Wyrdkiss Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 With a gesture of his hand, the stroke of a pen, the Emperor can save a life -- or take one. He holds ultimate power, and the weight of his responsibility hangs over his head. Holding the rope himself, does he realize how quickly the world can crash down upon him?

This is kind of one of my favorite Emperor cards ever. And I really love The Emperor in general so this is quite fresh to fall in love so hard with a depiction that’s new to me 🙂 Edited February 3, 2022 by vulprix
Madame Squee Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 KOTH Tarot reading… What is important to me right now? Death ~ 9 of Wands ~ The Tower I see the 9 of Wands bravely attempting to block Death, which is proven to be futile effort by the appearance of the Tower in the last card. Spot on! Too much has changed in the past two years, and I just can’t take it anymore. In the 9 of Wands, Nancy Gribble is actually fighting change, too. In this episode, she is trying to save her weather anchor job by stealing a news van to report on a wildfire. Due to her riveting presentation and indisputable bravery, her plan works out mostly the way she intended. Unfortunately, as Peggy Hill plummets to earth in the Tower, I am reminded that there will be change regardless of any efforts to stop it. However — and we’re coming full circle here — Peggy lives through the almost-certainly-fatal fall, and her father-in-law, Cotton Hill, who is pictured in the Death card, ultimately becomes instrumental in her lengthy and arduous journey to recovery, which also involves his newborn baby. I’ve got the shivers. This is a reading I need to tape to the bathroom mirror. PS: What a fabulous tarot deck!! Also, the cards have a linen finish, so beautiful to shuffle. The LWB is perfect. It contains good basic keywords and identifies the characters, so you can find the episodes and discover the back story on your own!

It's a German feminist deck based on astrology by Ulla Janaschek and artist Cambra Maria Skadé. I've had it for a good 20 years, I think. Goettinnenzyklus means Cycle of the Goddess in English. 🙂 I'm glad you love them , too @Mi-Shell! Edited February 3, 2022 by Amberjune

That's fascinating, thanks for clarifying @Amberjune. @vulprix there are a few other gems in the Somnia pack that resonate with me well too. But that's quite the accolades you have for this Emperor -- perhaps he will make an appearance in your mailbox at some point. I'm completing my assessment by saying this deck for me is a huge keeper, something to immerse in on occasion like the ebb and flow of the tides. I'll revisit it in a future Deck of the Week thread with my thoughts on the book in a few months (when I'm "allowed" to buy it sniff sniff 🙂 )

Cotton is the perfect harbinger of death! 😆 I wonder if you plan on using this deck for readings for others? If I knew someone with a KOTH tarot deck I would be begging for a reading right away.

Thank you very much for your feedback @vulprix 🌹 The KOTH Tarot is truly a remarkable deck. I haven't researched the artist yet, but they surely do know both KOTH and tarot cards very well. The match-up is seamless. I've been thinking strongly about setting up a reading thread. Thank you for the encouragement! I will @ you when I do! Today's card - The Hermit: Dale's Basement. (Seek and you will find. The truth is out there.)
vulprix Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 @Madame Squee I would be forever grateful. Also—that Hermit card!!! Okay, I’m done. I have to be. I’m just gonna accept that the whole deck is equally amazing as the cards I have seen. :]
