Wyrdkiss Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 Time to juxtapose the black and white bordered versions of my Darkness of Light Tarot deck. Then, tomorrow or so I'll post the cards I actually do not like and connect with. I'm hoping some of you will have some insight. They are few and far between. The dark bordered deck is my personal copy; the white I use exclusively with clients, on those rare occasions I sit with them these days. Which ones do you like better? Note the different suites have a slightly different colored background. I LOVE that and the wands are my favorite.
Bodhiseed Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) @Wyrdkiss, my old eyes prefer the lighter version - the better contrast makes it easier to see. Edited March 8, 2022 by Bodhiseed

While the darker original holds a place in my heart, I opted for the lighter for querents. Thanks for reassuring me in this choice. Edited March 8, 2022 by Wyrdkiss
Wyrdkiss Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 @Madame Squee can we see more of that beautiful Universal Fantasy Tarot? Which cards are you faves? Any you do not care for?
sweeneyish Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 @Bodhiseed The Ace of Wands is one of my favourite cards in the Deviant so far - It's truly beautiful. And the peapod baby - well, it was certainly appropriate in the reading! @Wyrdkiss The art is so stunning in this deck. I agree about the Light variant. There is something about the higher contrast that makes it a little easier on the eyes, and I find the actually colour of the border/title background quite attractive.

As I've stated, my go-to RWS variant. There are times, although I am good at assessing now, where I read with the Thoth for someone and quickly know it wasn't the best fit. Too much for them, so to speak. This deck clients always love. Always.
sweeneyish Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 @Wyrdkiss I've added this to my deck wish list, based on your feedback. Looks like it is out of print right now, but I'll keep an eye out for it. My reading from yesterday - always interesting to see the same card come up in the same position two days in a row: Today's reading, which I must admit alluded me a bit in meaning. I took some guesses, and the big Deviant Book ended up helping a lot - my intuition must not be sharp today! And finally, a situational reading I did for someone else yesterday, and as always seems to be the case with this deck, the storybook feeling of the reading is alive and real:
sweeneyish Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 The more time I spend with the inhabitants of the Deviant Moon, the more I am growing to love them. With all their imperfections and strangeness, they’re doing their best to get by, and each of them has a very unique story and personality. And there’s something very human about all of them, as strange as they are. My draw today:

It is helping me understand these strange inhabitants more as well. Thank you.
Wyrdkiss Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 And yes @sweeneyish, the creator of the Darkness to Light does a print run of 500 or so every few years. Try to get on the mailing list -- and pounce immediately if possible when notified. They certainly go fast!
sweeneyish Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 My pleasure @Wyrdkiss - I'm so glad you're getting something out of my ramblings! I'm quite touched by all the Deviant Moon inhabitants. As I get to know the cards more and more, I can see how much thought and imagination Patrick put into their world - And how they really are like living beings muddling through their life journeys. Definitely a lot to learn from them!
Wyrdkiss Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 Here's the only card in the deck I do not care for much. Can anyone provide any insight into how this card may, "click" for you?
sweeneyish Posted March 11, 2022 Posted March 11, 2022 @Wyrdkiss That’s an interesting one. It almost has a free masons vibe - I guess like they are building the organization together. Something very spooky about their faces. One of the scarier 3 of Pentacles I’ve seen.
