I’m looking forward to chatting with you about this one, @gregory, after yours arrives The Serpent and the Peacock tarot is VERY cool - I found it very readable and engaging.

rylla Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 Earth Magic is on way to me too. As well as the Soul Cats, Phantomwise, Magic Mystic Oracle and the 4 World tarot from etsy - I'm very curious about it (not sure if I'll like it or not) .

I am glad to hear this. The art drew me in. I haven’t tried reading with it yet, but I am receiving a nudge from a friend who wants me to read for her.

Hedera Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Waiting for the mass market edition of the Fifth Spirit tarot to arrive, should be here on Thursday hopefully! I've considered buying the indie edition many times, but never got around to it - and it looks like there have been some improvements in the new edition (though if I end up using that one a lot, I might get the indie one as well). Hay House is publishing some *very* interesting decks at the moment, and I happen to like their cardstock; it wears really well, too.
Guest Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I had the Magickal Botanical Oracle ordered from overseas. Cool thing about my fave local online shop is that there's absolutely no risk. It's Cash on Delivery, so I only get to pay for it once it arrives on my doorstep. I can also cancel anytime - their decks are very much in demand anyways and someone's bound to snap it up. I dunno if they blacklist people though. Also, it takes about a month or two for their items to arrive, but that's par for the course.

It's great how getting shot of DV seems to have raised their game. Though I don't actually like their card stock, myself. Too THICK !

I don't riffle shuffle (I use a rather cumbersome combination of hand-over-hand and taking a card from the top and the bottom until the whole deck has been 'integrated' 3 times - for decks that are still in order 5 or 7 times... at least it gives me plenty of time to ponder my question! ;)), I can imagine it would be too thick for those who do. Also, the cardstock in the first of their decks that I bought, Light Seers, seems to be slightly different from the ones that came after - although that might just be a case of different ink used, sharper or duller blades when the deck was cut, etc.
Hedera Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 .... And now, I am thrilled to be waiting for the new, beautiful edition of the Jolanda den Tredje / Swedish Witch tarot! Well, new-to-me, I think it's been out for a year or two already. 😄 I've been using my trimmed AGM copy for the #365YellowBricks project, but it is beginning to show some wear. The new one has been shipped yesterday from Sweden. 🥳 After a couple of years of barely buying one or two decks a year, I seem to have bought two already in the first week of 2023.... 😅

(It's a sickness, but it's MY sickness!) Oh, and for full disclosure, I ordered even more since my last post here. And here come the rationalizations! Love Your Body Cards: An attempt at the "body/appearance" theme oracle deck I was asking about in another thread. If it works, I'll update there. Liminal Spirits Oracle: I gave it away last year, but I really like the art. And the book. And everything! And now that I'm in full oracle mode, I need it again! Influence of the Angels Tarot: A possible replacement for the angel theme tarot I have. (Not the angel shemhamephorash decks I'm using as oracles.) Again, we'll see once I have it in hand. Gotta use up that Amazon gift card!

I have the first edition and the mass market one, still I'd like to see how the deck you just mentioned looks like. Where did you saw it? Does it come with the book in English? Or would you know where I could find the book? Thanks! Edited January 7, 2023 by rylla
gregory Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) I have a deck coming. I am tracking it by USPS. UNFORTUNATELY (man this is embarrassing) the one I THOUGHT it was arrived. And I've forgotten what else I ordered so it will be a surprise. Wait - further research suggests it MIGHT be Fortuna Tenebris... But that artist is in the UK, so maybe not... FindYourSovereignty Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 What is the Earth Magic deck mentioned here by several of you? Is this the oracle deck or is there a tarot with this title? Curious minds want to know. 😊 Thank you!

I found out about the newer edition from this video: He links to two online stores (one of them is the publisher's webshop) that sell the deck & book set, but both of them have the deck separate as well. Edit, just the deck here: https://www.paneter.se/jolanda-den-tredje-tarot-kortlek And also here: https://tarotshop.se/jolanda-den-tredje-tarot-kortlek which is where I ordered it from. Alas, the book still only in Swedish! There is talk of a translation, but there has been talk of that since the first edition, many many years ago... When AGM published their English edition, it came with a LWB that was pretty much useless, it had mostly RWS meanings in it that didn't fit the (rather Thothy) cards at all. *If* another non-Swedish publisher picks it up again, they might translate the book, but I am not holding my breath! But if you read a bit of material about the Thoth deck, and other decks that use (mostly) that system like the Haindl and the tarot of Vampyres (which has an excellent book, unillustrated so you could pretend it is for the Jolanda...), most of the symbolism makes perfect sense. This new deck has the keywords in Swedish again, like the first edition: if you do a search for 'Swedish Witch tarot' on the old Aeclectic forum, there is a translated list of keywords floating around somewhere. And, of course, the images are very vivid and easy to read as *images*! 🙂 Edited January 7, 2023 by Hedera

legendaryelement Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 I ordered several astrology books and received two decks yesterday! Fradella Adventure Tarot d/b set Tarot of the Pirates (LoS) … so much for my telling myself not to spend until after March. 😏

Guest Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 Finally received my fifth Minchiate, a Fiorentine by the Italian publisher De Vecchi. That was a long four months, but it came by ship, so I understand. Aside from a slight bump in one corner, it's in great condition. Also helped that the total shipping fee from the UK shop to my door is less than $3, so yeah I'll be ordering from my source again heh. For a minchie, it's pretty big! Here it is beside the CBD Marseille. Unfortunately, the booklet is in Italian. Thank heaven for nifty jpeg-to-text and translation softwares.
gregory Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 de Vecchi decks are always huge - no idea why !
Sar Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 I am not receiving deck in the mail and haven't for a very long time. Hmm, not really found anything I like as a working deck.
Guest Posted January 8, 2023 Posted January 8, 2023 3 hours ago, gregory said: de Vecchi decks are always huge - no idea why ! I prefer large decks since they can show much more detail. I have big hands so I have no problem with them at all. But yeah, I've read so many comments on how huge decks can be a dealbreaker since women find them hard to handle especially if they riffle shuffle. Since they're the main demographic for Tarots, I agree that a publisher keeping their decks uniformly big is a head-scratcher.
Scarlet Woodland Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 On the topic of large, unwieldy decks, I just treated myself to the Pocket Dreams of Gaia Tarot. The huge, tricky to shuffle cards of the original, put me off actually using it, so excited to get a wee, borderless version.

I was waiting too for the book in English since the 'beginning of times'. I checked from time to time but I could not find an English version anywhere . The other day I came across a blog where the bloger did a spread with the Jolanda tarot and in her interpretation of the spread she was referring to the ENGLISH version of the book! If I find somewhere that blog again I'll ask her from where she got the book and post it here. To be on the topic of this thread: I've got the Tarot of the 4 worlds; I am pleased with it and like the imaginary, its an unique and interesting deck but it is definitely not the most 'reader friendly' deck.
