mandy22 Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 how do you all interpret your card a day , i struggle to make the card fit . do you ask a question or just see what comes up .
DanielJUK Posted March 3, 2022 Posted March 3, 2022 I think you have to choose how you make it apply as you do it. Some people take a card at the start of the day and this is "what will happen", some people pick a card at the end of the day which is a review of "what did happen". I started doing a card a day when I was very inexperienced and at the beginning it never seemed to fit. But I got a lot better with it! So keep going with it! It's important to remember that a card for a day is a very small energy. Getting the Tower (negative) or Lovers (positive) is just for 24 hours. So the effect will be small for your day. When I did it, I saw the card as like the theme for the day or the energy for the day overall. However sometimes it was very specific events that happened. I kept open minded it could come up as both and asked the question "what do I need to know about today?". It really taught me that the cards can have many different applications and that also it's not a positive vs negative thing, tarot is very nuanced and the cards can apply in so many different ways. Sometimes the cards come up in a way that you would never expect, it's so interesting 🙂 I am glad you are able to start this thread now @mandy22

For my card a day, I ask the question "what do I need to know today" in the morning soon after I wake up. I took the time to bring each card in the deck I use down to a basic essence - just one or two words and I find that easier to apply to my day. For example, the Four of Swords is boiled down to the essence of 'rest' for me, in the deck I'm using. It may not mean I need to spend the whole day resting, but can indicate that I need to take a break from a project and do something different, take more breaks than usual, take a nap or it can indicate that I will feel physically tired and want to rest (even if I can't!). I found it helpful to allow myself time, only about 5 minutes, at the end of the day to contemplate the card again to see what happened that related to the card I'd pulled.
mandy22 Posted March 4, 2022 Author Posted March 4, 2022 thank you @DanielJUK and @stephanelli for your reply , today i got the devil so i will see how that fits in with today
Thamzon Posted March 6, 2022 Posted March 6, 2022 Hi, be interested to know how the devil fitted in with your day? I'm very new and pick a card every evening and sleep with it under my pillow. Sometimes I ask a question, sometimes I don't. Most of the time it makes sense.
Newpath Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 This thread has actually made me start doing this again. I ask what is coming for the day in question. So today my card was the ace of pentacles. I interpreted this as an idea will arrive with the potential to create financial abundance. What I’ve done is leave the card out all day so I don’t forget what it is. I then came back to it. So today I’ve managed to sort an issue to do with free childcare hours that every working parent with a child of certain age gets in the UK. This will lead to having lower childcare fees and more finances for myself and my child. This is what was predicted in my opinion so my interpretation wasn’t far off. Tomorrow my card is the sun. I am looking forward to what comes as I am predicting that something will bring happiness and joy. One thing to note is that in the past I have had things happen a day or two after that have related to what the card was on about so I believe that the timing can be slightly off.
Delta Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 I just started it this week actually. My card for today was two of swords. I didn't know how to interpret it. My question was what the advice for the day was 🙂 I'm not really sure how to look at it now in retrospect either. I suppose my day was..balanced 🙂 Yesterday I had Seven of Swords and just could not figure it out 😄
RunningWild Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 In My Unsolicited Opinion... I think asking at the end of the day something like: How was my day today? Then drawing a card and looking to see where it best fits. That might be an easier way to do what I sometimes refer to as "personalizing" the cards, which really is just seeing how the meaning of the cards relates to our own life events/daily life. Down the road, with practice, then a person can draw cards at the beginning of the day to learn how do use them in a predictive manner.
Jewel Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 When I do a card of the day I usually do it in the morning and ask one of these questions: - what do I need to be aware of today? - what do I need to know about today? - what energy is influencing today? I then journal about what I see in the card, the numerological and suit implications of the card, and how it makes me feel. I keep the card somewhere visible and look at it throughout the day. Before going to bed I take my card, reflect about my day and journal about how the card came into play that day.
Jupitersong Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Hi there. My daily draws have never really been able to portend the answer to my question, which was usually "What do I most need to know about my day ahead?" but sometimes, "What is one event or circumstance that is going to happen to me, today?" But I honestly think that's because I was too close to my own life to see the card properly reflected in it. I now prefer to use my Lenormand deck for daily draws (done in the morning) and tarot for less frequent questions/concerns.
