still unable to reply on post

I'm one of the admins here, hopefully we can sort this out!

Can you give me some more information:

- what area of the forum/what post were you trying to reply to?

- did you get any errors or warnings messages come up?

 

Feel free to use screenshots if needed to show things.

In most areas of the forum you need to have 5 posts before you can comment. It is probably that simple.

Okay, there shouldn't be many limits there.

The first one that comes to mind:

- were your replies over 5 words long?

(We have a minimum word limit of 5 words to help prevent spam!)

hi friends , sorry to be a pain but i still can't reply on post maybe its because i hav'nt done 5 posts yet ,all i get is a orange box with a few rules in .

by the way this is my 5th post so maybe it will sort it out

@mandy22 it is best to reply to the same post you created rather than making another post.  I have merged this in with your previous topic.  It sounds like what @stephanelli said in her last post:

The orange box may be suggesting you don't have enough words in your post.  If you can, screenshot it (Alt + Print Screen buttons) or Windows Screen Snip what you are seeing.  Thank you!

Hi, just wondering how you sorted this? I'm having the same issue. I started a thread in the Introduction section, and now it won't let me reply to the people who welcomed me. My attempted replies have been more than 5 words, so I'm not sure what the issue is. I got the orange box too, and it had a x next to the line about links, but I didn't have any links in my reply.

Can you share a screenshot of the orange box please?  Then it'll be easier to help you!

How do I attach a screenshot? I'm not seeing an option.  This is what's in the orange box. The little squares are ticks, except for "total links allowed" which is a cross. I'm just quoting to reply on my welcome thread.

Mmm interesting, I wonder where its finding a link...

Sometimes quotes can do interesting things.  I just looked through the thread and no-one has a link in their post (except Daniel's signature but that shouldn't be included in a quote anyway).
Perhaps try replying without the quotes.  You can tag people by typing @ and then start typing the persons name and it'll give you suggestions that you can click on to tag them.  It'll look something like this when its done: @Kliz

So, I just tried that with "Hi (tagging you) thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to chatting to more people on here." and still the same issue. So I removed the tag and it worked... And now it won't let me tag you in this reply, or quote your last reply which tags me... it's probably just an issue for me. I have a lot of IT-type issues. A psychic previously said it's spirits trying to get my attention. Rather fitting given the forum lol.

Huh, strange.

I'll ping @Little Fang so she can look into this later.  You'll soon be at 5 posts with doing this here which should make things easier around the forum!

When people first join the forum, there is a post limit of 100 words, it looks like you went over the max @Kliz in your pasted text. Could you have replied to everyone in one post and done a larger post? This limit goes at 5 posts 🥰

I tried replying individually and multiple people in the one reply and had the same issue. The only thing that worked was removing the tags to tag people. Very strange. I'm over 5 posts now so hopefully whatever the issue was, it's no longer an issue :)

i wish i could post! sometimes i get a warning that i need to be approved by a mod! sometimes the huge box shown above- i've counted my words, i have no links. i give up. how do i unsubscribe?

Where are you trying to reply or post @kat_woman? In this area, if you post it will require approval by a mod because it's open to the internet (sometimes our members get locked out and can get assistance here) and we get a lot of spam posts. When a member of forum staff can reply, they will approve the non-spam posts and help 🙂

 

Until 5 posts there are some restrictions on the forum to stop spammers posting. The reading areas are locked and there are some limits on posting. You have to post at least 10 words and max 100, no links and you cannot @ reply to someone but you can quote them. If you are having problems, what is the limits box that goes orange saying? It will tell you what is wrong in posting. You can screenshot it or copy the text from it here if you like. This becomes a lot easier when you have made 5 posts in discussions and introduction area replies.

 

We will always try to help but if you want to request your account is deleted, you can do it here
