Amberjune Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 My decks are the Gothmancy Tarot and the Nature's Wisdom Message cards. Wishing all a wonderful week. Weather forecast says it will be a rainy weekend, I have my books ready!
Bodhiseed Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 I'm in with the Idiosyncradeck Tarot paired with the Mixed Emotions Oracle. I can't believe this year is coming so quickly to a close! Hugs to all the DoWers, this forum and VGimlet for giving me a place to belong.
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Pagan Otherworlds Tarot for me, thank you VG
Mi-Shell Posted November 12, 2021 Posted November 12, 2021 Strange things are happening: I will use the Heart of Faerie Oracle🤨
vulprix Posted November 13, 2021 Posted November 13, 2021 Been thinking about the Gypsy Palace Tarot! Love you guys 🙂 hope you are well.
Bodhiseed Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 This week I'll be using the Idiosyncradeck Tarot, created and self-published by Jessica Bott. Along with it, I'll be drawing from the Mixed Emotions Cards, created by Petra Martin with Kris Wiltse (Illustrator) and published by Heron Lake Press. Today's draws are the Queen of Swords and Trusting: The Queen of Swords prefers truth that is grounded in the reality of hard evidence. She may come off as cool and uncaring, but she actually wants people to be able to come to grips with their life, however it may show up. Like the tree's star-shaped flowers, she shines a light on our fantasies, denials and delusions so that we can step out of them and begin acting with a purpose that can produce a beneficial result. But our fabrications and the figments of our imagination can be comforting, making it awfully hard to leave our cozy bubble. 'Trusting' brings to mind a quote by Nelson Mandela: "Problems can only be solved if one is part of a team." Finding a person or people we can trust and share our struggles with means the possibilities for a solution can become doubled or tripled. We also find the emotional support needed to deal with world rather than run from it. You won’t understand what I mean now, but someday you will: the only trick of friendship, I think, is to find people who are better than you are—not smarter, not cooler, but kinder, and more generous, and more forgiving—and then to appreciate them for what they can teach you, and to try to listen to them when they tell you something about yourself, no matter how bad—or good—it might be, and to trust them, which is the hardest thing of all. ―Hanya Yanagihara

(The Queen of Swords examined alongside a concept of trust.) Is the Hanya Yanagihara quote from one of her books?
Bodhiseed Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 @vulprix, thank you!💓 Yes, it is from "A Little Life."
vulprix Posted November 14, 2021 Posted November 14, 2021 (edited) I would not mind it if you sent a book review for A Little Life to my inbox, @Bodhiseed 🙂 That one has intrigued me for a while. Not my usual cup, but I am still interested in it for some reason! I did a reading with the Gypsy Palace Tarot today. This one is a difficult reader for me. It definitely stretches my interpretive abilities more than most other decks I have. I do love the artwork 🙂 a lot of iconic imagery in here, for me. The reading was about whether I should change my living *place.* Next year I am gearing up for a change in living situation—new roommate, new unit are on the table. And this coordination has been a lot of work with a lot of hurdles. The Chariot looks a lot like my chaotic search. My potential roommate is giving me information but is not working with me to act on it. Looks a lot like the embers rising up into the sky—a lot of potential, but not enough direction or connection. The card is showing me that I am partially at fault here, blocking some of this out; I can’t argue that! The figure who I’ve identified with has many feet, but does not seem keen to take direction. It is only the steady blue beast toward the bottom of the card that indicates any forward movement. The World card is flanked by the Chariot and the 4 of Pentacles—two different approaches to interacting with The World itself. Card XXI indicates a way to truly be in the landscape, and seems to blend the chaotic scene in The Chariot with the facey, simpler 4 of Pentacles. Maybe my potential roommate would want to live in my current abode? The 4 of Pentacles in the Gypsy Palace communicates a sense of self-empowerment through simplicity and selfishness. Staying in place would allow for me to focus on myself, perhaps? (It would almost certainly save me a lot of money.) But I am always skeptical of the 4 of Pentacles because of its miserly connotations in the RWS system. Tough read…having a hard time being objective, and I have trouble with clarity and the Gypsy Palace Tarot. (Can’t argue its inspiring powers, though!) If anyone sees something I don’t, I’m definitely open to more insights! Edited November 14, 2021 by vulprix Added picture
VGimlet Posted November 14, 2021 Author Posted November 14, 2021 Okay, caught up. Didn't realize I forgot to post my Azathoth Tarot choice in the replies. It's been a challenging month so far, lots of changes at work, plus my FIL is beginning the last transition. He lives next door, but has been in rehab for a couple weeks until we can get full time care set up in his home.
toj Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 (edited) Going old school with the Centennial Rider-Waite this week and The Faeries Oracle. The latter has given me the most spot on current and future happenings readings of any deck I have ever owned. Edited November 15, 2021 by toj
Bodhiseed Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 @vulprix, I love all the colors in the Gypsy Palace, but I see how it could be harder to read. My thoughts about the Four of Pentacles - since she is using the body to illustrate it - is perhaps it is about overtaxing your own body. Our energy can be overspent like money. 💜
AJ-ish/Sharyn Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 (((VG and family at this difficult time)))
Mi-Shell Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Dear @vulprix ♥ May I whisper into your ear, that the gesture, that the female makes on the 4 of Pentacles is a well known Gypsy "sign language/ hand signal" known among many tribes. It means something like "Man up" and "pay the Pied Piper" or "pay what is due" ♥
MoonchildEllie Posted November 15, 2021 Posted November 15, 2021 Hello everyone! This week, I think I'll be practicing with the Gentle Heart Tarot deck! I love how nicely the deck shuffles and I've been meaning to do more work with them. 😀
Bodhiseed Posted November 16, 2021 Posted November 16, 2021 Welcome @MoonchildEllie! That looks like a sweet deck!
vulprix Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 @VGimlet, I am sending the best vibes for you and yours 🙂 Your insights added a LOT to my reading, @Bodhiseed and @Mi-Shell! Wow!! Had no idea about the gesture, but this is amazing to know! I wonder how I could have learned it otherwise besides the amazing community here. Thank you 🙏
