) I'm excited, but it's always so hit and miss for me, in that I never know until I feel the cards in my hands. BTW: Sorry to miss this post! I miss a lot of replies specifically to me on this site. Do you know if there is a filter for that beyond the general "replies to your posts" which are really replies to a general thread? Just curious. Maybe I'll ask Little Fang. That would be great! I would love to get another opinion. And no worries about missing the post! I am sure I have missed some, too. I try to keep track with the "replies to your posts" link, but I don't know if there is a specific filter beyond that.
Page of Ghosts Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Decided I could afford it and ordered the Sasuribito Tarot from Littleredtarot's shop. My first actual indie deck (vs indies gone commercial like my Ostara and Wild Unknown) and probably the last deck of the year.. I hope. This has been a big year for trying out new decks.
sandrang123 Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Thanks Green Faerie! RavenOfSummer Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Well I wasn't going to buy anymore tarot this year, but came across a Roots of Asia, German version and figured that was worth making an exception. So, it's on its way to me. Should be here Friday! I'm also awaiting my first ever rune set- a crystal set, fancy jasper :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bodhiseed Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Thanks to RavenOfSummer's enabling :D, I have a Wayfarer Tarot on the way, as well as A Curious Oracle to go with it. ;D
DevonCarter Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 I caved and bought the Everyday Witch tarot when I got a notice the price had dropped a bit on Amazon, so that's on the way. Still waiting on Trick or Tarot, but that should be soon!
RavenOfSummer Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Thanks to RavenOfSummer's enabling :D, I have a Wayfarer Tarot on the way, as well as A Curious Oracle to go with it. ;D Haha, yay! ;D I've been wondering about A Curious Oracle as well - excited to hear how you get on with both of these decks!

I have a Curious Oracle, and I like it! It works on a different system than anything else I've ever seen, but in a good way.
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I'm also awaiting my first ever rune set- a crystal set, fancy jasper :) You finally got your rune set! I hope you'd show them to us in your rune thread because I'm planning to get some crystal runes for myself. I'm curious as to how you use them, maintain them, store them, etc :)
Nanook Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Just received a notice from Amazon that the Spiritsong Tarot has shipped. Yay!
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 I have fallen utterly, hopelessly in love with Brian Williams' art. Just ordered the Renaissance Tarot Deck and Book Set and his Minchiate Tarot and I can't wait for them to come! From some reviews that I've read, I know that some really dislike the art in the latter, and I'm at a loss because I really really love them. Clean lines, a refined, classical style - what's not to like? I do agree that the backs could have been improved tho.

I'm also awaiting my first ever rune set- a crystal set, fancy jasper :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well I received my German Roots of Asia in nearly perfect condition...EXCEPT THAT ONE OF THE CARDS HAS WRITING ON IT [emoji35] Let me tell you I was not too happy to see that on my first flip-through of the deck! It's just one card and it's fairly unobtrusive, just an English translation of one of the German titles, so I don't think it will impact my enjoyment of the deck...STILL, the thing that bothers me is that the seller did not mention this!! And it's kind of a big deal! I still probably would have bought it since it was a good price, but how do you not disclose something like this as a seller? How upset should I be? EmpyreanKnight Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Ack, that's just too bad, RavenOfSummer. Just a question tho: are the cards glossy and well-varnished? If they are, I would try to gently erase the writing using cotton and soapy water. I dunno tho, it might just make it worse so maybe the others here have a better solution to this.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I would be upset- the writing takes an item from very good condition to use or even poor condition, at least in the book world. And it's not unusual for people to write in books- I've never heard of many people writing on card decks. Try a little rubbing alcohol- I use it to remove sharpie and permanent ink from my books/art. Go gentle at first, just to make sure the print on the cards doesn't rub off with it. Hope this is helpful

I will take a closer look and see if anything can be done. In the meantime, I think I am also going to say something to the seller. Not sure if I have much of any recourse, since I bought the deck through a Facebook trade group, rather than through eBay etc. I've bought a number of great decks through Facebook groups before and never had an issue like this. But I suppose something like this is bound to happen eventually. I did pay using PayPal, so I might have some recourse through them. But regardless I want to express myself to this seller, and I might raise it with the admin of the group as well. I think I want to keep the deck anyway, it just really bothers me that I was not told about this as a potential buyer. It's not right.

So just to update everyone, I did speak to the seller, and she seems to feel really bad about the issue. She refunded about 2/3 of what I paid for the deck. So, I do feel better about it...I'll look at whether there's anything I can do about the writing but not too optimistic. If anyone happens to come across an unwanted Roots of Asia Emperor at the "lost singles bar", please let me know :) ETA speaking of that, how would people like having a Lost and Found Singles Bar for Missing Cards thread here? I could start one :)
EmpyreanKnight Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 I've always thought of how there is a dearth of focus on the Divine Masculine in the Tarot and other decks, so for my very last purchase of the year, I ordered the Sol Invictus: The God Tarot and the Gods and Titans Oracle. They say that the Winter Solstice heralds the Eve of the Dying Sun-Gods, so I think that these decks are very much apropos. Sol Invictus, "the Invincible Sun", is said to celebrate his dies natalie on December 25. I plan to dedicate this deck on Christmas not to celebrate the demise of these solar gods, but because from this nadir they can only grow in power as the days grow longer as it takes back its kingdom from the night. After all, these gods do rise from the dead eventually, and with the waxing of their powers I can only hope that my cards would grow stronger too.
Bodhiseed Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 Raven, I'm glad she refunded part of the money! Like Gingerblue, I've used small amounts of rubbing alcohol to remove pen and sharpie, ink (but dab and blot, don't rub). I'm still waiting on the Delta Enduring Tarot; I'm hoping it will be here before Christmas!

Wow, these sound like some powerful decks to use for the winter! I had not seen the Sol Invictus before. Just looked it up- really like the art for that one. Will have to look more at that deck.

Just looked it up- really like the art for that one. Will have to look more at that deck. It's not as popular as some decks out there but as far as I know, it's not yet OOP as Schiffer still sells it at their site. At first I wasn't very enamored of the art but it has grown on me. What really captured me tho was the companion book. I've seen excerpts and whew, Huggens is quite a scholar! I can't wait to devour it.

Goddesses!! <3 I hope they finish the project and get that deck out! I do hope so! They've been working on the cards since 2008 at least and they've even released prints of some of the cards a few years back. Sadly, I think they've taken down the site dedicated to that deck (http://pistissophiatarot.com/). I don't know what happened to it but I do hope they'd eventually release the deck.
Flaxen Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 My copy of the Santa Muerte tarot arrived today. I love the aesthetic and philosophy behind the Day of the Dead and it will be perfect as my All Hallows' Eve deck next year. I also have the Sol Invictus and the companion book is amazing. The cards read very well too.
Saturn Celeste Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I really have all the decks I want at this point but I did go on a final binge after watching a few YouTube tarot reviews. I really should avoid them! I have recently received Linestrider Sirian Starseed Circle of Life Thelema (hasn't arrived yet) And while I was at it, I pre-ordered the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit Deck
